Ray Palmer is a musician who was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. He discovered his talent for music at age 9. He plays the drums, piano, guitar, bass, and saxophone and sings lead vocals and harmonies.
Ray has performed with both cover and original bands for over 10 years and has recorded multiple original albums. He is presently the leader of his local original/cover band; The Ray Palmer Band. I composed the musical phrases attempting to highlight and match the rhythms of the spoken lines, the famous poem's free tercet form and the embedded themes of rebirth and transformation. Early on I kept hearing like dorian-flavored phrases (minor - #6) over an irregular, almost free pulse. I performed it on a vintage Fender Rhodes EP. Sylvia Plath wrote this poem on the morning of October 27th...

Borges delves deeper into his hallmark themes of mysticism and infinity as the plot here concerns an infinite book. An impossible book. An object that "affronts and taints reality itself." The book of Sand has no beginning nor end. And possession of the mystic tome appears to be more of a curse than a gift. Borges' prose is strong, as always.
