I gave this a "like" because I remember all these songs...and I still like all of them! So, according to "critics," I have no taste. I don't care about "critics!" Thanks for the trip back to the 1980's!
This list was obviously compiled by someone who wasn't around in the 80's and has NO idea what they're talking about! Don't judge our music, stick to your own era!
You are right and I see the proof all over. my 12 year old step sons were singing “never gonna give you up “ for months as part of an online meme. “Don’t worry be happy” has been in recent commercials and movies, as was “Final countdown “. Critics do need to get a grip and stay in touch with what people like.
They said it was the only song to be a hit in the USA that was in German, but "99 Luftbalon" was also a hit, both in German and in English, several years later.
@@jacklow9611 Rock Me Amadeus was the only #1 hit in the USA recorded in German. But there was an English version that also got plenty of airplay. 99 Luftballons wasn't a #1 hit in the USA. It peaked at #2 in 1984.
@@barrydavid6634 80s music had some highlights and many more lowlights. I was brought up listening to more meaningful music and more lasting music from the 40s 50s 60s and 70s, they all had (in my humble opinion) more highs than lows.
I find your and my opinion to be an aberration and fairly uncommon. I do actually believe that lots of good music came out in the 90s.......and that OVERALL, the 90s was comparable to the 80s, musically. I've always opined, and still do, that much of the art of making melodic, catchy, talented music went WAY DOWNHILL in the 90s, much more so than the 80s. I've long, long noticed (one of many examples) that everyone loves Nirvana and hates 80s hair metal. I'm the opposite: By the end of the 80s, I will always be the first to admit that hair metal had LONG grown old and became a self-parody and outlived its purpose and usefulness. However, Nirvana's songs are non-melodic and sound like people who woke up depressed with no passion and creativity. Their so-called 'music' is grating, annoying, stupid. 80s metal has ALL the key advantages over Nirvana and similar 90s genres to Nirvana. It's amazing to me the sheer percentages of people who can't see this and who's musical tastes are entirely the opposite of me...
70s, 80s with a large amount of great songs, especially the one hit wonders in the 70s, then 90s it seemed to slow down but still had some great ones then but not as consistent, something really changed from 2000 on.
Yeah but most of the good songs in the 90's were from artists from the 70's and 80's still making music in the 90's. Grunge and gangster rap was horrible
Not all of these songs are my personal favorites, but most of them are pretty good. I notice the critics' unfavorable assessments are included with every song. Screw the critics!!!
With the exception of The Safety Dance & Mickey, these songs proved the artists could actually sing & hold a note. You can't say that about today's artists. I'm not a fan of any of these songs but the talent is undeniable.
If you change the title to "Amazing songs of the 80s," you'd have it right. I don't know what you're talking about. I LOVED these songs in the 80s, and I still do! You got it wrong with this one.
There are always going to be "critics " ... luckily, their views do not dictate what is right or wrong. Growing up in the 80s was the best time of my life... That's just my perspective.
I no longer trust what Rolling Stone magazine publishes. That questionable top 10 list was likely created by someone with a biased perspective who doesn't appreciate these songs. These critics are akin to those who dislike movies, yet these movies gain more popularity. Consequently, the songs also become popular.
Btw, Rick Astley is not haunted by Never Gonna Give You Up. He has bought into the Rickrolling meme. He was very happy when he rickrolled the crowd at the Macys Thanksgiving parade.
I still listen to Taco's "Puttin' On The Ritz" and still love it. My kids (adults now) have always liked. Who put this list together? (I do agree about Rick Astley, though) And, moving right along: "Rock Me Amadeus"? "Final Countdown", which was a huge arena hit? In the words of Judge Judy, you need to put your listening ears on.
@barrydavid6634 No argument from me! This is just my own opinion, and I wasn't a fan. I know many people liked his songs, and they were certainly catchy. 😊
I always like all the songs on the Rolling Stone worst list. I always find their best of lists boring. They're so hung up on the "cool" factor. I'm tired of the "It's only good if I like it" attitude. Also, that song didn't haunt Rick Astley, it brought him out of retirement because he owned it.
Rolling Stone is over rated, most of these songs still play and some even made comebacks. To say something “sucks” you need the data to back it up and I just don’t see that
I don't pay attention to critics about songs or movies, I'm an individual who likes what I like, i don't push what I like on people, because everyone has their own taste.

What songs do you think are the worst from the 1980s? 🤔
"Never going to give you up" and "Mickey" should not be on this list.
I would think that any of the songs on the albums that did not chart would be the worst. Are you asking the worst that charted in maybe top 50 or 100?
@@kevinstreeter6943I agree
@@kevinstreeter6943 Never gonna give you up is one of the best songs of the 80s
None of these. Critics don't know sh!t.
If you think these are bad we can't be friends .just go.
👏👏👏👏👏
Agreed
I agree they were some great songs on this list
All these songs are better than most of the song coming out today.
I 100% agree!
Not most, ALL!!!!!!!
You can say that again.
That's exactly how I've felt since around 2010. 😆
This narrator must’ve not been around in the 80s

Music critics are cynical a**holes who can't get laid. - Adam Sandler.
I remember them all to and they were all on the top 10 for weeks
Generally, if the critics (both music and movies) dislike something, that means it's good. Critics don't know sh!t imho.
Especially when it's Rolling Stone magazine saying what's bad. They have no idea what is bad, because they, themselves, would be mentioned.
If these are the 10 worst songs of the 80’s, then this further justifies that the 80’s had the very best music! All 10 are great songs!
If they've been used in commercials and movie soundtracks, then they can't be the "worst" songs.
Totally agree!!!!
Whoever made this list obviously wasn't alive during the 80s!
Yes, commercials and soundtracks definitely have the best music. 🤮
Totally agree, whoever made this list either isn't from the 80s or just doesn't get music. I still listen to all of these regularly.
It has been proven over the years, critics don't like what everyone elsedose.
Should be called The Worst list of Worst 80's songs. I like all these songs!!!!
Rolling Stone is the nr 1 on the list of sh%t magazines !
Couldn't have said it better. Comp!every agree.
A bunch of stoners who somehow got their hands on a printing press

Rick Astley, Men without hats and Wham on this list and the Final Countdown too?? Come on…
Nothing wrong with any of these songs.

Yeah, annoying songs, sure, but not worst.
By annoying, i mean overplayed, not bad.
And the background info is not accurate.

These songs are not bad, there is more talent in these artists in this video, than anything we have today. ❤😉😊💖👍
All good songs Rolling Stone magazine sucks and so does its readers!
You are so wrong!!! All of these songs were, and are still great!!! Whoever said these were awful songs are on drugs!!
I must be the only former 80s party animal who absolutely loves Never Gonna Let You Go. Damn it's a great song!
No story in the words
It’s an awesome song!
If you're talking about the Rick Astley song, it's " Never gonna give you up." I honestly believe it does not belong on this list 👍
Ok, I only have one question. On what planet were these critics from? These are some of my favourite 80’s songs
Putin's on the Ritz by Taco is awesome! Wtf man...
I agree. The critics who read Rolling Stone must be high on something strong.
Foo Fighters pulled Rick Ashley on stage and gave a rocked out version of Never Gonna Give You Up. This song was and still is awesome!
With the possible exception of the song about Amadeus by Falco, all these songs were huge hits. This list is absolute nonsense.
