i’m in the process of getting hearing aids. my budget is A$2k - $3k upwards. dr, i welcome your reviews & hope you can & will give us an ave starting retail cost for that aid delivered to your Phoenix office, without all the add ons of fitting, follow up consultations etc. after all one expects a particular model aid to have a stable set price set by wholesaler in a given area. but when XX hearing centre quotes double that figure, you can’t blame consumers for feeling something odd is going on, mybe price gouging. i believe the problem is in the hearing centres themselves who add all the overheads to base hearing aid price when they should be separating them out into realistic components, eg delivered cost of aid, fitting cost, probable follow up consultation costs, risk, profit, etc. etc. then that quote could be checked for fairness in face of competition. so i believe hearing centres should get into the habit of breaking down their quote into fathomable parts, or at least do so when a client asks. sure, still give an all up figure but break it down to checkable parts. no ones blaming you, doctor. rather i believe it’s the quoting traditions of the hearing centres. we all know they’re in a low turnover high margin industry.
What do you say about an insurance in-network provider that consults you, tells you a price and you sign an understanding of what device you are requesting. then 2 days right before you get the device they say that insurance might not pay what it says they will and they can’t give me the hearing aid ordered, but we can go with a lower tech/cheaper device. But they refuse to send the insurance the CPT codes, diagnostic, and a pre-authorization (although not required). Insurance has contacted and I’ve asked and the information is still not being provided to insurance….
Perhaps a "boilerplate" statement imprinted on the screen at the start and end of a video to emphasize that no specific pricing for goods or services is provided in this presentation.
Hey cliff so I'm just watching this exact vlog right now and it got me thinking you always say in every review even in your disclaimer you can't discuss hearing aid pricing I think I'm the only one who gets that but glad you made this vlog for people who don't
Is there a website where I can compare prices for hearing aids from different providers in my area? Also do hearing aid manufacturers ever have sales or promotions?
wow lyric charges about 5k a year give or take? thats insane,,i could see charging 7k for the initial purchase then maybe around 1500.00 a year to keep them updated,,thats just gouging the public charging that much per year when you know its probably only costing the company 100 dollars in manufacturing cost to produce another set..
Dr. Cliff … working with the public myself I can assure you that people “ hear” generally what they want to “Hear” and I’ve been watching you for years .. you have NEVER quoted an “exact” price you only stated about price range for OTC hearing aids and from my recollection when discussing prescription Hearing aids you’ve stated “ According to Technology level one can expect different price range “ you never quoted an “ exact” price number… to my recollection you NEVER have ..Please continue on with your quality videos …I always look forward to each and every video
That’s too bad to hear. Thanks for getting out in front on this. I have a question for a future video. I’m a Widex Moment user and am hoping you can offer a review for the just released Widex SmartRIC aids.
I've been watching your VLOGS and other media for several years now and I can vouch that you always say the cost varies by region and by individual providers again saying the care you get after purchase may have a big impact on the total price. At least I've never heard you give a fixed price unless it is something a retailer like Costco charges so I can only say this is 99% true as I may have missed a few videos. I'm not sure AI is involved with this as to some extent I think people hear what they want to or expect to hear which is not always correct. I'm sure any married man can vouch that his spouse would swear he said something he never did.
@Dr.Cliff - I have A set of Oticon Reals. And now there is a new model called Oticon Intent. Do you think Intent is much an improvement over the Reals and worth upgrading? Also I get a lot of occlusion when I talk. I'm using an 8mm open dome. Any recommendations? Thank you.
I'm in the process of getting hearing aids. I've been watching your videos to understand what I have to do once I get them. I haven't seen them all of course but you repeatedly say you can not quote prices for the reasons you are stating now. Don't panic, no need to defend yourself. I suspect that people are simply CLAIMING that you made such statements in order to bargain. No telling what some people will do for a bargain. Tell any provider who accuses you of putting out false information to ask the client to identify the video where you made such claims. The client will have to back down claiming that they can't find it or that it was taken down etc. If they do indeed produce such a video, you may well discover if someone is using AI against you. I understand how much this means to you but calm down. From my experience with your videos you are not guilty of this sort of infraction.
Daniel, what you say sounds reasonable, but from my experience I know people hear what they want to hear. They mistake what they actually hear to what they want to hear. I am very careful and deliberate to what I verbalize to people, but invariably they say back to me things I did not say. They change what is said to what they want to be true, no kidding. I am a retired R.N. but remain licensed so I am very careful what I actually say regarding interventions. It is very frustrating, but the bottom line is, people do not listen well and often interject what they really want to hear.
Ah so cliff you're saying someone could basically create a deepfake of you using an AI actually there have been a few cases like that over the years even of tom cruise it's absolutely crazy what AI can do these days it's honestly amazing 🙀
Wow, Cliff ... it's weird to think that there may be avatars of you out there spouting a different message than the real you would. 🤔 Of course, it could be something as simple as "wishful thinking" or maybe a faulty memory. 🤷♀️

Not a bad idea.

You don't realize how expensive it is to do Lyric from a manufacturer or clinic perspective. And that's if everything goes perfectly.

Buy it online directly it is much cheaper. Also the same expensive hearing aids are cheaper in Asia.
Flagship hearing aids prices have stayed about the same for my experience talking with audis about them 6k-7.5k , Oticon goes above that
My pair by Audibel (a Starkey brand) were just over $7,000 for the pair. I don't do the rechargable, I do the ones with batteries.
That’s too bad to hear. Thanks for getting out in front on this.

They're sending me a set to review. I'm in Australia for the next 10 days but will work on my review when I get home.
Glad about the clearing up the issue. I like the info you give on different brands. AI is getting to be a scary mess.
Hi doctor Cliff
These days HA coming out with AI but some HA don’t . Is it worth buy HA with AI , is the diff in hearings that great .
What's the difference between a prescription and OTC hearing aid, and does the audiologist write and then fill the prescription?
I have several videos on this topic, but yes an Audiologist will recommend and treat you with Rx hearing aids.
They cost 10,000 dollars I New Zealand, I know that because I just got hearing aids for both ears
I think I have watched every video you have made and I don't ever recall you giving a price for hearing aids as there are to many variables

Dude,
They have bad hearing, they're buying hearing aids, why expect them to hear anything correctly?
That's actually a valid point.
Sounds like a reputation/character assassination scam.
