I Have nothing but Respect for you, dude. anyone who can make his living doing a nasty ass job like this and not Puke, or Give up from the back breaking work, is a winner in my book. plus its a job that *HAS* to be done, and you're helping a lot of people by doing it.

I'm going to piggyback off this comment- but I and a few of my coworkers have been debating on taking over the business of one of their fathers upon our retirement.
For context, we're a bunch of cops in one of the worst cities in America( the best one). Anyway, we figured that digging up and draining literal cesspools is easier than the figurative cesspools we deal with currently.

Great work ! Our country requires a 3 year pump/inspection. Never seen my guy use a crust buster, but 3 years probably not enough time to make that kind of crust. The crust buster shur remains me of an ice auger for ice fishing. Cheers from Wisconsin!

I worry about the septic at my dads place. We took the house over after he passed. When I had it pumped the water was almost clear. Granted the house was vacant for almost 2 years when I had it pumped. I wasn’t sure the last time he had it done.
The drain field was redone in 1999. The tank is original from 1972..1000 gal. One port to pump from. Anything I need to worry about? It seems to be working well. Just the age worries me.

Love watching your videos. I have a cottage in Maryland. Put in 1986 , has never been cleaned out. Father in law stated years ago , lid was a shove length away from water shed. Never mentioned a second lid. How far apart should they be roughly? So I can locate & have cleaned out.
Wish I could have you come out. Thanks

How has their leach/drain field survived that lack of maintenance and still be operable?? Seeing these tanks that have never been serviced amazes me that instead of finding the tank and pumping them out, they would be installing a new drain field.

I was helping my buddy find a septic tank with my camera and locator and it wound up being 9 ft under his brand new Ray's gardens built on top of an existing garden. My sea snake says it can locate all the way down to 14 ft underground but I had a hell of a time even going down the 8 ft 8 in to find his tank. What do you guys do if the tank is just too deep for whatever reason?

So, I'm curious, how often do you run across lids that have no handles on them?
I ask this because my tank consists of two compartments with huge concrete slabs on top. No rebar or rubber/plastic handle for either side. Was a real pain in the ass to dig up a few years ago.
