John and I totally understand the idea of skipping the opportunity to see something rushed when you know you're coming back for a better look later. That's why we're not going to attempt Rome on our cruise this May. It'll be a marvelous day to enjoy the Ascent while everyone else is off the ship.

Thank you for letting us join you in Athens . Just doing some research myself as I'll be travelling solo too in the near future and wanted to visit the Acropolis first thing. You mentioned quite aggressive homeless around Athens. - As a solo female, I'm debating whether to walk to the Acropolis or get a Taxi. What are your thoughts? did it feel like a safe place to walk around int the day?
Hey! Athens is great! We are going back next year and I'm really excited to spend more time there. With regards to safety, I honestly believe you'll be fine, the walk is quite hilly, but there are a lot of tourists taking the same mini-hike so you'll be around many others. I found that the homeless were particularly persistent around open air cafes. In the part of the video where I was enjoying a bottle of wine and complaining about my microphone, I had many come up to me, begging - I think the persistence was because I was sat there, drinking and not really in a position to get up and leave - a lot of this was on camera as I was vlogging at the time, but I cut it out (for obvious reasons). Honestly, you've not no concerns about safety in my opinion.
