I would've attached a steel mesh to the front , it would not bend unless a huge amount of force rammed it , but it still would have protected the radiator from damage
After seeing how open the radiator was I thought about protecting it with screen but just never got around to it. It's fixed and sold now so it doesn't really matter. I will protect the next one better.

I would weld a piece of expanded metal in front of the radiator to protect it. The styrofoam doesn't seem to reliable.
That piece isn't styrofoam. It's more like a soft foam. I think it would have kept the old radiator safe.
