Both option will not work for me. Word isn't displaying "file" in the top drop down menu option in Word and the recovery button doesn't appear either, what am I to do?
Hi, I am sorry to hear that you could not find the file tab in the ribbon. This sounds like a Microsoft office issue. Hopefully this link can help you: answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/cannot-find-a-file-tab-in-word-or-excel/1f25698a-b3a1-475a-9b19-a1f8ae0b4ab7
Hello, have you tried opening your file explorer and search for the title (name that you used to save the document). You can type the title in the top right search bar that appears when opening file explorer. I hope that helps.
I need help!! Solution 01: Once I click on the “open” button, there is no “recover unsaved documents”; it only has “OneDrive - personal”, “On My Mac” & “Manage Storage Accounts” buttons. Solution 02: I don’t have the “options” button. **I own a MacBook Pro Can you help me?? My work was almost done and is due tomorrow
Unfortunately under my Word -> File -> Options -> Save, nothing was check-boxed other than 'Show additional places for saving, even if sign-in may be required'. All those AutoRecover options? Nothing was checked, I guess I've lost my file for good?
Hi, if you have checked the auto recovery file location and it is empty unfortunately the files did not get saved. For future make sure that the saving options are ticked. If your files are extremely important there are experts that can recover the files for you but this can be quite expensive.
@@teacherstudent7330 Thank you, that was very unfortunate, the file was unrecoverable but I have now checked those AutoRecover options and have tested that I will be able to use your methods for unsaved File Recovery in future.
Hi, that's unfortunately a bit harder to do and only works when you have "track changes" enabled. Then you can go to File > Info > Version History. From there you can see all your previous Word versions.
When you find the word file in the recovery folder and you are not able to open it with Word you could try to open the file with Notepad. When it opens in Notepad you can copy and paste the text from there into a new Word document.
Hello, in this case you can just open your file explorer and search for the title (name that you used to save the document). You can type the title in the top right search bar that appears when opening file explorer. I hope that helps.
@@barbarabockman9059 Sorry to hear that this didn't work. You can perform two other searches in your file explorer: .asd and .wbk This might sound totally stupid but I have seen it before... Have you checked your Recycle Bin already?
Beautifully explained, but sadly after "Open" I don't get "Recover unsaved documents" but only "Manage Storage Accounts." So no help and my frustration continues.
Hi, I might be able to help your special case but I would need some more information. Did you create a word file and your computer crashed or how did you lose the file?
Omg you saved me!!! I was able to recover my presentation notes!! Thank you!!!!!

You are welcome. Great to hear that it worked for you.

Does this work if you accidentally saved other stuff over it? Because it wasn't saved could it still be recovered?

That might work for unsaved documents, but what about documents that are saved and just disappear?
Hello, in this case you can just open your file explorer and search for the title (name that you used to save the document). You can type the title in the top right search bar that appears when opening file explorer. I hope that helps.
