Fantastic review! I just stumbled onto this. I am going to watch all of your reviews now. Such lovely history and attention to detail. You are awesome, sir!
Recently I've been to Nice, France and got myself a few French regional knives. Got one Corsican, but not as good as this one. Same shape and size, wooden scales, moors head, and at least it says La Corse on it. Not very expensive and of cause made on mainland France, not on the island itself. Happy to see history and description of this knife, now I know I have correct Corsican-type knife!. Thank you Stefan and I hope to share my collection pictures with you one day.
He did it again! A perfect video review. And even, when the knife isn't my cup of tea, I must admit, that it is a piece of art, with a perfect fit and finish. Stefan, ich stelle mir immer vor, was im Anschluss an die Aufnahmen geschehen muss - eine Schlemmerei sondergleichen! Deine Videos machen immer Appetit, auf gutes Essen und einen edlen Tropfen! ;-) LG Claus
Perfect review once again. Without a doubt, you are my favorite reviewer. Beautiful introductions, the photography is second-to-none, great musical accompaniment, and your reviews are completely thorough. It is so nice to see someone reviewing knives that are not part of the typical reviews (Spyderco, Benchmade, Cold Steel). I so love seeing some of the great work coming out of the European Knife-makers. I only wish I could afford them to add to my collection. It is also refreshing to see knives shown in food prep, if only we could convince many of our Governments of such things; that knives have so many more uses other than stabbing people.
Stefan - it's always a treat to see a new video from my dear friend across the Atlantic. I always learn about culture, knives, food, and elegance every time I watch one of your videos. Keep up the great work old friend ;)
The Jimbo Channel Thank you, my friend! Every time I watch one of your videos I wonder why my memories of the 80s are so much different from yours. ;-)
The Jimbo Channel We also had arcade machines, video game consoles and the music of the 80s but none of them ever appealed to me. It must be the age difference. ;-)
Well then ! Excellent presentation, i truly enjoyed it, and have order a few gifts to include this knife. i had been looking for something very special and masculine for my son. Perfect! Thank you ever so much
Stefan, you are one of my favorite knife channels even though I tend to collect more American style knives. Your knowledge and presentation, and obvious passion for knives and the history surrounding them is admirable and very enjoyable. Please keep making videos.
The insight, history, and care that you put into your videos always impress me! (Although, I would venture to call them mini films or documentaries, instead of videos!) It is always a nice surprise when a new one is released. - Stay sharp! :D
As always a stunning review of a work of art.... what little I have to spend is now directed toward knives you review.... I snobbishly now find many “standard” knives boring.... But what do I know?
Another excellent video Stefan - your stage sets are getting more elaborate with each video :-) I think Le Rondinara has a great mix of robustness and refinement.
Stefan, I always enjoy watching your videos, your in depth commentary never fails to fascinate me. For a while now I have been a collector of modern style knives from companies such as Spyderco, Boker and Kershaw. But recently I have become interested in collecting more traditional style knives as I love the history and craftsmanship they display. Unfortunately I have no idea about how to obtain traditional style knives! Several websites I visit have small catalogs of traditional style knives such as fontinelle pataud, maserin and case knives but I was wondering if there is any online retailers which stock a wide selection of traditional knives?
***** It all depends on the brand. You won't likely find an online retailer that offers traditional American pocket knives as well as traditional Italian or French knives. Many of the French and Italian knives on my channel you will only find in a handful of European online stores. GEC knives, on the other hand, are only available in the US.
The Rondinara is beautiful Stefan! Great review and thank you! I would love to see a review of the Vendetta Corsa if you can please make one in the future!
Say, Heah Stefan, That knife is a beautuful looking knife. I'm not too much into folders. Although I do have a few. It surprised me how similar my Cold Steel Vintage Talwar, the frame is Titanium with Linen Micarta Scales. the handle shape is similar to your knife, with the exception the pommel is a Stainless Steel Ball that can be used as a crushing tool. The blade is a Persian Simitar a real "Sword in the pocket made with the San Mai 3 laminated steel, It too is a piece of art, Oh, I also have the Black Sable which is totally a Tactical Beauty too, made the same way as my Talwar, I really started to enjoy your educational videos, Thank You, , ,
I wonder if they have fine knives like this, in a mini size? My Buck folder, is about 2.5 inches long, so light I actually carry it with me, all the time.
thanks for explaining the Moors head. I bought a cheap version of this style of knife in a French market -- manufactured by 'Pradel Excellence'. It featured a metal Moors head welded to the top of the spine, on the locking mechanism. Although only a cheap knife, €17, I really liked the design.
Peace
I love the historical background, you do such a great job with that, but of course the review of the knife is excellent, too. May I add that the The Moors heads are taken to represent the defeated Moors, first used in the seals of Aragonese kings and later transferred to the Kingdom of Sardinia. Pls correct if I am mistaken. Thx.
l8tbraker Thank you! Yes, as I mentioned in the video, the moor's head symbol comes with a long and rich history. I wanted to keep the video concise that's why I didn't elaborate on this topic in more detail.
mr. Stefan, perhaps you can help me. I bought a Slipjoint Pocket Knife at a friends Pawn Shop, I didn't pay much for it because nobody knew any info on it. It's a Wilkinson Sword INOX 3blade Canoe Pattern made in Sheffield, England. Comparing the workmanship of the knife to my Case Knives, it's equal. I looked all over the place for information and I found none. It sort of resembles my Camillus Silver Sword #836 but without the wood inlays, but the scales are made out of some good quality material, but I'm not sure what it is. If you could help I would really appriciate it, again, Thank You in advance, , ,
Stefan, Yet another Brilliant review, Very well presented , and atmospheric, Video Quality is superb as is our Storytelling , Have you ever considered Producing a movie? I think you would do it extremely well Sir Thankyou for yet another excellent Peice of work Tony From Western Australia
Their is only one way to start ... At the beginning For example in Australia we have a short film Festival called Tropicana Maybe that is a good way to go do a few short films some of our People have gone on to be Hollywood Directors

