He's done a good amount of Australia-related content, some of it fairly recently. Cheers.

I’m interested in Australia’s largest military build up since WW2. There appears to be a defence spending announcement almost weekly….There are jigsaw pieces slowly coming together to build a picture with respect to an integrated “credible deterrent” as described by ScoMo….what is it ultimately going to look like…and will it be able to put a carrier battlegroup on the bottom of the Coral Sea if required?

I'd love to see a breakdown and a blow by blow of the 2003 Iraq invasion. There's some great documentaries and RUclips's that have gone into the day by day tactical movements of the first golf war but the second is a bit of black hole. So would love to see you put your skills together on that!

I think the information you give on your videos is by far the best researched and explained than any other channel. I love the ones you have done on the ADF as it is very hard to get anything decent on it on RUclips. I would enjoy watching anything you put up on military history but being an ex digger I have a soft spot for your excellent videos on the ADF. Keep up the good work. Cheers!

Would really like to hear about past, modern Australian campaigns. However the forward looking strategic stuff is incredibly interesting and topical, given the current climate, especially considering your focus on Australia as it is often only lightly touched upon, which seems odd considering our position as a regional power.
    Exceptionally thorough and engaging content.

Contemporary military analysis is the content I would like to see more of. Particularly consideration and assessment of new/emerging trends in the Indo-Pacific; and how a military historian would view and understand them. For Example:
What should we make of India's Act East Policy?
What will be the impact of the proliferation of submarines in South-East Asia?
Will advances in missile technology meaningfully change the character of war? And if so, how?

I'd really love to see a video on Gallipoli, it would tie in nicely with your previous video about Australia's recently acquired amphibious capabilities. The battle could probably serve as a good case study for the challenges of sustaining an expeditionary amphibious force. It would also be interesting to hear about what the battle was like on the tactical level fighting in such undulating terrain.

Thanks and congratulations! I thought your treatment of the F 35 was a well researched and balanced view of an "hysterical" aircraft. I personally would love some in-depth stuff on the PNG/Solomons campaigns of WW2. My Uncle (for whom I'm named) was a Military Cross winner in New Guinea. The RAAF was treated derisively by England with the out-dated, worn out and poor performing aircraft they were asked to operate with early on. If the USAAF hadn't come to our rescue with some decent aircraft, the Japanese would have achieved air superiority.

  • @aussiemilitant4486

I dont use social media, so had no idea about your back ground, however, I knew you were trained as your research and script writing is second to none. When you reach a bigger milestone for subscribers you will have to improve the video side of things a bit, I'm not complaining as I mostly listen and my mind/imagination does the rest for me.
Have you done much research on the Australian Navy battles around Australia during WWII, one in particular stands out for me, The Battle of Savo Island. It stands out for me because of the 70+ year hush up over the friendly fire incident which involved the USA Destroyer USS Bagley (DD-386) laying a spread of torpedo's at the start of the battle and striking the Heavy Cruiser HMAS Canberra on the starboard side, effectively knocking her out of action. There is a great video of this battle by the channel called 'Montemayor', but he neglects that part of the battle as there would not be much 'easily reachable' information about this. I wonder with your research skills and the fact your Australian, maybe you might have some better luck to dig up more information about this tragic episode in Australian WWII history.
Have quite enjoyed the video's so far, and if your looking to do some Australian WWI/WWII content can we get off the beaten track a little and talk about lesser know campaigns/battles. I think the Timor campaign would be a good one, or as you stated Borneo/Tarakan/Balikpapan etc. Its not that I dont enjoy the more well known parts of our history, but to get new perspectives on the lesser known would be very well worth it. The Korean War has some very very important episodes in Australian Military History, which doesnt get much daylight aswell, this would be a welcome addition i feel. There are also the Malay Emergency and the Indonesian Confrontation which, generally speaking, 98% of Australians dont know even know about, some content on these could also shine lights on the lesser known episodes of the Cold War era.
End of the day whatever you post I'm sure I will enjoy, as will others. Thanks for the effort you put in, very much appreciated mate.

Need a program on WW1 Beersheba, how the Aussie Light Horse took the place, and the British Empires "Egypt Expeditionary Force" claimed the victory. Also a deep analysis of Prime Minister John Curtin's decision to form a Pacific Alliance with the USA against the wishes of Churchill, enabling the defence of Australia by an Australia/US partnership. That was probably the most significant decision by an Australian PM in the 20th Century, and it marked the dissolution of any influence of the "British Empire" over the Commonwealth of Australia. Your videos are great.

Hey mate. Love what you do. Given the current geopolitical climate around China, I'd love to see a video that helps understand the viewpoint of China and why they have decided to position themselves the way they have? Why do they believe they don't have to play by the rules? Why are they choosing to be an aggressor? What are there weaknesses both militarily and politically? What can we learn from their past that can help us understand their intent?

Love the channel mate, brilliant! Well done on 5K. Really liking the modern content especially how you cover not only system at hand but it’s integration into the overall ADF scheme.
The battle of Wau video also really stood out for me. I’d never heard of it before and I found it so interesting and the level of detail was great.
    Suggestions for future vids
    - modern content/systems relating to ADF and allies.
    - WW2 and after relating to lesser known battles were the ADF was the principle allied force involved.
    Here’s a q&a question for ya.
Is there a comparable time in history were we can compare the current rise of China and its challenge to US supremacy? What were the similarity’s and how did it unfold?

