    For anyone who is recently watching this video and is wondering which pair of prizm road glasses to buy. I have just gone through this journey.
    I was lucky enough to go to a local store that had all three pairs in stock. I tried them back to back to back. Inside the store and outside in the sun. I ended up deciding to go with the road black pair. There is honestly minimal difference between the road and road black.
    The road black are still fine to use on an overcast day or earlier in the morning, but will also offer the best sun protection when it's a very bright day. So it's a win win for the road black.

    I daily drove Road for 5 years in the desert. Jade didn’t exist yet but even 20% was good for full sun most of the time (depending on mood). I switched to Rose Gold to get more of the iridium coating when I needed new sunglasses. Road Black is probably overkill for most people.

    For DRIVING, do you prefer the Prizm Road series or the Prizm Daily Polarized? This question is for anyone who has used both.

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  2 года назад +1

      Hey there, good question! Graham here from SportRx. First off, for driving we recommend PRIZM Polarized lenses before anything else. With that said, the PRIZM Road series (which was created for cyclists) works well for driving as it is fine tuned for being out on the road. The major differences here, are that the PRIZM Polarized everyday lenses will eliminate all glare and have a slightly lower VLT, while the PRIZM road series will sharply reduce glare.
      As a road cyclist myself, I have worn both PRIZM Road Black, PRIZM Road, and PRIZM Everyday Grey Polarized lenses in the car. Optically, they all work really great. I did notice that in terms of headaches and eye sensitivity, the Polarized option helped a little bit more. I have very sensitive eyes, so for driving I exclusively wear Polarized lenses these days.
      Hope this helps!

    • @sportrxeyewear

      Greetings! If your runs begin early morning then a lens with a higher VLT (Visible Light Transmission) percentage will benefit you more as it lets more light pass through the lens which helps in low light environments. The Prizm Road will accommodate more of this type of lighting condition with a 20% VLT compared to the 13% of the Jade. 🏃‍♀️

    Out of curiosity if someone were to use prizm deep water for commuting by bicycle in NY, would there be any drawbacks compared to prizm road black?

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  3 года назад +1

      That's a good question! No real big drawback, but we don't often push polarized lenses for cycling because there isn't much benefit in your typical cycling conditions to have polarized lenses. The benefit to the Prizm Road Black lenses would be that you are getting a lens designed specifically for the sport and would be the best tailored for you. That is not to say that you need to change your lenses, but we would bet that you have a better experience on the bike with them!

    • @sportrxeyewear

    My prizm road jades are brighter than my prizm roads. Did i get counterfeit or what? They both seem legit. Rosy, the details pop out, but everywhere says jade should be darker. But mine isnt

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  Год назад +1

      Greetings! When set side by side looking from behind the lens, the Jade Road does appear brighter. This is due to the amount of vermillion in the dye compared to the original Prizm Road, which delivers a rosier tone that's perceived as darker. The reason for the lower VLT (Visible Light Transmission) with the Jade has to do with the solid mirror, which is more reflective and therefore blocks more light from passing through the lens compared to the Road's mirror, which is a bit more subtle. Compare the reflection from a front-on perspective and you should notice the difference. Hope this helps! ✌️

    • @sublimechimp
      @sublimechimp Год назад

      @@sportrxeyewear Thanks for the reply! I see what you mean that the Prizm Roads have more rose (vermillion) and appear darker as a result. And the Jades in some sense do appear darker from the front because of the mirror. Absolutely right. I am sure I have authentic Oakleys. But something I’m struggling to understand is how a lens with a lower VLT (jade) can appear brighter (doesn’t that literally mean there’s more visible light coming through?). I think I am conflating two separate factors here, and misunderstanding exactly what VLT means. Please point out my error if you see it. I thought VLT literally meant how bright the world looks while wearing them. Is that wrong?

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  Год назад

      In some sense that is correct. For example, a grey base tint alone compared to a grey base tint coupled with a solid mirror will appear 'brighter' due to the simple fact that more light is able to pass through the lens. But the type of tint also plays a role in perceived brightness as well. For instance, a dark rose tint and a dark grey tint can theoretically have the same vlt percentage. BUT the rose has the effect of making colors in your environment pop and appear 'brighter', while the grey will keep colors fairly neutral. Personal preference aside, there is also the type of surroundings to consider for each tint option. Rose appeals to snowy, mountain surroundings while grey plays well to dry, desert climates.

      Hi Adam! For golf and cycling, most people opt for a rose base tint like that of the Prizm Road, Prizm Golf/Dark Golf, or Prizm Trail. The Rose enhances color and contrast to help identify changes in the terrain for cycling and reading the contours of the course for golf. However, if you're looking for a lens that looks more grey, consider the Prizm Road Black! It has the appearance of a grey tint but still uses rose as its primary base to give you the best of both worlds!

      And for what it is best for??? I mean lenses? Cause I want to use for MBT and Road cycling! also have ordered PRIZM Road Jade and PRIZM Road! :)

      Anytime! The lens is the authentic Oakley Sapphire in appearance but the material is Oakley's Plutonite which is similar to polycarbonate. This material is lighter and more impact resistant than glasss.

      HI Dainius, The Prizm Sapphire is a great lens choice for everyday adventures and the PRIZM Road Jade and PRIZM Road should serve you well on the roads and trails. If you plan to purchase additional lenses try out the Prizm Trail Torch for MTB!

    is the prizm road always polarized? possible to get prizm road in neutral gray polarized? thanks.

      @sportrxeyewear  2 года назад +2

      Hi Juriom! Because the Prizm Road is geared toward cyclists and polarized lenses are generally not recommended for cycling as it can affect one's depth perception especially at high speeds as well as blocking the ability to read bike navigation screens, Oakley does not make a polarized Prizm Road lens. That said, If you're looking for a grey polarized lens, check out their Prizm Grey Polarized!

      @@sportrxeyewear Thank you! Got my second pair of Oakley Sunglasses recently, Radar EV Path w/Prizm Polarized Grey. Like them quite alot, but was wondering what the best choice would be for good Night Vision (Driving at Night, Safety from Radar & LED Lighting*still would prefer Polarized< guess to block Radarwaves better one needs Mirrored ones?)

      @@sportrxeyewear thank you for your answer; are there also mirrored prizm grey polarized, and if yes, what advantage/disadvantage do they offer, apart from hiding the eyes bit more?

    Does oakley have a sunglass lense for colorblind people?

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  2 года назад

      Oakley does not, however SportRx does offer EnChroma lenses that are for color blind people. So we would then be able to put those lenses in some Oakley's for you!

      @@sportrxeyewear thank you. I thought about using them for fishing but seems like i have to buy another pair for that.

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  3 года назад +1

      That is one option...OR you could potentially settle on a PRIZM Everyday polarized lens like PRIZM Ruby and use it for both. We typically steer people away from polarized lenses for cycling because they cut out glare and sometimes it is necessary to spot those puddles or oil slicks ahead of time but some cyclists don't mind a polarized lens.

    prizm road or prizm road jade to double as cycling and tennis glasses?

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  2 года назад

      I think you get a slight advantage with the Prizm Road. A bit more VLT and rose tint helps to better identify the ball for tennis use.

    I may be 2 years late on a video that probably no one else has watched for like a year, but I couldn't help but notice that on the radar EVs, the nose piece is installed wrong! It's inside-out.

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  2 года назад

      Appreciate it! Although, while it does look backwards that is in fact the correct nosepiece installation.

    Jesus, did you need to explain VLT like that, like we're morons dropping $200 on shades and don't know VLT? Pedantic and condescending.