Is a pleasure to watch your videos.

This is true work of art - both the video and the knife. An inspiration to all our senses of good taste and aesthetics!

I think I was at the exact right age for those things to appeal to me, brother. Right place right time for sure.
As always Stefan an excellent and informative insight into a little known knife.
I look forward to all your new videos.
Keep up the great work.

Ein Kunstwerk.
Das gilt für das Messer, ebenso jedoch für das Video!
Chapeau!

Miss your channel man
Thank you for another informative and interesting review. I really admire the knives of Fontenille Pataud especially the minimalist Le Thiers designs.
just saw the music credits...thanks again!
Le Rondinara could almost change my mind about heavy folders. So it was originally used be farmers? It seems like a very robust cheese slicer.
Thanks for another great video.
Another excellent video Stefan - your stage sets are getting more elaborate with each video :-) I think Le Rondinara has a great mix of robustness and refinement.
nicestknives Thanks for stopping by, Jim! Next I will need a large Hollywood set and a professional stunt crew.
A beautiful knife, & as always: an excellent review!😊

Always look forward to your posts Stefan!!
Beautifully presented as always, Stefan! Now, I just need to go to the grocers for some cheese, bread, and wine...
love your vids
Can you make a video about the douk douk? Love your vids!
Beautiful !!
This is easily my favorite knife that you have reviewed. What's the best way for someone to acquire one in the United States?

What was the true traditional Corsican knife called that you referenced after debunking the Vendetta Corse?
it's called the Amicu Corse.
@@StefanSchmalhaus Thanks! I am growing my knowledge base regarding traditional regional knives.
This week on Knife-terpiece theater with your host, Stefan. :)
+Retro Game Lounge Good one! I feel the same way when i watch Stefan"s reviews
Wie immer interessant und fesch lieber Stefan! ...die Messer ;) LG Sepp

TheAidansdaddy17 Andrew (The Edge Observer) features a different style of knife reviews. I appreciate his excellent video work.
I do also! I was being sarcastic. He's a buddy of mine. Your vids are best for the style you present. As well as his for his visual style and talent.
