Been reductions shopping for thirty years. I've frozen meat that said it wasn't suitable for freezing before. Not had any problems so far.
Glad to hear it because they are in the freezer (along with a whole load of other stuff I’m ‘not supposed to freeze’) 🤣 xx
Your cheese comment and after thought reaction!! Brilliant!! Keep up the great work!! Thank you
Thanks Phil! Yes I did consider editing that out… but I forgot 🤣 xx
haha - hilarious that the pies were veggie! Poor Ed!! x
He was not a happy bunny 🤣 xx
Hi Claire great box. I buy chicken like that and freezer it in the original packaging aswell as in premade wraps for packed lunches. The pies are good for many more years believe it or not lol just as long as there are no dents or bulges. Lol 😆 x
That’s good to know 😊 I had in the back of my mind that they were good for a long time. Glad I’m not alone in freezing the meat 🤣 xx
It's what they used to be called potted beef
Agreed on the Frey bentos pies, best before is not a strict date, I’d maybe try and eat them within the month. I also would’ve frozen the chicken slices anyway as well. Live life on the edge and all that.
🤣 life in the edge indeed. Yes I think the language around best before Vs use by etc isn’t the most clear. I always think food can’t read dates. If it looks good and smells good then just exercise common sense xx
Omg😂 Fray Bentos veggie im veggie and I didn't know they existed. Great box when we got a Heron box it was rubbish. Take care lovely 🥰 xxx
Well every day is a school day 🤣 might be handy to have in in case of emergencies! Xx
Herons brilliant x
It was fab! Will have to shop there more often xx
I would freeze the chicken too. Don't see a problem.. I generally always ignore a do no freeze instruction and I'm still alive. Ok I'm 49 and a bit loopy but that has nothing to do with freezing food :0)
Haha! Seems we’re all as bad as each other! Xx
The Fray Bentos pies being vegetable pies was just too funny. 😂 A lot of people in the UK think Used by and best before are the same thing. As long as any tinned food in the can is not rusty, pierced, warped or dented they are absolutely fine to eat I think it's up to a year after the best before date if I remember correctly and some is up to 2 years. That's why preppers use dented cans first so they are used quickly and whatever they have can be used in the future when needed.
Oh that’s good to know! I’m a little obsessed with watching prepper videos on RUclips… they will be absolutely fine for him I’m sure. Waste not want not! Xx
@@mumthings I'll be honest at first I thought prepping was just end of the world stuff but the more I've seen videos on YT I realised it's a really good idea incase it's a tight couple of months for whatever reason or if someone loses their job. I don't have a lot of storage space but I definitely buy extra shelf stable things to have in the house because you never know when you will need it.
Oh %100. We all found out how important it is to have a just in case plan in recent years! Xx
@@mumthings We definitely did. 🙂
much of the ambient food has a best before because the packaging has an expiration time, so if the packaging is sound the food probably is too.
That’s a very good point! Xx
Fantastic box!!! I freeze anything, if it's no good once defrosted,we have animals who appreciate most of our left overs🤷lol
I follow you as I too am celiac, also dairy free. Such is life. 😞😀
Ah it’s tricky isn’t it. I’m ok with dairy as long as I haven’t been glutened recently. Glad I’m not along in my freezer anarchy 🤣 xx
Really wish SA shops would do this
It'll look worse once I've eaten it 😂😂😂 quote of the video. Oh poor Ed 😂 what a great haul. Will the bread take up the room in the freezer you have managed to make 😂
🤣 I really do wonder sometimes about the things that come out of my mouth. Yup it does but I’m nearly at the point where I can decant into the kitchen freezer and a freezer bag with ice packs for a couple of hours to defrost the vault. It’s grim in there! Xx
@@mumthings I'd do it for you today, defrost that freezer. It was 33C, 40C with the humidity added in.
Great Video.
There are cartons of Alpro oat milk that do specially say “gluten-free oat” on them I’m not sure where you can get them from but I know they do exist.
Oh that’s good to know, thank you! Xx
Ahh poor Ed the irony of those Frey Bentos pies being vegetarian, secretly laughing, sorry. Bingham beef spread is more or less potted meat, lovely on bread with a smattering of Henerdons relish. A good box from Heron tfs Jax ❤x
Oh that’s good to know, he will enjoy that! Poor lad. He will enjoy them I’m sure xx
From my knowledge of canned food safety, if it's not dented, damaged or blown it's technically safe to eat indefinatly but I wouldn't guarantee it would taste good 😜
That’s my understanding too. Not sure it would be a premium dining experience but needs must 🤣 xx
Nuclear bunker food 🍱
I’m howling!!!
