I don't think there is such thing as low tier in Super Smash Bros. Little Mac was "low tier" so I thought it would be easy to be beat him. Then I learned he is a monster on the ground, super armor, invincibility, strong counter, etc. Ganondorf has super strong smash attacks that are extremely long ranged, heavy armor and other such stuff. The only one I think is not very good is Dr Mario, because his horizontal recovery is pretty bad. But other than that he is Mario, but stronger.

I won't deny that Ganondorf's incredibly fun to play, but it wouldn't take more than a few tweaks to give him more survivability, speed, AND competitive viability. Since he's essentially a slower and stronger version of Captain Falcon, tune some of his frame data to encourage short bursts of movement AND damage as opposed to combo strings. - Give his initial dash (before the sprinting animation) the same speed and range as his dash attack. Increase the distance of his first jump as well. - Remember how Palutena got some of her specials from 4 integrated into her new moveset? Let Ganondorf do the same by charging his current specials. Examples: --- Tap B during his Warlock Punch (before his arm is pulled back) to get the faster version with less end lag and the bigger AoE. Let this AoE linger for a short time and destroy most projectiles and throwables to counter zoners. --- Hold side B to get the non-grab version with longer range, super armor and a multi-hit hitbox but slightly more end lag. Take away the helpless state after both versions so he can still use his other recovery move. --- Hold up B to get the non-grab version with super armor and more damage/knockback/range. --- Hold down B to get the longer-range, penetrating version. Change its knockback to straight up (or down if it hits an aerial opponent, and not just on the sweetspot). Alternatively, make the charged version a counter attack that teleports on top of the opponent for reduced damage but the same altered knockback. These changes, if implemented, would make Ganondorf more mobile and versatile, less vulnerable against faster/projectile-happy fighters, more in line with the DLC, and more of his own character while maintaining homage to his original template, and still being balanced with weaknesses like still being overall slow and predictable if you don't get creative. Considering the devs brought back the old Zelda/Shiek dynamic with Pyra and Mythra, this kind of tune-up on an older character shouldn't be out of reach for them.

There is one thing every Smash player fears regardless of skill level and understanding of certain tech features and combos they acquire throughout their journey to be a good smash player… and that is a Ganon who knows EXACTLY what their doing… Kazuya may have looked broken at first but nothing beats Ganon in an all out Hand-to-Hand! Even Light’s Fox suffered at the hand of a good Ganon…
