This is wild. Legit just got this as a Christmas gift and finished the final story just this Sunday. Absolutely loved this story and immediately went to the absolute top of my list of favorite comic stories of all time and the history behind this character is so interesting. Alan had his name removed because they altered his work. They drew panties on Mike Moran's wife in some scenes and altered the dialogue where Kid Miracle called the fire drake the " N " word. Totally unnecessary changes for a book marked for mature readers.
I discovered the stories in 1982 in one of the first comic shops I ever visited. They had a couple of copies of Warrior. I instantly fell in love with character & Moore's writing. I've collected the series in every format it's been printed in. If they do a Gallery Edition, I'll buy that too.
The character deserves wider recognition. An accurate movie, live-action or animated would be great. A streaming series ala Invincible would be great as long as they stay faithful to the source.

Solid video, appreciate the overview at first as I haven't read this yet either. I missed out on a lot of Alan Moore back in the day, finally started his Swamp Thing, I'll add this to the queue.
This blew my mind when it made it over here in the '80s. I've got the original Eclipse trades and the HCs Marvel put out about 10 years ago.

Lol, I'm with you on the casual reader. I got into comics with Image and the Bad Girl comics when I was in High School, and I've had a pull list since then too. But I still haven't gotten too a lot of the classic runs from DC and Marvel. Honestly my brain confuses Miracle Man and Animal Man for some reason... 2 runs I have to check out. Seeing you check out the non-spoiler section it reminds me of Alan Moore's take on Supreme, which is another great comic!
Easily one of the best comics series plus the story behind book is just as interesting. Definitely should be on more top, best lists.

I'm so glad you loved it man. I hope you'll catch up to Neil Gaiman's current Miracleman series one day. It's definitely worth a shot, and it looks like they're about to set him up for a huge event with him crossing over to the 616

I saw this at my LCS and really want it, even tho I have those 4 Marvel HCs, but yall know how it is. Great story, great villains, dark and violent, definitely a surprise. I laugh every time I see "Written By The Original Writer" on these HCs tho

So this intro recommendation is what will likely get me into Miracleman, whom I've heard of but have not gotten pulled into yet! 🎉 So here we go... (yeah I only know vaguely about rights issues and unlike say Constantine, don't know much about the character! Granted, I don't know all of the arcs of say Green Lantern though I know the event names n titles...) This is a quintessential top form introduction, Gem Mint! 🎉 📖 📚 🚀 🌌 🎨 ✍️ 🌟 catch up soon then from the 7:00 mark! Kind pro move, brother! 🎉

Yo gem this was one of my 1st reads when I got into the collected editions game. It was released in 3 hardcovers but unfortunately had to sell them. I HAD to pre-ordered this when it 1st came out and remains one of my best reads of all time 🤘🔥
The stories in the back were from the Miracleman Annual #1 circa 2015, based on unpublished scripts by Grant Morrison and Peter Milligan.
Probably one of the most underrated comic books in history. After you read this, you feel that the ultimate story about the superhero genre has been written. Alan Moore at his best.

Yeah, I gotta get this. Love Moore and Miracelman is a hole in my mainstream reading. Are runs by other creators worthwhile-is this book the place to start?

Story sounds so interesting, god we badly need writers like Moore today. It’s just so sad that only a handful of bad editors and higher ups at the big 2 have destroyed the business.

The artwork and the garbage costume design are a turn off for me, but I’ve never heard anything negative about the writing