Never had one, probably never will! But I’m looking forward to hearing the verdict! ❤
🤣 I will have to get him to review one xx
I think given the quality and quantity of the meat in a meaty Frey bentos pie that vegetarian is a safer option - the weird pastry top is the best bit anyway
Puff pastry wot its called and as long tin has no dints in it or tin is open then air can get into pasty make it go off it would last very long time upto 10 years or more
🤣 your comments always crack me up, thank you! Xx
Should I send Ed some southern hot sauce for the veggie pies? My husband swears it makes anything edible, and he had to eat MREs in the military. (Meals, ready to eat---they come in packages that you somehow manipulate to heat up.) You got some goodies there, but I would have to make a bread pudding with that diet bread, and smother it with golden syrup!
That’s not a bad shout, hot sauce makes everything better in my eyes! I agree about the diet bread. What a bizzare concept… diet bread! Get some butter on it 🤣 xx
😂@@mumthings
what do you use to colour your hair loving all the colour changes ps great box
Thanks 😊 I use manic panic normally, think this colour was enchanted forest. I do have very dark roots (with a lot of grey) so I use bleach and 30 volume developer on them xx
Oh my gyatt so cheap
My late relatives never ever brought aisle Butcher, fish, poultry, Deli meat and other perishables from any of the supermarkets even there bakery items are repeatedly frozen defrosted frozen defrosted until they are sold if they couldn't get to local family Butcher, bakers, fishmongers they went to supermarket counters asking loads questions ie if it Fresh if has it been frozen endlessly etc. I have dodgy sensitive stomach so did they wen alive so need to be very careful. In recent years it's changed slightly all supermarkets still do it like for example cocktail sausage the mini pack that comes with sandwich meal deal says can't be frozen yet Family pack can its really all about trial error and experimenting sometimes have sandwiches from meal deal out in freezer some freeze fine some seemed OK but I've ended up with bad tummy. I no for definite certain fruit and vegetables are terrible in freezer so is low fat and diet stuff if full fat yogurts, milk and cheese etc they keep in freezer for up to month sometimes 6 weeks but make note of everything that goes in, the date on it, if you think it looked iffy, if brought or delivered on day of expiry etc etc rotate it wen putting fresh in put those at back labourisly time consuming and annoying I have stuff put in freezer forget about it.
As for oat Alpro website says not Gluten free as can't guarantee it's not been contaminated there almond and Hazelnut fake milk is so nice so is tetra pack size chocolate or strawberry fake milk they also sell custard pots and custard for Children they have alpro junior soya milk because it's got extra added protein I've heard those that work out drink it tesco does dairy free custard and yogurts that are also yummy again just be very wary don't take things at face value I use to really love M M chocolate they disappeared for while I got them last month to find the dye in some of the shells uses crushed cacti beetles I'm not vegan or vegetarian but thought eating insects is very off putting
Oh that’s good to know about the Alpro, thank you! That’s sounds tricky dealing with the sensitive tummies. I agree about being careful with labelling and rotating, it’s so easy to lose track! Xx
Anarchist, or Rebel Freezer Mama?
I think I’ve finally settled on… chaos goblin 🤣 xx
I’ve given up with gluten free bread xxx I hate it
Aw that’s a shame Hayley. I’m sure there will be one out there you like. I admit I don’t really remember what ‘normal’ bread was like as it’s been so long xx
@@mumthings I’ve been gluten free for almost 6 months xx I crave gluten but I can’t have it or I will be I’ll xxx
Didn't no herons did magic bags well done herons no they started raising money for max life think that's name of the charity here in Hull were herons head office is and were herons had its first shop here in 70s its local community thing for children age 10 to 25 can go but up until recently there funding was cut so there asking for food donations for there food bank that they run very happy with all local children near were l actually live to give to people and families how need help with food l no that until two weeks ago they were going local community lunch for anyone to go to for free course meal but because there money has been cut herons have taken them under wing helping them rasing money in every herons store they own and have basket for food donations as well
Oh that’s brilliant! I had no idea they did so much corporate social responsibility work. That’s good to know. They often have bags up here but they sell out literally within minutes xx