  • @CP-kp7on
    @CP-kp7on 3 года назад +1

Mate, you are an absolute legend for what you do. Your videos are incredibly informative
and they are by some of the best educational videos on Tik Tok.
Personally, i'd love to hear more about the war in Iraq. I think a lot of people are
mis-informed about the war, so it'd be great to get a qualified answer on why things
went down the way they did. I also think it may the best decision for you to do
this because of the YT algorithm.
The patreon idea is great. It might be worth looking into some of tricks that more popular
content creators employ here on YT to boost views and so on. Going forward, I think more modern military analysis
will produce a far better pay-off for yourself, given history is a relatively niche interest.

First of all, great channel, congratulations and thankyou for your hard work and super informative contributions. for future endevours, I would love to see you do an episode or two (or even a series) on Australian-developed Military Tech through the lat 100+ years i.e. WW2 Owen SMG, WW2 'sentinel' tank, Bushmaster APC, Nulka Decoys, Ikara ASW weapons system, CEA radars, WW2 beaufort/Beaufighter program, CAC Boomrang and Avon Sabre fighters etc... Alternately a series on Australian battles and tactics during 1917/18 on the western front in WW1 would also be sensational.

As an Australian and an armature military historian I love your videos. As much as I say, when it come to military history there isn't much I don't know, I have still learnt new things in your videos. Especially your video 'A Modern History of the ADF' I learnt a lot more about our doctrines and policies shaping our currant ADF.
While I'd love to see a series on Australia in the pacific war from you, I'm reading two books on Milne Bay atm, my pick for a new video would be on John Curtin. I'd love to hear your opinion of him as I feel he is not only our best wartime PM but our best PM overall. Between Curtin and Chifley, they laid the foundations of our modern Australia. Anyway that's my 2 cents.
PS a book recommendation for these topics is Pacific 360: Australia's Battle for Survival in World War II by Roland Perry.

Congratulations. Well deserved. My Masters is in history of religion, but I've blurred the borders a bit by extending more into the history of social and political ideologies. Among other sources, I've found some wonderful material in the epic BBC documentaries of Adam Curtis.
In terms of military history in New Guinea I think comparatively little has been explored about the activities of non-AIF units (apart from 39 Battalion). I have a personal interest; my father was a company commander in 30th battalion (not 2/30th) after being one of the few permanent soldiers prior to WW2 (in the Australian Instructional Corps). I have a copy of their excellent Battalion history that covers from the defence of the northern beaches of Sydney, similar operations in WA, war fighting in New Guinea around Saidor / Sio and the capture of Madang. Later my dad was Chief Instructor at the School of Infantry. Lots has been written about the 4 AIF divisions, but not so much about the eight or so WW2 militia divisions.

7.5 years in theatre, 80k sorties, 47k flight hours, zero fatalities. www.awm.gov.au/articles/encyclopedia/vietnam/wallaby_airlines
Edit: I've raised this as a topic suggestion occasionally on other youtube history channels, would be great if it ended up being covered by an Aussie! Cheers mate.

i loved the Caribou's, marvellous airframes. They provided such a service, not sure if we have that same capability nowadays.

@@aussiemilitant4486 I've seen A4-210 fly a couple of times at Wings Over Illawarra Airshow. Hearing those big radials wind up to full power and seeing it leap into the air in a couple of hundred metres is a sight to behold! Regarding current capability, I think the Super Hercs and Spartans have us pretty well covered. The Hercules has certainly proven itself to be at least as tough as a Caribou, even if it needs a bit more takeoff distance. Cheers

@@sixstringedthing yeah I agree with you, but that STOL capability would be a excellent addition for Home Defence, using bush airfields etc. Maybe my thinking is stuck in the past a bit

How about doing something on the Australian involvement in the Malayan Emergency and the Indonesian Confrontation? They mostly get forgotten and eclipsed by the Vietnam war.

I think what would be cool on WW2 would be time based tiktoks or YT vids as a series, as in a TikTok on each month of the major things that happened, how that impacted the war as a whole and were victories or losses for either side. I think as an audience without being there it'd be really informative and interesting to see it all unfold and how those battles impacted the allies/axis as a whole?

Would love to see further breakdowns of Australian Military actions during WW2, such as the specific differences between the CMF & AIF or the Lae amphibious operations. These are areas that I would love to study but as someone caught up in the joys of a Masters in SOF & IW as well as shift work the only real tangible way to engage these topics is through researched videos like those that you produce.

Historical history videos are always welcome but I think you need to consider what content you want to cover.
From my perspective the best value would be covering battles/campaigns that are known about, but are not often covered in detail - possibly the New Guinea stuff you mentioned. If you're going to look at doing well known battles/campaigns to garner interest you need to consider finding a "new" angle - i.e. cover an aspect that hasn't been looked at in detail before, or better, challenge an existing common narrative that you believe is incorrect.
If you try the latter you do need to be mindful that some communities don't always like the common narrative being challenged... (looking at you Wehraboo's)
