    When you started to drink rakija sip by sip, all of the Balkan viewers were "finally someone who knows that rakija is not a shot kind of drink"... and then you listened to your husband and... we laugh. Ice is there just to keep the rakija cold. Ajvar and kajmak are pronaunced Ayvar and Kaymak. Great video by the way. My all-time favorite dishes.
    Greetings from Belgrade

    Traditional Ajvar is without eggplant and without tomatos.
    The special Ajvar paprika are rostet on a plate (Smederevac home stove for cooking and heating in winter times) the paprila outside must be carbonated (the outside shield must be black)
    Then you put the paprikas in cold water and you remove the black burned shield.
    The paprikas are then shredded true a balkan hand shred mashine.
    The shredded paprikas are put in a big pan and back on the stove, for more cooking.
    Seasonings are added and olive or sunflower oil.
    Cook the mixture well so all the water are gone.

    Serbia was not under the Turks for 500 years.
    Coffee: the grounds are too light to even resemble the coffee that is drunk in Serbia.
    Ćevapi are overcooked and obviously too dry.What you consider juicy is far from what it should be.
    It is not a traditional bread. Not even close.
    Ćevap is not a sausage.
    The combination of cream cheese and mozzarella does not exist in Serbia. Mozzarella is an Italian cheese.
    The shape of the ćevap says that whoever made it does not know what a real ćevap is.
    What do I want from Karađorđe steak? I want kajmak inside and not some kind of processed cheese.
    Karađorđeva's without kajmak is not Krarađorđeva's.
    The waiter has no idea how rakija is even drunk. What he told you is pure idiocy. You can drink water with brandy. But rakija is never mixed with water in the same glass. NEVER!
    Trust me. I am a Serb from Serbia. Currently in my yard there are several barrels (more than 10 - each 100 liters) with plums and pears waiting to become rakija.
    What he told you is very very very far from traditional.
    So much liquid in a serving of sarma - why? The meat is probably garbage. This is not the way sarma is served in Serbia. By the way - too much rice.
    Mashed potatoes in combination with sarma is not that common in Serbia, It's not that this combination doesn't exist, but this is very unusual for Serbian cuisine.
    Dessert. Yes, this exists in Serbian pastry shops, in the same way as pistachio ice cream. But this is not a traditional Serbian dish.
    What you have tried is traditional Serbian cuisine in the same way that Chicago pizza is traditional Italian cuisine.
    If you are interested in traditional Serbian cuisine, I can give you several recipes. But the big question is whether you can find the right ingredients in the USA. Traditional Serbian cuisine is based mostly on fresh and unprocessed ingredients.

    • @BorisTeodosijevic
      @BorisTeodosijevic 2 года назад +8

      @@alfonsoandjessica The man is a bit harsh, but completely right in everything he said. We do have to understand that it is but impossible to find real and fresh ingredients in the US that come in all those dishes.
      I can see that there is a procentige of soy in ćevapi meat, that is big no no in Serbia. Kajmak is not realy kajmak, but some local chese. When you try real kajmak, oh, you will know, trust me! 🙂 And the bread for ćevapi is literary nothing similar to the real fluffiness of the real somun (ćevapi bread). Although I just saw in some other video from this restaurant that they did a god somun. Hm, interesting.
      Please do come to Serbia, and you will be literarry blown away bay the real taste of real serbian food, when you even like those copy ones soo much. 😀

      @urosmarjanovic663 Год назад

      @@BorisTeodosijevic Good comment, especially about harshness and truthfulness of a previous comment. :D
      At first I thought they actually were in Serbia (and I looked at comments during intro), but this is more like an Ex-Yugo style restaurant.
      Because ajvar is rarely served with ćevapi here in Serbia, but it is in Croatia and in some parts of Bosnia, also potato mash with sarma is not that usual in Serbia (it might be in restaurants, but not at home) but is a staple in Croatia.
      Anyhoo, nice video.

      @@alfonsoandjessica And the most important - this is NOT a street kind of food, this is called cuisine. There isnt any place on the street selling karadjordjeva and sarma, even cevapi arent selling this way.
