When I was using a friend’s Axe Fx II for a while, I just used the master fuzz in the drive block in front of whatever high gain amp block and didn’t need all of the extra blocks and it was pretty spot on
ah nice, yeah the fuzz has some of that character to it, I'm not sure if there's some similarity with the swollen pickle fuzz that kinda does that HM2 thing, i tried some others but that fuzz worked the best the EQ here pushes/shapes things even more, i think, in Dome's video he uses some other drive/distortion with two EQs i think, the fun thing here is in parallel you can mix that sort of vibe in and there's more gain i think with the extra parallel signal lots to experiment with in any case
@@dmitriopekine5402 ah thanks, unfortunately i don't own a hx stomp / helix, i wanted to try it out at some point but ended up just going for fractal, heard good tones from them though, i think custom IRs will make a lot of difference on the hx stomp/helix, I'd recommend trying out OTTO audio cabs for those really heavy tones, that's what i use on my custom/band tones (the Black pack is a great collection and taster for their other stuff) for these presets i always use factory cabs so everyone can use the same tones
@@dmitriopekine5402 in my main preset , i'm using a blend of Dontsell 4x12 cab Kurt Hammer 4x12 cab more specifically a blend of Dontsell 57 mic and Kurt Hammer AKG C12, however, i only thought of using that combo after trying out the Black Pack first (which has some great cabs from each of their packs) the Kurt Hammer has some real grind to the sound, which is really cool when mixing, i did an overview of the black pack here ruclips.net/video/XcjBE-EN1ig/видео.html my recommendation would be to try out the black pack and experiment from there

I tried using the classic expander but it does this weird thing where the sound slowly fades in right as it opens. Do you know what's up with that? When I adjust where it doesn't do that the gate doesn't seem to work as abrupt. Do you have a video where you setup the modern gate. Thanks for your videos.
@@SavedbyGraceAlone84 thanks🙏 it's the type of gate , you can also use gates as like 'auto swell' devices too, the expander will do the opposite to a gate (it will open instead of close, at least that's my understanding) i did a tutorial within this video otherwise, i think I'll break it out in a separate video to make it easier to find: ruclips.net/video/LTmedmEX1oM/видео.html
Interesting video, thanks for your efforts! I just wonder why you didn't choose the Recto straight Dyna cab? 🤔I think it sounds much more lively and of course it's easier/more flexible to dial in...
Hi Matthias, thanks for the comment probably because it's quicker/easier to pick a specific cab from the 'legacy' block, there's definitely a lot more options with the dyna cabs, i'll have to explore that a bit more, i'll try that in some future videos i still usually use IRs for heavy stuff (OTTO cabs are really good) they get me the results I'm after without too much hassle , other than trying out 120958190285 IRs 😄 to see which one I like more i try and use the stock/factory cabs to make it easier for more people to try the tone out, instead of having to get a custom IR from somewhere
Hello, the EQ isn't dynamic, so it's like a static filter on the sound to shape it, the M-comp is compressing the frequency range when they get too high and reacting to the sound for example if you set the EQ to reduce lower mids by -5db it'll always pull out 5db of that frequency range the M comp on the other hand you can set to say reduce between say 1-5db depending on how the signal /tone is the m-comp is to control the build up of lower mids i did a video on TDR NOVA eq where you can visualise the effect hopefully better
around 6 minutes on this video, you can see on the spectrum analyser how the low mids build up during chugs if you say take off - 5db via EQ it's always taking off those frequencies regardless if you're chugging or not the m-comp will only take off those frequencies when you're chugging hope that makes more sense ruclips.net/video/q6X8DcpSkyA/видео.htmlsi=UByipC1m8QaRL670
it'd be Fractal for me (FM3 / FM9 / AXE FX 3) I'm really familiar with the layout/interface control and options, the amount of amps available (being a huge fan of VHT/Fryette the d60 is already a big plus) and the amount of control/parameters i have over everything clinches it for me, it's hard when you're used to having all that on option not to mention tones/feel i have a QC on loan at the moment actually, I'll probably do a video on that at some point i think it comes down to user preference , you can get incredible tones out of a lot of units out there and the limitations depend on each device and what you want to do with it, the FM3 has been an absolute workhorse for me since i got it, and while there are CPU limitations (no dual amps for example) i get everything out of it that i need // tldr 😄 Fractal for me

Hi, where exactly is the difference between using an EQ or the M-Comp after the amp to tighten it?
Hello, the EQ isn't dynamic, so it's like a static filter on the sound to shape it,
the M-comp is compressing the frequency range when they get too high and reacting to the sound
for example if you set the EQ to reduce lower mids by -5db it'll always pull out 5db of that frequency range
