Same here. Mostly dewalt 20v tools but I just picked up a bunch of m12 tools on sale. I figured 12v is really a separate platform from 20v anyway (other than needing a separate charger). They are the brushed versions and have been excellent so far .
Nice unbiased review, I appreciate your insights on the true purpose of a ratchet👍🏽 I have the Gen 1: 3/8" brushed version it works well for my needs at this point. I try to keep up to date on Milwaukee's latest offerings but did not learn about this new Fuel high speed ratchet until this week.
Thanks for the review. I'd take the higher rpm speed over torque values. Like you said, make use of the ratchet if needed to break loose the fastener, then speed er' out...and vice versa.
I've both M12- 2557-20, 2457-20 - I am extremely well pleased with both, now I am still on the fences with the new M12 high-speed ratchet not sure if will make a purchase. The overall speed increase is huge and head reduction is great. Only time will tell.
Thanks Robert I always love your tool videos you explain in great detail for us tool Junkies, I was just talking to my dad about his old SK tools and how SK got sold to a Chinese company so sad!
My main beef with it isn’t about the torque. I hand torque everything with my original fuel. My main issue is….I never use my original ratchets anymore. The extended reach is the best one. So they took a model that everyone asked for a longer one, then improved the speed on the one everyone wanted them to make longer….why….I’ll tell you why, cause milwaukee knows they have fan boys who’s buy every new tool they release. Now wait for a few mo the when they realize the extended reach high speed and your stuck with this little bubble ratchet that you have to try and fit your hand around that fat 4 times the size of a manual ratchet, into a tight place. That was the issue with the original ratchet and why everyone asked for a longer neck. On top of that. , they made the new direction change and flush mount and that’s my next biggest issue with the ratchets. I’ve had to stick it in some tight places and I’ve back a bold out and then the back of the ratchet gets backed into something, now good luck getting a small tool in there to run it back in to get your ratchet unstuck (hammer time) they should have left the battery level meter where it was and moved the directional change to the handle like the right angle impact. If I need speed, I’ll use my stubby. I do t need gimmicky half ass thought out tools ill wait for the extended high speed. 🤷♂️
I've found the 55 ftlbs fuel model (regular length) lets say doing some brakes, with caliper bolts, i'd rather take some regular ratchet, bust it loose, and then take that thing and it gets rid of working out crusty rusty bolts. Ofc impact is the best but yeah. I have the first brushed one, then the 3/8 fuel, love them both for different reasons, i think the high speed would be the go to though.
Waiting for them to come out the "extended reach" high speed ratchet. You know they will LOL. And yeah, I haven't ever considered the dick measuring torque rating of an electric ratchet as a deal breaker. Now the speed on the other hand......
Looking at a third gen 2009 base outback 2.5 tonight. 43 year Subaru mechanic maintained. Seeps oil but oil level doesn’t go down. Is this guy predicting the gasket blow soon and shoving it down the road or is there truth they can last for years with an oil seep? Thanks man!
Interesting to see how it compares to Snappy’s newish CTR861 or if they will announce a 450Rpm ratchet at SFC. I really wish Snappy would put the toggle trigger (like the CT761 has) on a ratchet and do away with the need to use a a turn switch on the head.
How much manual loosing force can you put on the new Milwaukee 3/8? The original fuel 3/8 can stand a lot of abuse. My problem with original fuel is that it is slow, heavy, and head is big.
I went with speed. I use a ratchet to remove and install bolts. I have an air ratchet and it's only 160rpms, but any of these ratchets are faster than my hands.
The only thing the torque might be good for is running dirty rusty bolts in and out. The ones that wanna be tight the whole way through. But at that point you might as well just use a regular ratchet or if it really bothers you but the 1/2 inch gen 1 for that extra 25 ft lbs. I’m so so happy I held off and didn’t buy the gen 1 because I’m definitely gonna be buying the gen 2
14:22 through to 14:41 - what the hell is that insect doing the rounds of your shelving at moderate speeds??? :-D giant ant? small cockroach? something else? Good vid on the ratchets, will probably upgrade my fastish non-fuel to the fast fuel - the 3/8 fuel was never an option for me, just too big and bulky - new one ticks all the boxes. 1/4 and 3/8 in the mail soon :-)
Any particular reason? Seems like in the newer high speed line the heads are about same size. Feel like just more options with 3/8? But not sure as I’m looking to purchase myself.
Would you be willing to send me that 3/8 gear kit you took out of the hi speed ratchet? I would like to see if I can fit it too the m12 fuel 1/4 ratchet.
Do you know if the guts in the head interchangeable on the high speed ratchet? Like could I buy a 1/4 inch tall shift knob assembly and install it on a 3/8 ratchet?
If you could only buy one of the Milwaukee M12 ratchets for use on cars would you get the 1/4 or 3/8 version? I don't mind having to use a adaptor if I needed to but I cant afford to buy both versions
So stupid how they made these so the socket comes off so easy. Would it have killed them to put a little ball in the anvil so the socket wouldn't keep coming off? What a scam
I just bought into the M18 line the other day and my charger charges m12 too I was a DeWalt fanboy but I'm very impressed by Milwaukee

