If you know you have Coyotes, why would you let your dog out first? Coyotes travel in packs, so how could one dog fight off 3, 4, or 5 Coyotes at once? Had that been me I would have gone out with my dog and a gun. People crack me up when they let the dog out first. Same with cops, they let the dog go into the building first. The cops are the ones with guns, not the dog.

Jerry B, Thanks, I viewed The Fit Farmer today. It's interesting to check how various homesteads compare. Going on garden and farm tours events around Missouri and Kansas is my idea of having some fun while learning. Long ago, I toured a Basehor, KS pork producer's farm, who had a loyal customer base of mostly Slavics and blacks. The owners, an elder black couple, were known for high quality hogs and their generous ways. Frequent buyers of their pork and vegetables got a little extra at no charge. Their tidy pebble and dash cottage looked like the homes of some of my relatives in rural Ireland. That first farm tour at 19 years old, sparked my passion for gardening.
I’ve had German shepherds since birth on our farm. Protective collars are nice for larger predators, but you don’t want your dog to get hung up on fencing with them. I don’t recommend getting one, I’ve never heard of coyotes taking large farm dogs of any kind from my area. Obviously that is a small sample size, but I recommend getting protection for small terrier breeds because they are often taken. The coyote would never risk their life to scrap with a large predator, even one bite could get infected. The fact that coyotes are pushing onto his farm are possible signs of over population.

U won't be disappointed. Just be sure to train it well, or get a professional trainer. They are highly intelligent so training it yourself isn't that big an issue. Just be assertive, and consistent

Coyotes generally attack from the rear ends of its victims. They eat their prey alive. I am praying Gabby will be forever protected to guard the homestead!
Yep! They'll rip at the leg tendons of animals to cripple them. They yip constantly when they're on a hunt too. You can hear them coming for miles. They dont stalk their prey, they run it down.. If they get after your dogs, more than likely you'll be the dogs guardian savior.

Gabby and Lady are those kind of dogs that don't come around every day . Love them while you got them .

We had German shepherds when we were kids growing up. They are Super protective and very good guard dogs. Our male German shepherd Biff would not let anyone in our yard he didn't know!
I don't mind that we have no footage, it would have been awesome eh? However, I think on the fact that she did her job, her puppies are okay, the goats are okay, and those coyotes learned a lesson that night. Bright blessings to you and yours kind sir.

Rotties or marema sheep dogs are the best I have them both
Reagan Mcurray I have a Yorkie but Rottweiler,I cant compare....
Yikes
Gabby is beautiful. I love German Shepherds. I had one and raised her. They are so loyal. I say all of the time that a gun can't bark waking you from your sleep.

