    Beginner Class
    Welcome to Class number 4!
In this class, we are going to go over a few different ways to digitize an embossed design for towels. I explain how the effect is created, and how embossing works. We start off with a simple square design - it may be simple, but it looks impressive! We move on to creating our own fancy shape for the next embossing design, using only our grid for reference - yes, I make a few mistakes, and I show you how to correct them so your design is perfect! We change the type of fill, play around with motif stitches and create the second design. For the third design, we use a circle shape and I show you a few ways to make the design even better!
Learn the basics of embossed embroidery and take those skills to your computer and come up with new and exciting ways to do embossed designs. There are many many opportunities for creativity in this class.
    Skills :
creating your own shapes using only the grid
    cloning shapes
quickly getting shapes to the right size
    duplicating shapes
    motif stitches
    remove overlaps
picking the right font for embossing
This is a great beginner video to learn the style of embossing - once you get the basics down, you can create more complicated designs by adding different levels of details.

Being a roadway designer who uses CAD products like Microstation and OpenRoads Designer it's a painful process to find the tools in craft software. I'm glad for videos like this because I don't understand them.

Sooo, first of all thank you all for the kind words regarding my post and the passing of my mother. She truly did love her quilt in the short time she had it. My question is I have PEP and Hatch 3. Is there any benefit to getting Embrilliance? If I use the font editor for BX fonts can’t I then resize them how I want? I am a software junky, but can’t see where Embrilliance does anything different than Hatch and PEP. I actually ended up getting PEP after watching Sue’s video a couple of years ago. Thanks in advance!

I’ll have to try this 😊 I love the way you show us how you play around and not getting it right all the time because the fonts are not perfect in that size or the outline are a bit of. Just makes it easier for us to try as swell

thank you - I don't always get it right! Most people would edit all that out, but I leave it all in.

my color chart is missing how do I bring it back? The one at the bottom. Are there hot keys for that. I did enjoy your class and thanks for making the movement easy to follow. I run two computer or one and my tv to follow as I do your example. Using my pen i lost my color chart. Please instruct me on how to return my color chart.

Trying to recreate this lesson in PE Design 10 & can't get the modify overlap (cut hole) to work. Grrrrrrr! following your instructions from a previous lesson on Modify overlap but no luck, No wonder I keep switching back to Embird. Is there any chance you can do an embossing lesson in PE Design 10, I don't have Hatch but was following along until I hit the brick wall. ;-(

Hi Sue, Please disregard as I stumbled across some info that helped me work out what I was doing wrong so tomorrow I will continue following your lesson & working on it with PE10. Thank you for your understanding. I love your lessons but still trying to love PE10. :-)
