  • PLEASE THUMBS UP, SHARE, AND SUBSCRIBE...ALSO LOVE COMMENTS! www.sixflagsneworleans.com Join award winning photographer and urban explorer Jason Lanier for his final venture inside of the abandoned Six Flags New Orleans aka Jazzland.
    This is part 2 of a 2 part series and completes a total of 4 videos that Jason has shot inside of the park including his BUSTED, Alone at Night, and Sunrise at Six Flags Videos. A link to his Six Flags New Orleans playlist is listed below:
    • Six Flags New Orleans ...
    In this final journey Jason goes where he's never gone before, and we'd venture to say nobody has ever gone before in their exploration of the abandoned park. He carves through the bushes with thorns and makes his way to the lake that is in the center of the park where he encounters alligators...something that's somewhat of an urban legend about the park that Jason found out to be true...
    It shows you a side and part of Six Flags that very few people have seen and we hope you enjoy it. For those looking to explore the park on their own please note: As of 2014 the park has been completely sealed up on all entrances and there is constant surveillance of the park by police and private security.
    As amazing as it is to explore it just isn't accessible like it once was. We hope everyone takes that into consideration when watching this video. Jason entered when it was left unattended and wide open, not being used by the city or anyone else. The risks to enter now are incredibly high...please be advised that it is not something we recommend.

    10:48 "One thing to listen for is hissing, alligators hiss." However, the really well fed ones don't, they just keep real quiet until a photographer comes along. ;-)

    man, i really want to go there...but i never considered how tough it was getting through the bushes and trees....i mean, ten years is plenty enough time for stuff to grow. i'm surprised it isn't completely overgrown.

    Here in Australia we have Crocodiles and they are not so friendly as your gator's Your more game than me getting that close to them. Wouldn't do that here as the crocs would eat me.

    I've been greatly enjoying each and every one of these Six Flags videos! I've somehow always managed to feel the excitement you've possibly felt while adventuring in that abandoned park. I swear my heart has been pounding like crazy everytime you've said that there's someone in the park besides you. I love abandoned places in general, but there really is something special about Six Flags New Orleans. Never been there in my life and I know I will never get even close to it, other than through all these videos there are all around RUclips. This has been great, I've enjoyed every moment. Thank you!

    • @JasonLanierPhotography
      @JasonLanierPhotography  9 лет назад +1

      Proud Jackiplite I'm so happy to hear that. It really was a labor of love for me and this video is my final entry into this project...unless at some point the park is sold etc. and I get invited to come and document the place. I am in contact with some folks who are trying to restore the park but that won't happen until the city decides it wants to make it happen. So far that's 10 years and counting. It's all locked up now so getting in isn't an option. It's weird but now that the last video is released and all the pics are out...it makes me a little sad because that's all I have left of this place. Hopefully I'll be able to get access at some point from someone who cares about the impact this park had on the community and what it symbolizes for the whole Hurricane Katrina event...

    • @LeavingForVenus
      @LeavingForVenus 9 лет назад +2

      Proud Jackiplite I agree with you. I actually live in BR which is an hour from N.O and it is a dream of mine to just walk around this place but I can't take the risk as a Mother and a wife I don't need any legal trouble and not to mention New Orleans is a very high crime city so as a female walking around there it's just not a good idea. I live vicariously through people like Jason's adventures because I don't think I'll ever go there. We hear on the news from the time to time that they are considering tearing it all down and building a strip mall but nobody ever does anything with it. I kinda hope they don't so it can still remain an intriguing place for photographers. Unfortunately the thugs and taggers are the ones that ruin it for people like you and I and Jason that just want to witness the eery beauty of it because they get in there and vandalize and tag and steal stuff. I love abandoned places but this place is by far my favorite to see!

    • @LeavingForVenus
      @LeavingForVenus 9 лет назад +1

      Jason Lanier I am in Baton Rouge which is an hour from this place and the last I heard was they were considering buying it and building a sporting store or a strip mall. I really will be shocked if they ever do anything with it productive because New Orleans is really known for it's crime and it's under sea level so if we have another storm which is always very likely it's a huge liability for any business that wants to set up shop there. Thank you for sharing your journey with all of us because this is my favorite place ever and when you said it was your favorite place on earth I could not agree more. I think people like you that just want to get in and capture it's beauty should be allowed to but the people who want to go in for the wrong reasons really ruin it for harmless people like yourself. I am so close to this place but I'll probably never get to actually go because I'm not willing to take the risk lol But I also wouldn't be getting anything out of it like your stellar shots so it's not quite worth it for me.