Maybe a shelf on the chicken tractor to get them off the water
@@dejaboyd7021 idk which is worse! The chickens in that condition or the puppies on the garage floor where the water is pouring in.
It's like a chicken and puppy mill all-in-one. 🤔
@@dejaboyd7021 and proper shelters for pigs and goats....
@@anton48103 it's horrible! All animals should have proper nightime shelter, the animals look miserable☹️ I won't be subscribing ☹️
Dutch, you have a great girl there. When I was young we had a German Shepard on our family farm. Smart and beautiful dogs. Send some of that rain to us in California.
😊😊 YOU CAN HAVE SOME OFF THIS RAIN FROM THE U.K. AS WELL. 😊😊👍👍💖 GO GABBY.😀😀💖
I'll take it -thanks😊
Your puppies are so cute I love German Shepard’s
Gabby is the One ! I love GERMAN SHEPARDS. SO SMART AND INTELLIGENT ! MY FAVORITES.
I have 50 acres & a pack of coyotes in the area. I keep 2 dogs. Coyotes will mess with one dog, but not with 2.
I have a alaskan shepard, 5 years old now. Great at protecting from wildlife. Alligators, bears, snakes, coyote, wolves. Great warning system and no fear if she has to attack. We traveled the country as long haul trucker, i wouldn't sell her at all
As much as I HATE seeing Animals caged up, I see your pets well looked after and loved, I know you let them out time e to time :)
I know they are meat birds but i too was thinking the same thing.... Thats just me i mean you are already killing them for food so dont be mc donalds and over crowd
German Shepard’s are so precious especially when they flatten there ears so adorable 🥺😊
An amazing family member and protector. What a beautiful dog xx
I love German shepherds they are great protectors!! I’ve never have felt safer than I did when I use to babysit my Remi. He’s a military dog and I love him to death ❤️
Good luck with the coyotes, they can do a lot of damage to livestock. Adding a security Cam with night vision would be a good investment. You could edit in the footage from that when you have intruders or trespassers.
A proper closed night shelter for the animals would be better!
I just love how supportive & helpful all your subscribers are. I'm a subscriber too but I never have advice
of my own to offer like others do, I just enjoy watching your videos. I just wanted to give a shout-out to
those who pass along pointers and/or advice. Glad Gabby was able to protect the goats. -Hugs
The best dog I ever had was a red heeler and we lost her, her mom and my sisters blue heeler when they protected our horses from coyotes. I miss her a lot.
She died?
@@justinmaddox1068 we honestly don't know. We did find a trail where they'd gone, but we never saw them again.
...... probably lured away then ambushed by other yotee's.
Wild coyote's,... even though not big,... they're smart, and more than capable of snatching away other peoples guard dogs.
Terminate them if they start hanging around your home and family.
😀😀😇😈😈😇😁😁
Tutu Mama my guardian dog prob won’t get lured. 3 yo great peryneese. His name is fluff. We live right next to the road so everything is brick walled off. But he barks all night but there’s nothing. You never know though. Those coyotes are fucking smart like you said.
Beautiful dog and sweet cute puppies
She is awesome❤️👍🏼 we love our beautiful German Shepherd too, they are wonderful guardians, and loyal friends, the best🥰🐕
I love the way you take care of your pets that proves that there are positive people in this world
Take care don't mean positive.
The puppies have gotten SO BIG.
The” alarm system” has been activated !!!! 🐺 Good girl Gabby !
I just had to put ours to sleep. She was my departments K9 and I was her handler and since she retired due to hip problems I was a le to keep she. Her name was Lola and they are the best dogs and the most funniest dog I've had the pleasure to work. I have a Belgium Malinois now and he's only a 1 1/2 and funny of energy but is also a good dog to have around the family
Yes you really need to get a spiked collar to protect her cuz she is such a good 🐕
@@meaganukraus1573 SPIKED COLLAR....REALLY!!! That's so cruel, of the 3 k9's I handled in the Army and with the Sheriff's department I've never had to have those collars, even with my 2 Belgian malinois that I have now. Those need to be outlawed. If someone has to have a spiked collar then they do not need to have a dog because that means one cannot handle their dog.
@@av8tore71 I don’t think you understand what a spiked collar is. The spikes point away from the dog and thus do not hurt them in any way. The purpose is to protect the dog from other predators, be it coyotes, bears, other dogs or even humans I suppose.
You’re thinking of a choke collar.
You are doing a fantastic job. It takes a lot of love and care to look after these animals. Wow! You are a star!
This is the kind of dog my granddaughter wants. Right now we rent and can't have any pets. But as soon as we can get one we will.
YOUR DAUGHTER WOULD BE PROTECTED. THEY WOULD GIVE THERE LIFE'S TO MAKE SURE THERE OWNER ARE SAFE. SO WHEN YOUR SETTELD GET ONE.😊😊👍👍💖💖A.S.A.P. 👍👍💖
U won't be disappointed. Just be sure to train it well, or get a professional trainer. They are highly intelligent so training it yourself isn't that big an issue. Just be assertive, and consistent
You’re gonna make me cry talking about your doggie like that
Time to cook a steak for that wonderful pup..she deserves it ...again...Good Job Gabby!
I could watch you care for your animals all day. So satisfying!
Shepherds are the best! She's doing a great job. And they love to have a job and a purpose.
Dutch I didn't see any perches in your chicken coop. That will keep them dry too. Congratulations to Gabby. God bless her
Yeah, you need a couple of 2x4's so the chickens can get off the weg ground.
@kbamm69 you would think so but meat birds will hop off a roost and break a leg because they are to heavy. Its the way they grow.
I heard German shepherds were very protective over family but I guess that's really true now lol
Revoke Ros They are very protective of their families.
@nevy channel I never said it was new🙄 but this video is proof that they are very loyal, every body has different things that they believe and don't believe. This video just made me believe that they are protective.
YOU BET THEY ARE.😊😊💖
@@n1ghtmareros600 Yes German Shepherds are very protective and loyal, but the problem is coyotes travel in packs. How can one German Shepherd fight off 3,4 or 5 coyotes all at once. The coyotes would have all ganged up on the dog. That dog owner should have never let the dog out first and alone. He should have went out with the dog if he had a gun. If I had coyotes in my area, I would never let my German Shepherd out first and alone to fight off several coyotes at once. It is not a fair fight by any means. Shame on that dog owner.
@@roberta.lofgrenjr.9182 He said that he thought that there was an intruder in his home, and he did have his gun. He said that the dog just dashed out and ran after the coyotes. He didn't want to shoot the dog trying to hit a coyote.
If they get after your dogs, more than likely you'll be the dogs guardian savior.
.
Good girl Gabby! I had a dog that hated coyotes, and wasn't afraid to show it. I'll never forget that dog.

