It is stupid that I looked up a video like this and got no results. RUclips hates you, but keep making content like this and it’s got no choice but to recommend you
Maybe a good video idea would be you going over all the theory terminology that you use in your videos and explaining them in only the way you are able to (it would also help for people like me who watch your videos, but don’t necessarily understand some of the stuff your saying)
I know the modes but I haven’t built the chords like you do here. I did some searching but with little luck like what are the chords in A Dorian . I know what the chords are built from and the caged shapes . I can’t just run through the chords in a key or a mode . That’s what I want to learn . I really appreciate your calling each note by it’s Greek name . I used to say in a mode, it’s do re mi but it isn’t .
Dorian is the second mode of the major scale. So you find the major scale where A is the second note. The chords in A Dorian are the same as the chords in G major
Thank you Gavin for the amazing video. As a theory nerd, I absolutely love this. I have frequently incorporated voice leading chords into my compositions, though knowing about the passing chord when going down was one I was unfamiliar with. I think we also need a video on that tone. It sounds amazing!
I always have paid more attention too intervals by numbers...not no more...I know my modes and modes of modes. Now I see how I can put them together. This has got to be one of the best theory lessons I've ever had. 🙂
hey man i love your videos your an amazing guitarist , i was wondering if there was any way you could make a short on how you do your Gallop rythm i have been having alot of problems learning it and would be kick ass if u could
10:59 when u said this it all kinda clicked lol. ty 100x also these things seem more quickfire, but perhaps consider editing in some visuals to help a viewer understand a little more intuitively. might take me a couple rewatches to absorb all the information in this video properly. thank u for the vid tho ❤
What string guages would you recommend I use for baritone 6 string guitar if I'm tuning down to Db standard, and since it's a baritone guitar I'll have a low B string that, since I'm tuned to Db standard, would be tuned to Gb, to give the low 2 strings that drop D type feel/sound, only much lower. Would the Ernie Ball 6 string baritone Slinky set work do you think? Those guages are from low to high: 72, 56, 44, 30, 18, 13.
oh boy you should really dive a little bit into music theory before you start doing instructional videos. i have no idea why your videos keep ploping up in my yt but anytime they come i get curious what obscure thigs and half truth things you are talking about.
Archspire shirt, coolest and best guitar teacher confirmed
This is undoubtedly the premier guitar page. No doubt, next level theory with easy to understand presentation. Bravo!
This is truth! Hope Gavin sees this

Great video! Super helpful! But when you don’t have your hands on your guitar how does it stay in place without a strap in classical position 😨
thank you 😊
Sounds Megadeth in my darkest hour.
So how would you figure out if a chord is mixolydian, Phrygian etc. inside a given chord progressions?
Is this what they call borrowed chords or the parallel scale when you use an out of key note or chord?
Thanks man really helped me writers block 🙏🔥🔥
My writers block*

Hi Gavin
Do you still offer private Zoom lessons?
I know Gavin is helping me, but I tend to get absolutely lost during music theory even with his help
Uhh yeah,