I like a button over the paddle as well and have also though a snap on button would be a good idea.

Great review. Thank you. I just bought mine and I love it. It works great
I just sent your video to Milwaukee tool company on Facebook, we’ll see if they get back to you!
Just got the M12 high speed (kit) for almost 1/2 off at HD today 😁
Great review, I have both and always reaching for the high speed 🤘
The second they release a 1/4" extended high speed I will but it instantly
Buy it instantly*
Lol

The new CTR861, did a video on it a month ago on here. Has 275rpm and 60ft.lbs.of torque.

I'm not sure if an actual number rating is listed. I know Snap-on says about 120Ft. Lbs. manual force on their cordless ratchets.
I went with speed. I use a ratchet to remove and install bolts. I have an air ratchet and it's only 160rpms, but any of these ratchets are faster than my hands.
Kind of over extended shifter the button idea is awesome
Hello mate, have you got a video of replacing the rear cam seal plug? Much appreciated, cheers
Did you find it useful to buy both of them, or only 3/8 and use an adapter for 1/4 sockets? Thanks!
The flush mounted direction switch is great as a body tech. Don’t want to have it spinning around damaging stuff in tight areas

Good review thanks how hard is it to change that dial
Can be tricky with the stock one. The raised optional one def makes it easier.
That's what I meant how much work is it to do the optional knob was thinkin abput ordering one
@@patdonovan5106 just a snap ring and drop in.
Which do you find yourself using 1/4 or 3/8 drive for most applications?..im torn on which size to get.
1/4"
Any particular reason? Seems like in the newer high speed line the heads are about same size. Feel like just more options with 3/8? But not sure as I’m looking to purchase myself.
Don't forget me on the royalties 😂

Is this model the newest high speed ratchet by Milwaukee, or is there a newer model number?
The socket sticks out a little bit from the anvil not sure if it's suppose to be that way or not on the 3/8 high speed
The reason I like the more balanced torque- speed ratchets is because I hate having to keep manually ratcheting something after I break it free.
I wish I had some Milwaukee tools!!
Don’t wish buddy just go buy you some.
Do you know if the guts in the head interchangeable on the high speed ratchet? Like could I buy a 1/4 inch tall shift knob assembly and install it on a 3/8 ratchet?
Yes.
@@MrSubaru1387 thanks!
The XC 6.0 battery adds so much more power to it, I still prefer to use the standard CP size stick battery.
M-12 stuff is pretty great.

I just got 1/4, since most of the tight places are small sized bolts/screws
Did he say if he likes it or not ? I’m not sure 🤔
Im just waiting for a decent deal to grab one of these.
Black Friday last year I got the Original rachet, screw driver, battery, and charger for $99. Definitely worth it.
8/26/2022 on sale at HD $139 for the kit
@@drakeforte568 I just got the 3/8 ratchet, 1/4 driver, and 3 batteries for $250. Stoked
is it normal that the head of this ratchet gets really warm quickly? It is a brand new tool.
Is it me or this fuel version a lot louder than the none fuel?
I'm wanting to buy the m12 in 3/8 dr.
Where’d you find the boot for the 1/4 high speed?
Online. Acme tool
I have the non fuel 1/4 and 3/8 m12.
My ratchet just stoped working worked last time used it
🙂👍
14:30 bug on your tool box
I am only here because i feel like its to slow. I was hoping there was a way to make it faster
3:57 the sound and video not in sync was odd, lol
Yeah, I put a close up clip over the video the sound was one. Was too wide angle to really show the drive speed.
The Makita has 800 rpms, too bad their 18v batteries are too bulky.
12v. Not 18
@@MrSubaru1387 They have both.
This Milwaukee is still faster then the Makita I've tested it
those aren't Milwaukee .they are TTI
🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Nobody uses their tools more than a Subaru guy....ha ha ha
