    Best explained.But the atomic mass of C-12 is 19.92×10-24 g, determined by a specific weighing instrument. The question is that the atomic masses of other elements can also be determined by using this instrument.Why do we need the method of relative atomic mass if the atomic mass can be determined by such weighing instruments? Pls reply.

      another question is, to find out R.A.M we need the mass of given element. If i can measure the mass of total element, what's the need of relative atomic mass?

    Sir i have question... sir Cl-35 mass is written as 34.9 in periodic table... so why the mass of this nuclide is in fraction? Its not average...

    Sir while calculating the relative atomic mass of a hydrogen atom are we neglecting the mass of electron since the atom is composed of a single electron and a single proton???

  • @ritwiksaha2325
    @ritwiksaha2325 3 года назад +9

    The relative atomic masses of some elements are found to be fractional because they consist of a mixture of isotopes of that particular element and the resultant is the average of their relative atomic masses.For example the relative atomic mass of chlorine is 35.5 amu because it is the average of the relative atomic mass of Cl-35 and Cl-37 present in the ratio of 3:1 so that the relative atomic mass of Cl comes out to be (35×3+37×1)/4=35.5 amu

    The extra fraction in the relative atomic mass of an element, such as chlorine having a relative atomic mass of approximately 35.5 amu, is not due to electrons. The relative atomic mass primarily considers the mass of the protons and neutrons in the nucleus of the atom.
    The reason for the fraction comes from the presence of isotopes of the element. Isotopes are atoms of the same element that have different numbers of neutrons in their nuclei. Since isotopes of an element have different masses, their presence in nature affects the overall average atomic mass of the element.

      One proton or neutron k value ko 12 se multiply kiya hain... kyun ki C12 mein 6 proton + 6 neutron presnt hota hain =12 particles present in the C12 nuclus... So, mass of 1protonor or neutron = 1.66×10^-24 g × 12 the total number of particles(6 proton and 6 neutron) present in the C12 nucleus is equal to to the total mass of C12 atom.
