The thought of Shinto continuously harassing Grey here despite roles being swapped is quite funny to me. I can imagine the ending where instead of Shinto dying she catches Grey again and you just hear a muffled rage scream in the pokeball before it cuts out.

What I like about this, is that the general concept of the fake Creepypasta of a haunted Copycat Pokemon game works just as well in reverse; instead of Shinto being uncatchable and Grey being a trainer with the soul of a boy, instead Shinto is the trainer who through a bug in the game's coding cannot fail a Monster Capture, basically every time she throws a Capture Ball, it successfully catches the Monster. Grey, meanwhile, was the programmer's attempt at making a "Legendary Monster", and to make it act like a real threat gave it the soul of a real boy. Knowing there's no way it can ever win, Monster!Grey becomes a sobbing, frightened mess who wants to escape capture, to the point where it discovers a way to 'cheat' and breaks out of the Capture Ball, making Trainer!Shinto mad because she's ALWAYS supposed to win, that's why she always looks so happy, because she's always supposed to win. The 'fight' here is Trainer!Shinto angrily berating and fighting Monster!Grey into submission, until Monster!Grey's spirit breaks and it finally let's itself be captured.
