  • A tutorial on how to add a 360-degree lidar to a robot for autonomous navigation. I create and save waypoints that the robot can navigate to. In this video, I use The Better Navigator in Synthiam ARC with a Robotis TurtleBot. See some links below:

Great video, pulls it all together. I had mine very close to that but with this video and a few tweeks will have it up and running. Thanks

That's awesome to hear! I want to make a robot that navigates around my house to bring me stuff - like a butler.

@@DJSures With the technology that you have built almost anything is possible.

Great video! Very well explained and very helpful. I’ve been playing with the idea of creating an outdoor rover, I’m wondering if this implementation would work in an outdoor robot? Would it struggle with accuracy? Any thoughts you could share would be wonderful. Thanks!

So the lidar is a TOF sensor mounted on a slip ring with a motor? Or does it tilt to scan vertically also?

I went looking at prices for these things. They are so fricking cool...but man the are really expensive. To get one as nice as yours would be way out of my budget. Living on Social Secuty sucks. I wish this stuff had been around when I was younger :) I'm stuck with Raspberry Pi and other dev boards to play with :D although I do have some IR sensors for collision but thats it. :)

I'll do another video using the 360-degree lidar on a Roomba. It doesn't matter what you use the lidar on, but the robot I used is far too expensive for most people. I only have it because it's used for development. Any of the supported lidars can be used on anything :)

its great job, how did you made your GUI program?
    Which API did you use?

Can we apply some A* algorithm from the generated map to reach perticular location

I might consider getting something like this - if I didn't think my stupid cat would wreck it, the silly girl.

Can I use this with a drone?

The same approach won't work with a drone, although you could set up something similar using Pixhawk and Ardupilot (Idk what type of LIDAR is used on planes/UAVs but those would be really expensive as they would be long range, so using a LIDAR on a drone wouldn't be practical)