    Hey Jason well worth the wait, the tension really builds and for a moment I thought this guys going to wade out into that lake.With all the interest you have brought to Six flags I find it hard to believe the city can't find a backer to reinstate such a wonderful place. You produce such stunning shots and under such poor conditions, can you imagine what you could do if the City gave you a permit to go in with your crew .They are crazy to lock this treasure away. Thanks again Jason and look forward to meeting you in Pinewood.

    • @JasonLanierPhotography

      ***** Tony, thank you so much. Do you know how many times I've thought...man, I could do SO MUCH MORE with this place if I had the time to set up, could bring in gear, shoot at the right time, etc. It would make my shots even better. Believe me, I've reached out to the city since my visit and no luck....they have no interest in ANY photographer capturing images of this place....which is truly a travesty. Truth is, bureaucrats typically don't get the arts and see absolutely no redeeming value in a place like this. Do you know how many times people at the city level (cops too) say to me, "I don't get it. Why do you want to photograph an ugly place like this?" It's just mind boggling. I understand we all have different visions, and as artists we see things that others don't. What I don't understand is why the bureaucrats don't allow us artists to do our thing...because we all know that they tend to do their thing regardless of what we think....food for thought.

    Love the videos. I had been there when it was operating about 3 times, once when it was Jazzland, and twice after 6 flags had taken over, and it was no 'Real' 6 flags by any means, but it was quite an enjoyable place. Sad to see it in such horrible shape, but it's also beautiful by it's own right in it's disarray.

    you may think differently if youre a new orleander, but at this point the city should terminate any talk of redevelopment & keep these ruins as a memento. surely the remaining rides have enough structural integrity to last 100 years at least, perhaps after six becomes a piece of history like jazzland did before it.

    • @Speckledtrout71
      @Speckledtrout71 9 лет назад

      Makes sense...kinda. But living here in the area I can honestly say it doesn't matter where you park people don't care around here. Cars are broken into, people are mugged or worse, homes invaded etc...in broad daylight. It's sad. But true.

    • @JasonLanierPhotography
      @JasonLanierPhotography  9 лет назад +1

      Jason McKinnon The honest reason is because there isn't any legal place to park for at least a mile around the park. The last thing you want to do is park illegally and have your car TOWED. As exhausting as the walk was back to the car after spending hours there, walking back and finding your car gone would be devastating.

    • @Speckledtrout71
      @Speckledtrout71 9 лет назад

    Great adventure as usual Jason. I love the passion and commitment to what you do. There is satisfaction to capturing these images forever. I recently went to an abandoned water park (since the 80's) and took some photos, went back 6-weeks later to do it again and a land developer had already cleaned things up. It felt a bit surreal to know I was probably the last person to capture the park in an overgrown state. Do you have any plans to head out to Perth Australia in the next 12mths?

    • @JasonLanierPhotography
      @JasonLanierPhotography  9 лет назад +1

      Redback OO I'm trying to make it out to Australia...the problem is the place is so BIG that I have a lot of different places to go...I've been there before but not to Perth and I know there are some awesome places out there. It really is surreal to think that you're the last person to capture imagery of a place before it's torn down. I think we tear things down way too quickly before realizing what we are wiping away. I understand things can't stand forever, but I think society should do a better job at allowing photographers to chronicle things before they are destroyed...

  • @Waya525
    @Waya525 6 лет назад +1

    Jason, I would not be standing there, teasing the gators by standing there or possibly a snake or boars, all of whom have taken over the park. The park has been already photographed by other urban explorers, when the park was less dangerous. I would not go down there or encourage others to go there. Best to leave this site alone for the professionals to take care of. The city is making quite a bit of money using the park as a filming location (Zombieland, Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters, Jurassic World) so you're likely to get a ticket and a fine.
