- One Year Later, this is the follow up to the Steam Deck video! The Steam Deck is an amazing device and I hope to see more success with the device! NOTE: Final Fantasy X Protondb rating was supposed to be Silver not Gold. Also, I'm just now seeing that FFXIII does do more than 30 FPS...oops!

It’s been kind of a bit since my last video…some personal things have happened in my life but I am now currently working on the Side Final Fantasy References and several video ideas and I want to thank everyone who is still here and watching, I absolutely appreciate it!
Man, you just pulled off the best video of the internet!
I was hesitating to buy this conse since i was not sure that i'll be able to play ff14 on it, but if i correctly understood it will be no problem for that! And i think i heard that it will be for the best in the future and that the fews games that are no playable will be one day. So thanks to you, i was afraid i'll have to install a bunch of stuff to play ff14 but seeing rhat the steam version works perfectly fine is dope!
kind of incredible, I JUST went looking for your old video and see a brand new one, your timing is perfection.
I recommend playing the PS2 version of X-2 on the Steam Deck, works great and I think you can upscale it to 720p, so nothing bad.
Shame about 13-2. It’s such a massive improvement over 13. Glad that LR works though. That one’s my guilty pleasure
I just played 13-2 without mods at 30fps to completion with no issues and it ran way better than 13!
Final fantasy X-2 works really well for me locally on steam deck, maybe it is an update, but now it's possible
I played Final Fantasy 14 on the Steam Deck. So much fun. Though I had to learn how to play on controls XD
Its crazy that X-2 still doesnt work and theres no fix, its the only one in the series with this issue. A shame.
What's even weirder is that it runs perfectly fine on the Switch. How can the Switch run it fine but the Steam Deck can't!?
@@RandomShinigami7it’s cuz there’s a difference of making a effort to port the games compared to releasing a device that looks like backwards compatibility which not all games will work
Good video, thx
There is another problem you forgot to mention with Final Fantasy X Lulu's Overdrive doesnt work the bar never goes up when your rotating the right stick
the pre rendered cutscenes in ff4 3d remake are really choppy on my steam deck regardless of the proton version i use.
I recomended expanded Cross Hot bar on FFXIV where u can double tap triggers for second hot bar. Reduces reaction time
I have installed FF14 but not gotten too stuck in yet. I need to take a day one time to just figure out how to map thw controls. Haven't had the spoons so been playing Monster Hunter World lol
Wait, you can use the Square Enix FF14 launcher on the Steam Deck!?
I’m new to the game and PC gaming, but because I’m using the SE launched I just assumed I wouldn’t be playing FF14 on the Deck. I still won’t be doing MSQ’s on it, but for a quick run of small side quests then sure, let’s go.
Yeah I got XIV Launcher from the built in linux app store. I have it set up with all my mods and reshader too lol
Dows Final Fantasy Tactics Advance run on the steam deck?
Stranger of Paradise listed as unsupported :( Can I get a Chaos Check-In from all my fellow Jacks? 👊
It looks like the Pixel Remasters were updated today.
04:17 you can also hold down steam button and use the right trackpad as a mouse
Could we get an update to this?
Heyo, steam deck owner since it's launch and Linux enthusiast here. It's about the same. FFXI doesn't *need* windower. And FFV and FFIX is officially rated as playable I've been able to play FFXI with 4.11-13. I've also been able to play X-2.
For FFXIII and XIII-2 I still recommend downloading and applying ffxiii fix
Stranger of Paradise doesn't need the launch option anymore
Proton GE is your best friend
The only FF games you can't play natively(as of writing) are ff16 and ff7 Rebirth just because they arent on steam yet.
All you need is chiaki4deck and you're good to go. 1.7.0 just dropped today and you can hole punch without needing to port forward for your PS5. Sadly doesn't work for me, but I have a vpn(tailscale) and I can port forward. So not the end of the world.
The only game that I can't play by square without neutering it is Legend of Mana. My workaround is PS5 or install on my home computer and use steam remote play with Wake-On Lan set up either through Sunshine/Moonlight or another always on server like a raspberry pi. The raspberry pi zero 2 W is a great choice for a small footprint server for running a couple of services off of. Enable ssh, plug it in with only micro USB supplying power, and it's good to go.
Is there a way to make the titles stuck at 15 fps at least run at 30 during battles? Via INI tweaks or mods? 15 fps is just horrible.
There are mods that adjust the frame rate but I personally only tried them on FF4 3D, it's not the best experience because it speeds up the animations, a lot of the game's logic seems tied to the frame rate which is probably why it's limited in the first place.
Great video, exactly what I was looking for man, thank you so much for providing the world with such a wonderful synopsis.
It's pretty outdated though. The XIII trilogy for example runs smoothly now.
Can’t even load ffxiv or install it without not Being able to find the dang folder.
I am able to play FFX2 on my Linux machine (not SteamDeck) I wonder if there is something on the deck in particular that make it impossible to run. I am using Proton GE 7.1, I don't remember why I set it up but maybe that is why I am able to run.
I read you have to use Proton Experimental then set the resolution to 1280x800 in launcher settings to fix the game from crashing at launch
SE games in general just suck a lot on PC. I've never played any of their games without performance issues other than FF14. I've read so many FF reviews and all you see is performance issues, even in FF15
What res are you running strangers of paradise?
How to play X-2
Dude what is the remix right at the start of the video? Please
It’s the Pixel Remaster version of Eternal Wind
is it possible to disable the performance screen ? it take a huge part of the steam deck screen
yeah
press the triple dot button (...)
go to the battery icon and performance overlay options will be there
Too bad 13-2 is unplayable on deck with steamos and windows even with the 13fix mod
the fact that ffx-2 and ffxiii-2 are unplayable for me it's a big plus
(listens carefully at beginning) Oh, Raha's theme! (yeah yeah I know it's originally from FFIII)
Im getting one mainly to play retro stuff and I really want to play v on it, first thing Im gonna do lol
FF5 is great, I recommend either the SNES version with some quality of life patches, or the pixel remaster version.
Some of the quality of life includes having the run ability and blue magic learning ability passively equipped without equipping them.
