I would think the 24 logo would be the only other one that is even close to those two. The next tier would be cars like 48 and 18. Definitely would watch that video!
28 made famous late 80s until his death in 1993. Many other drivers before Davey Allison also made 28 famous. I had the pleasure of meeting Davey and his father, which are some of my favorite memories. I remember them both as gracious and kind to the people around them.
My top 10 number decal logos would be in no order in particular 3 Dale SR, 21 wood brothers, 43 Petty , 24 Gordon, 48 Johnson, 8 Dale Jr, 92 Hudson hornet, 18 Kyle Busch M and M, 14 of Stewart 2011, and last the 5 of Larson and more important Ricky Hendrick. Several more I like but these 10 are my favorites when looking back.
Meh, I don't get it. It's not really about the driver, it's about JR Motorsports bringing it back. And Sammy Smith is a good driver, who knows what he'll accomplish in that car.
I like jrm’s font both before and after they got the trademark back I hope they get the 1 font back for kvapil and we need I said need Mikey’s 15 let rick ware keep 51 but let’s get that classic 15 font back as well
I like how we can talk about classic Number fonts and not mention the CLASSIC that is the Wood Brothers No. 21 font. My Top 5 Most Iconic NASCAR fonts: 1. The Richard Petty No. 43 font 2. The Dale Earnhardt No. 3 font 3. The Wood Brothers No. 21 font 4. Dale Jr.'s No. 8 font 5. Jeff Gordon's No. 24 font
suggestion for the iconic numbers idea: Which driver is most tied to the number? Terry Labonte vs Kyle Larson in the 5, Bill vs Chase in the 9, Edwards v Truex Jr in the 19, etc
Oh man there are so many NASCAR Number logos that are iconic not just the Petty 43, Earnhardt 3, Gordon 24, but you have to add the Yates 28, the Blocky Skoal Bandit 33, Alan's 7, any and all of Roush's numbers (knowing you Eric) Gibbs 18 and 20, Wood Brothers 21, hell even Junior Johnon's number 11
just so you know eric, i would love a number/number font tier list would be amazing. i love the numbers that are italicized towards its left like Sammy Smith’s 8 car we had for the last few seasons.
Maybe the way Jr gets into Cup is through RCR. If they became co-owners, that's an immediate sponsor draw and top driver landing spot. They could go to a 3 car team too.
Side note, my high school history teacher Jack eskridge is the one that came up with the Dallas cowboys star. He was an equipment manager for the team.
My childhood friend's dad worked for Aristocrat Trailers as a designer, and is the one that came up with their iconic badging on the rear of the trailer that read, "You're following an Aristocrat"
Spire would have to fire a driver, and it would be a driver they already heavily invested in, for an over the hill driver that currently struggling and has always been a PR nightmare.
@@the_keen_edge I guess there's always a chance with Justin Haley, since he's only signed through '25 that if he isn't working out, to cut him loose, and sign Kyle for big money, but they really made it sound like they wanted to build towards the future with Haley.
As a Jeff Gordon fan with a lot of #24 around his room, I can definitely say that the #24 is very iconic for Jeff Gordon and probably the icon I most associate with him.
Yeah I love the #21. But another interesting segment - maybe a two-parter (to keep us coming back for more) would be "What DO NASCAR drivers do in the off-season???"
LETS GO!!!!!!!!!!! THE DEI 8 IS BACK IN NASCAR BABY!!!!!!!!! BEST DAY EVER!! hope they do a throwback to the bud 8 at Darlington next season, if so best throwback ever (ur content is amazing Eric, keep it up bro)
The iconic numbers video is a good idea to consider. To me you can have say 24, 48, from Hendrick 7, with Alan Kulwicki 11 from Junior Johnson and Gibbs, 3, Chidress 43 Petty, 8, DEI 21, Wood Bros 2 Penske, 5, Hendrick 9, Melling Everham and Hendrick and 22 with Penske plus the 20 and 18 from Gibbs along with Yates 28 and 88 and Roush 6, 17, 16, and 99 would be up for grabs. Ultimately it's your call but if you do it good luck.
