I'm with you Omni, f2p's can still indeed play ROK but the problem is they need to spend a lot more time being active to chain barbs, do barb forts, and gather rss (also build a sht ton of farms) to be able to compete against spenders. Whoever says that they are f2p and can hang with spenders in field fights or whatever with less than 4-5 hours of gaming every day is capping. I made an f2p run, joined the strongest aliance to get maximum rewards, played 6 hours a day, made the right decisions in investing my gold heads and rss, but it still was so hard. So yeah, can play f2p but requires a lot of time.

I want to just say I have never played any mobile game for long but there is just something about this game after you get your first decent march and get to destroy your enemies and make friends. It’s just SO good and I don’t even care for city builders but it definitely quenches that MMORPG appetite I’ve had for quite some time after leaving DDO. Is ROK worth playing in 2024. I stopped playing ROK a while ago because I was very busy in real life. I heard that AOEM was the new thing that was going to finally kill rok so I joined. But after playing AOEM, I can confirm that it's no where near ROK. So yes, ROK is still worth playing in 2024.
As a college student who loves history and has some time here and there and has extra pocket money from time to time, RoK to me is the best game for me rather than other games genres like MOBA.

I started in this game 153 days ago. At today reset we will enter in kvk 2. The game have been fun, but I see dark times coming around. My account has 26M power, making me the strongest f2p in my kingdom. This week I built my first legendary equipment from kvk 1 bp to use in a epic commander. While that, after kvk 1 finished, tons of SOC players migrated to my kingdom (stronger ones migrated to kingdoms that we will face at kvk 2), with several legendary commander maxed (Alex, Saladin, YSG...) with full legendary equipment sets...Yeah, it will be really fun (but not to me).
Rok is kinda like LoL, in the sense that the entire playbase keeps shitting on it but everyone still plays and spends lololol. The game is solid, change my mind.
I'm 24 days away from my 4th RoK anniversary. First, RoK is fun to play--a quality time waster. Secondly, it is absolutely "play to compete" well. I have a farm that fights and fills rallies. That account is F2P and it is significantly behind my low spend main. You can still fight and have fun as an F2P, but don't expect whale level trades on the battle reports. Finally, I do wish RoK was a bit more generous to F2P and accounts transitioning to SoC. Every KvK should return 50% of speed ups and 50% of Rss. And once per year, there ought to be an anniversary ticket to exchange one or two old commanders in return for 50% of their universal gold heads. These kinds of gestures would probably help retain more players. Whales need F2P, and F2P needs whales. Bridge the gap with kind gestures. Just my two cents...
I think when speaking on the game's popularity in the Genre, you should compare it against State of Survival, Clash of Clans, and Grand Mafia. Which are also in the Genre, and are arguably the big 3 in the Genre. Me personally, I've played all three of these, I consider ROK better than them, but it should be pointed out that those games are bigger, but ROK is amongst their prestige
i would like to chalenge you omni to do a f2p series try a f2p acc in the fresh kd nd you will see the true exp of a f2p in rok super hard to be in the top aliances lucky if have a chance to fight or to be in the rewards nd much more nd then maybe you will understand why 1% of rokers reach ch25 not to add the others factors vip (for a f2p how long he will take to reach vip14 years if lucky )gear mats gh gems etc
I know f2ps, being in top 1 alliance isn't hard at least for Kvk1. Be a sleeper account and main infantry it's good for trades but when you're caught lacking on the map the rest is history
if ROK had the option grinders mode and prize for fulltime F2P that will be great. but pros and cons apply. grinders mode need more time to grind in the game to achieve more prize than the normal F2P. With more rewarding, Fulltime F2P feel worth it and can compete against big spenders. More F2P (Farm) in the game will lead to more spenders to come in and fight.
Hope Age Of Empires Mobile makes enough waves to be the wake up call ROK needs because the game is going downhill if you aren't willing to spend or don't spend enough...
If you have already put in 5/6 years. Keep playing. Maybe as casual. But you should still have fun. If you are thinking about starting playing this game. lol good luck to you. Maybe you’ll have a couple of fun months. But just wait until you’re facing players with VIP 20. Let’s see how much fun you will have.
KVK can be really fun, but there is way too much grinding (farming on multiple accounts and barb killing) to be able to sustain that KvK fighting. It also too many KvKs where matchup is bad so takes away the fun. When all things line up it is super good, but there are serious downsides.

ROK should remove action points,. So that free to play players and low spenders can hunt barb permanently with no problem,. Atleast free to play player's can generate more resources, speedups, and 10 gem's in non stop hunting barbarians,. Surely the game will have more active players,.
As someone said, the best way is to buy an old account, with dozen of expertised legendaries. That poor dude, who is selling acc, spent half of his life grinding barbs n rss, played every Ceroli, Olympia, Ian's ballads and other crappy events, and burned 2 amoleds in case he played ROK on a phone. With an old acc, and if willing to be very active, one can join some B seed kingdom and enjoy in social aspect of the game. C & D seeds are too quiet, no one using chat anymore.
If I was RoK, I would keep quiet about the graphical update, to be honest. RoK will still look like you're playing on a Game Boy Colour if you put it side by side with Age of Empires mobile, for instance
You think so? I think it's more about preference in graphical style, ROK isn't going for realism whereas AOEM is. I prefer the stylized graphics of the ROK Remaster but I think that's just preference, even tho I do still think AOEM looks great too
AOEM graphics is actually trash. Especially if you playing on a less powerful device. But ROK is compatible with almost all devices and still looks amazing
i opened the grand cross age of titan the game is totally dead the game is no event etc.. the dev kills of the game because of rediculous nerf rewards altar gurdians aka binzi for free to play, and flying units like balloons went op and powercrept the rest of troops the game is unplayable even game is open in service with no event the devs are abondoned the sinking ship even the game have more potental ...
Unless you like spending money for no value in real life you will not enjoy nearly as much as people who do. It is a lie that the match making is balanced. A lot of whales migrate in as soon as you hit kvk 2, making the new players fight against t5 players since month 4. Even since kvk 1 some players spend their way to t5. With time you'll either leave or start spending so you can enjoy the game. Should you start playing RoK? For most people no, unless you have money to waste.

Why did all the sponsored rok content creators decide to make a video on why they think rok is worth playing on the same day? It’s not very subtle. There is plenty of hype (at least in game) at the moment, lots of new stuff etc. did we really need the marketing push on why rok is worth playing, I don’t know 🤷♂️.
I find that the harshest mechanic is VIP, but the rest is obtainable f2p for the most part. Yes, it's a grind, but equipment, armaments, inscriptions, etc can be done. But VIP 18+, yeah, that's a grind that many may not accomplish reasonably. I've just accepted that I'll likely never see it unless I make a trip to a top alliance in an imperium, and hang out for a few years.... AND never spend another gem on equipment. And I'm a low spender, that's not even as a f2p 😂😂😂😂😂
