Metal Detecting and I Found a 1650's Trash Pit

I found an early cut silver coin while metal detecting the fields then walked into the woods and found a 1650's trash pit.

OH YEAH, buddy that cut coin was sweet :) Yes relic hunting this time of year is tough I worry about the deer hunters as well. Very selective on where I go. Nice surprise finding a pit - got to love those pits with the iron and oyster shell in them :) Got some goodies out of there too. I would also check around got to be a few more pits there if that one is there :) Some early finds ! Best of luck next time out there. Thanks for sharing ATB

Gigmaster thanks Steve. For the northern neck a 1650s pit is as early as it gets and I think this was is going to be bigger than I originally thought
