- As the one year anniversary passes we revisit the Danchee Rdgerock by Redcat Racing. A budget friendly cost, high-performance and in my experience extremely solid durability have made the ridgerock the biggest surprise in RC value for me over the past year. Make sure to check out the full playlist so you can follow along from a box stock truck to the version you see in this video. You can find links to the truck below.
Buy it here! - www.redcatraci...
Check out that slick auto-upright button - had me going like, "WTF, you almost got me!" 😄
I’m still very pleased with mine. My boy loves his. We bought him some upgrades for Christmas this year. I have home made 4 link bars and super swamper bogger tires. His should easily keep up with mine this spring when we ride through the old creek beds here
That’s awesome to have the experience to share between generations! What a great way to bond, teach, learn and just down right fun!!
All I’ve done is put better tires. It’s ok for what it is. I like it.
Workingclass...
What tires did you go with? And are you still using the stock wheels?
I didn't like the color, so i painted mine desert camo, 4 coats camo paint. I needed a fun hobby to help get over the loss of my dog last year, besides e bike trail riding. Got my first crawler at over 65. I changed to much small 1x9 mud terrain and used 2 clips to lower the rear end a little. It just works perfect every time, nothing has broken, battery lasts a very long time. Thanks
I just got one today and absolutely love it.
Good to see the RidgeRock back on the channel👍 it looks really cool with those wheels👌🙂i still need to pick up a rock crawler. Maybe i will get one for myself for christmas 😎😉 once again thank you for sharing and have a great week!
It does have a nice look with those on it doesn’t it! I think the FTX Ravine is available across the pond, identical truck would make a nice purchase for Christmas. Thanks my friend, you have a great week as well 👍
So crazy. I've been watching your videos over the last several months as I slowly came around to bringing one of these crawlers home. Oh, and before I forget.. let me just say that they weren't joking when they say America the Beautiful. The backdrop when you're out in the canyons is unreal. I live on the New England coast so for me it's like watching a Danchee on Mars. Half the time I'm watching the scenery and not the truck.
Anyway, I worked the overnight last night. Got home and before I went into the house, sitting there in the truck it just came over me. JUST GET THE RIDGELINE DUMMY. I end up on summit. Ridgerock is on sale, $111 so I pulled the trigger. I wake up tonight, I think "know what, I'm going drop in on those desert Danchee vids and sus out where he picked up his upgrades from and what do I see? A one year retrospective on your channel uploaded minutes before I hop on and on the day i buy mine. Thats some cosmic ish right there Homey. Anyway, hood lookin' out. Seems I've done everything in my power to not buy a ridgerock. I looked at everything. High and low. Expensive all the way to endless scrolling through Bang and Ali only to realize the the best combo of cost, function, looks and tinkerability is the one right under my nose. I'm sure it's gonna be a blast and your uploads were the deciding factor. Thanks brother. Just wanted you to know I hear you man. I'm listening.
Rock n roll.
Hey thanks for the awesome feedback! The Ridgerock is hard to beat for the price. Most in that price range don’t have upgrades available or they’re not worth investing further into. The Ridgerock can be built and grow with you as you get into the hobby which will give a ton of experience building and driving. The weak points of the truck seem to be the nylon gears in the axles and the steering servos. Mine have not failed but I am quite “gentle” with my equipment. I do plan to upgrade the gears to metal and replace the servos with higher strength/speed/quality. Metal gears are available aftermarket……..if you strip the nylon and need to replace I would go straight to metal. Happy you found the videos helpful and I know what you mean, a lot of this place resembles alien terrain, it’s one diverse planet 🌍 Let us know how the Ridgerock is going for you 👍🤜
My ridgerock rocks.Only mods done are pen spring, injora 1.9 beadlocks with proline 1.9 trencher in predator compound and those wheel balance weight taped to the front servo. It’s awesome on the rocks.Cant really ask more from it.
I have a set of trenchers on the Capra but had not tried them on the Ridgerock. Are you using the standard proline foams and how do the sidewalls handle the 4 wheels steering, any severe buckling? I bet they hook up awesome
@@SonoranScaleStudios no because the Danchee is so light I use the foams that came with the trenchers.I didn’t add any weight inside the injora wheels. It’s amazing
@@SonoranScaleStudios check out Redcat Danchee doing what it does woodie. You’ll see my Danchee
Im about to buy one, i was looking on ebay for possible used ones and happened to find metal gear swaps and portal upgrade but i cant find any videos on the portal upgrades.
I remember making the statements that I’d eventually get one but I have not. And I do t know why! I just saw it on sale for 130$ that’s unreal. This has to be the best value out there. The price vs the performance is untouchable.