Dutch May be you could use some trail camera s and Motion detectors around the homestead !
Those gsd puppies are so beautiful and cute .❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
German Shepherds are the best. We have three right now. They are the best dogs in the world!
Gabby makes me think of my German Shepherd buddy, Zoe! She had a litter of 11 puppies though so Gabby has some leniency there. I also have a German Shepherd mixed with Blue Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog). Her name is Aphrodite.
I met a guy in Canada once with a wolf or wolf dog that said his dog would hunt coyotes on its own. Thing mustve been over 100 pounds and was in shape too.
I have 2 high content wolf dogs that protect our house at all costs. The community as well 100% the only dog I will ever get loki has killed 4 coyotes and has chased off one mountain lion.
Aww how cute her playing with them.
Gosh those puppy's are so damm cute....reminds me of my shepherd puppy when i was a boy...💗💖 he was the most loyal dog ever !! Had him for 15 years and we grew up together....
Great video. I love shepherds. I have a Chezch working line Shepherd Because he’s with me on my land. It’s great to have a protector and a companion. I’m also a retired vet so we turn to keep them around for different reasons.
She sure is a great mother an guard I enjoy watching the puppies grow and Gabby in action❤️ Best Wishes to Gabby and you guys❤️ Happy Halloween (Well Almost)
Get another mature Shepperd to "share the work"....no ONE dog can do it alone...no matter how tough.

Awesome job Gabby. A Marine lives here and and a Marines dog guards here. GET SOME!
Already have a Shepard, and ur right she is a love
my boy was tearing up while telling us how good of a dog she is , rip to my yellow lab Dino ;(
much love from illinois man take care!
My family when I was growing up had 2 GS and a GS mix. They were all great dogs.
One of the best puppy advertisements I’ve ever seen
I had a Shepard Collie mix named Lady . She knew our property line with no fence . Nothing or nobody could get in our yard unless we were talking to a neighbor . She would sit by our side the whole time . We also had a black male cat named midnight which she would clean and groom and let sleep on top of her . Gabby and Lady are those kind of dogs that don't come around every day . Love them while you got them .
Lol there was a chicken that just casually walks in 4:59
You are crazy

Get it Morgan and I had 9 pit bulls in the first liter🐶🐶🐶
After a Bee gathers nectar it makes a straight line run back to the hive. The phrase is "made a B line straight to ..." Gaby is a good dog. Always great to brag on your dog. Great dogs make great memories.
she is one heck of a dog, you keeping a pup from her she has some instincts on here
We had German shepherds when we were kids growing up. They are Super protective and very good guard dogs. Our male German shepherd Biff would not let anyone in our yard he didn't know!
You need a Dogo too. Gabby needs back up. She's Beautiful!
In my experience, the "fearless" in German Shepherd, goes without saying.

I don't mind that we have no footage, it would have been awesome eh? However, I think on the fact that she did her job, her puppies are okay, the goats are okay, and those coyotes learned a lesson that night. Bright blessings to you and yours kind sir.
