little tip: don’t keep your title in your car! the title proves the cars yours, if someone finds a way to steal your car, and the title is inside, they can easily sell the car for cash!!

I recently bought my first car too!! It really sucked for the first half of my journey since I wanted a 2012 Subaru Outback for the snowy winters here in the northeast and the reliable Subaru ratings. I also wanted the limited model with a backup camera and the big screen, I had a strict budget too of under 14,000 and had to wait SOOO long to find the right one since most were either 100,000 miles plus, or above my budget. I landed on a 2012 silver outback with 85,000 miles, no accidents, backup camera, sunroof, heated seats, leather, and upgraded sound system, and was able to negotiate 600 dollars off the price tag of 12,000, super excited!!

A few tips as an Escape owner: 1. Yes, the moonroof WOULD have leaked. 2. Powerpoint in back is for inflating beach toys or tires. 3. Change your transmission fluid every 30k miles!
The blue that Ford used on the Escapes is such a beautiful shade and close to my favorite shade of blue. My mom and I have the 2017 Ford Escapes, both of ours are the SE models. Hers is blue like your's and has the plain Jane radio unit with Sirius XM, the 2.0L engine with 4 wheel drive, blind spot mirrors and most basic options for the SE model. Mine is in White Gold Metallic (which for some odd reason the Indiana BMV thinks translates to Silver as they've put on the title to mine), has the 1.6L (which both mine and my mom's are both the Ecoboost engines), front wheel drive, the infotainment center with navigation (which I'll explain a little trick I found out with mine here in a bit), the projector headlights with LED DRL, Power Lift Gate (which is a pain cause about 7 out of 10 times when it closes it doesn't auto latch shut unless I jiggle the hatch, guessing bad or dirty sensor), keyless entry with remote start (which is where I'll explain about the infotainment options in a bit), 115v AC power plug (which make handy when I need to fast charge my phone as I keep my rapid wall charger plugged into it and the cord reaches the center console perfectly), back-up assist, BLISS (little lights in the side mirrors that let me know a vehicle is in my blind spots, or when backing out of a parking spot, gives an audible alert to notify me there's incoming cross traffic, which has saved me several times from getting into fender benders at Walmart. Crazy Hoosiers and their Wal-Mart rhetorics!). Mom got her Escape brand new from the dealer with literally 47 miles on it (which is funny cause she made me test drive it for her but still bought it anyway. lol) and I got mine at Carvana in Indianapolis in August of 2019 with just over 20K miles on the odometer.
Now, I'm not sure if you know about this or if Apple has an app for it (which I'm sure they do), but having the Ford Microsoft Sync 3 system (being the navigation infotainment center. AKA big screen), my car was listed on Carvana as having remote start even though my keys didn't come with the remote starters. Did a little research and found out that on my android phone, I was able to download an app called Ford Pass, which allows me to lock, unlock my doors, remote start my car, get statuses on my fuel, mileage, distance to empty, estimated oil life remaining, GPS location and option to program remote start times (either single time or repeating times) all from my phone as long as I have internet access. When it comes to the remote start, its similar to any remote start system, however from the in-dash settings, you can go thru and see if your car gives an option for remote start, if so, it also allows you to chose time intervals which will automatically stop the engine if the key isn't inserted into the ignition within that set time.
Sorry to have typed so much here in the comments, but figured if you weren't aware of this feature or if anyone else in the comments was curious about it, then the information is here.
Anyway, congrats on the Ford Escape and hope that you'll get it's full life-span of enjoyment and lifelong memories from it. And BTW, not sure how familiar you are with Indiana, but the interior door panels as well as the center consoles are made at a place called International Automotive Components INC, located in Greencastle Indiana. My wife and I used to work there and in 2012 when Ford launced the C530 platform (2013-2019 Ford Escapes/Kugas) we made many of the parts for those panels and consoles.

Aww don't be scared, trust me the process can seem overwhelming but here's a few tips: 1. if you have a budget to stick with make sure to factor in the taxes, title fees, etc when looking at sticker prices 2. ALWAYS test drive before committing to a car for feeling out the car and seeing if you feel comfortable driving it as well as feeling for any potential upcoming issues (the latter more so if you're if planning to buy a used vehicle) 3. At the end of the day you just need it to be safe, reliable, and do what it's purpose is and that's to get you and passengers safely from point a to point b and back. No mention of checking the CarFax. Always check CarFax when you buy a used vehicle, as it will show if the car was maintained well or not. For a pretty newish car, oil changes are about all that's needed in their first 50,000 or so miles. Make sure it has had oil changes at least every 5,000 miles. All dealerships and most independent oil change places will report this info. to CarFax. If the car has gone too long between oil changes, pass on it. Oil protects the engine and regular oil changes will ensure the engine lasts a long time. The selection of cars is so immense, so no sense in settling for one that was not maintained well.

I know this was from three years ago. But, my mom/dad bought me a car, a 2016 Chevrolet equinox with a sunroof and many nice features. I had that car for a little over a year and I loved it. Fast forward, the sunroof tubing was manufactured wrong and it randomly flooded my car. It caused mold inside the car. A professional car mold remover told me he would get a new car if he was me. He said sunroofs always fail and they’re a mechanical nightmare.
I got myself a blue 2019 Mazda CX5. I purposefully chose a lower trim to avoid the sunroof. I refuse to own a car with a sunroof ever again.
All this to say, not having a sunroof might be a bummer. But, you never have to worry about flooding and mold due to the drainage tubes in your car. 💚

lmao I can so relate to the ford family thing, my mother has the explore st my dad the f-150 and my sister also has the escape. but for some reason even tho I love my fords I went with a Chevrolet Impala and my family despises me for that decision.

I have a 2013 Escape SEL. I love the thing and will eventually do what you do most likely. My only complaint is that other than cup holders there’s literally no more storage where the gear selector is. Other than that I really love the vehicle

I have the same car but it’s the black out Appearance one with the black wheels. Did u know that ur car has auto start stop? So when ur at a traffic light the engine will shut off while ur on the brake and when u let off it starts back up

Last year in mid March 2022. I had a 2015 Ford Escape SE in silver grey. I had that vehicle for almost 5 years. It died on me with an oil leak. I gotten a 2020 Ford Escape SE in black. I’m different on the seats that I liked cloth seats.

I had a 2013 Ford Escape SEL. I hated it. But not because of the few problems it had. It was because the dealership were jerks. So I refused to buy another car from them. I just bought a 2019 Toyota RAV4 Limited AWD and i’m so happy with it. And the dealership.

The Ford escape is a good start if your into suv.
I really don't recommend getting something huge to start, especially if you live in a city.

A little bit over 5 weeks ago that I got a 2020 Ford Escape SE in black. My last one was a 2015 Ford Escape SE in silver grey. That one broke down on me while I was driving it. It died shortly after getting up a hill. Luckily that I pulled over the shoulder to be out of the way. I called the dealership and told them the car died on me and even asked for a tow. They don’t have a tow truck. I got a phone number to this tow truck company. I waited for a hour for it. I was getting cold in waiting for the tow truck. It was snowing heavy on that day. I had a hard time to climbed in the tow truck to get warmed. He was friendly to me.
