The movie “Dead Man” was filmed in my town, Grants Pass, Oregon. They built an Indian village on the banks of our favorite swimming hole, during the summer. My Mother cleaned his room at the local nice hotel and also got the script that he left when it was over.
I had a job where I hated the work and the money was obnoxiously huge. I spent tons to make myself rationalize why I loved the job… it failed and I finally quit the work. It was liberating. I remember watching this interview when it first came out expecting some weirdo that Hollywood/Media portrayed him to be and remember being shocked just how normal and pleasant he really was. Macaulay never wanted to be the MEGA Star and they spited him for it. They had to come up with a narrative for him to continue making them money. Evil really.