That’s the truth! Better performers……..sure, performance relative to price……nothing comes close. I’ve resisted adding an Everest 10 for years, I think it’s time and it might actually be close as a rival. Very similar build, better components but no 4 wheel steer for 180 RTR. If I pull the trigger it will be the next add after the TRX4M’s and the Bronco Scx24 build. Cheers buddy, start dropping some Ridgerock related holiday hints around the house my friend, maybe you won’t have to buy one at all 😀
They are $120 shipped CONUS through Summit Racing.
@@SonoranScaleStudios Plz pick up the everest 10 I've been eyeballing it and wanna know what you think !!!!
wtf here the danchee is $280 & the Everest-10 just increased price today buy $120 to over $350! on Amazon Canada.. i regret not buyin it last week. is there a cheaper place to order to Canada?
@@3solo877 rip its 180 here still
Cool update video. Link those wheels and tyres please! I have my danchee for 9 months, no mechanical mods, only wheels and aesthetics, it's a great truck!
It sure is great! I wish I could link the wheel/tire combo but they are from an old monster truck no longer made. I’d search 2.2 MT tires on Amazon or eBay and I’m sure you can find similar for cheap👍
@@SonoranScaleStudios nice, will do 👍🏽
@@SonoranScaleStudios p.s. i've run two sets of injora tires. 2.2 "swampers" and 1.9 "hyrax". I think they're both pretty fantastic. Saw your injora vids
They make a good product for pretty economical cost for sure. Injora seems to be making a legitimate run at offering a quality product at economy pricing……can’t deny in any longer 👍
I’m debating on whether to get this or the TRX4-M for an affordable crawler. 🤔
Hhmmm tough call! Both awesome in their own rights with pros and cons to both. Might come down to whether you intend to use it more outside or inside. Also if you enjoy tinkering/modding the TRX4m has a huge aftermarket section. Both solid though and a good choice, no wrong answer 😎
Would the Cog Stall issue be fixed by swapping out the esc and programming more power to the rear motor?Lets say with the Hobby wing 880? Or just putting in something a little stronger on the rear? Love this series of videos and this rig! My brother in law got me into crawling and all things RC and I'm loving it! Keep up the great work
You can go about tackling the cog stall several ways………honestly upgrading the esc to safety handle running 3s lipo power overcomes the issue 98% and is the easiest approach
@@SonoranScaleStudios awesome, and thank you! I've got the HW 880 sitting at on my bench with the program card. Just waiting to get my Dumbo X6 and I hope I'll be ready to roll soon! Cheers man and keep up the great work.
Could changing the over/under steer limit cog stall?
I it off the topic but I know you have the Ecto & mentioned the rear suspension links that are plastic & the replacements are 100$. I’m thinking upon further review that the Reefs aluminum links will work with a little modification. It says on there site for Element & the Ecto or Gatekeeper are the only 2 that have those links. I have the Reefs links currently on a different RC & measured them & the Reefs are about 3 in. & the originals on the Ecto appear to be just under 3 in. But after looking at them I think they may work & for 45$ plus 15 % off it’s a much smaller commitment. I don’t want to but I may take off the Reefs links & see if I can get it to work then bye another set.
Oh yes if they will work on the gatekeeper the Ecto will take them. Let me look them up!
My danchee is acting up. The right rear wheel doesnt work but all others do.. What could it be? I replaced the drive cup thinking it was bad but was wrong, any help would be appreciated
Do you believe that power is reaching the rear motor? My guess would be rear diff, pull the motor housing apart and take a look. If the gears are toast I would source a metal replacement since you’ve already got it apart. Otherwise possible esc failure to rear motor would be my next guess. Lmk what you find I’m curious. Best wishes fixing it up.
More Danchee content!
It does still seem to be very popular on the channel……maybe some new upgrades are in order…..
I ordered myself a Ridgerock, but it was on back order, so I kept shopping, and found a deal on the Axial SCX24. I found out the Ridgerock shipped shortly after I ordered the Axial. Told my wife we could either return the Ridgerock, or give it to my son in law. She decided we should keep it so I can take my daughter out rock crawling, so I basically get to build both of them. WINNING!!
I broke my axle already on mine I got it on Christmas you know where I could get a replacement axle
I would contact Redcat directly. Depending on circumstances they will either have a replacement available or they will consider whether it falls under a warranty.
What monster truck tires are on it in this video?
They are quite old, I think off a Helion Invictus
@@SonoranScaleStudios thanks for answering.
Did you use spacers? What is the total height of those tires. I found everything on ebay NOS. Love the look. Thanks
What wheels and tires did you put on? My homie has this rig and those wheel/tire set up look good.
Unfortunately they are discontinued but really any 2.2 Monster Truck tire will get you this look. I agree, looks good 👍