I think that the straight up and down #21 on the Wood's car is very iconic, as well. I miss seeing the #4 that Morgan Mcclure ran on the Kodak car and the #33 that was on the Bandit.
I feel that RCR being in Welcome, North Carolina is a massive disadvantage for them. If I remember correctly, Welcome is so far out of the way of the hub of the Charlotte area that you know it gets hard for top talent to even want to make the drive out there. For instance, nobody would want to work in Tucson and live in Phoenix because it’s about a hour and 45 minute drive. It’s hard to work and commute that far every day. That’s about the same distance between RCR and Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
Billy Carden was the first driver to field the No. 8 in a Cup Series race in 1949 -- the circuit's first season. He started third and drove his No. 8 Ford to a 15th-place finish on the old Daytona Beach-Road Course. He made 20 total starts using the car number from 1949-55 and gave the No. 8 its first pole -- at Charlotte in 1951. 3 of 25
Iconic numbers off the top of my head: Richard's 43, Dale's 3, Jr's 8, Junior Johnson's 11, Davey Allison's 28, DiGard/Dale Jarrett/Jr's 88, Bill Elliott's 9, Alan Kulwicki's 7, HMS 5, 24, and 48, RFK 6. If Eric does decide to do this video, I would suggest throwing in a mention of JD McDuffie's 70 as well.
He was running alot better towards the end of the year last year! I believe he will get the iconic #8 back to victory lane next season! I believe he will win multiple races in that car…
I wouldn't be shocked to see Kyle Busch end up in the 99 at track house when Daniel Suarez falls apart in 25 and they don't pick up his contract for 26. Kyle busch, SVG and Ross Chastain as teammates could be a dangerous trio if everything is running top notch.
Looking forward to the number font video! If it was up to me… S Tier: Petty 43, RCR 3 A Tier: JR 8, Hendrick 24 and 48, Wood Brothers 21 B Tier: Penske 2, Hendrick 5 and 88, JGR 18, Junior Johnson 11 C Tier: Evernham 9, Penske 12 and 22, JGR 11 and 20, Chip Ganassi 40
I like your idea of a video about iconic numbers. I think the 3,43,8, and 21 are in the same category. Others worth a thought are Yates #28 specifically Davey Allison years. Bobby Allison's#12. Mark Martin #6. Ricky Rudd #10. Rusty's miller genuine draft #2. Harry Gang's #33 skoal. Bill Elliott's #9. Morgan-McClure #4. Even that dewalt#17 could be discussed. Of course the 24,48 & 18. There are a lot more too.
I think for a couple of those races in the third car at RCR.. they should bring in a veteran driver ... say a recently retired Martin Truex Jr. Somebody who knows what a good car is supposed to feel like, and react. They should use that third car as a testing car with veteran drivers for some of the races
The Martin/Valvoline 6 with the tapered-gradient brushstroke comes to mind pretty quickly as iconic. The number 1 is going to be a tough number to pick with the 2000’s Earnhardt italicized versions alongside the strike through Chastain number. The italicized Penske numbers containing “2” are at least entry level iconic when paired with scallops behind them.
RCR running a 3rd team to resign KB and then eventually move Austin Hill and Jessie Love to Cup and have a trio of KB, Hill, and Love. Sending Dillon to Xfinity to dominate
If you win the Championship, next season, you carry the No 8 for the season, or 2- JUst for Opening Event, with a deal with Bud, and the whole chabang, No 8 car with Bud Red colors, and scheme, and Sponsorship for that race
As a Kyle Busch fan, the best hope I have is Hendrick wants to give Rowdy another shot at his organization in the 48. It would be quite the reunion, he would stay in the Chevy camp. Even if one would argue that the 48 is the lesser of the Hendrick lineup, it is still arguably better than RCR. Kyle would still have an 8 in his number. Ally seems to be loyal to Hendrick, not Bowman, so sponsorship should be solid. I also believe Bowman is on a contract year in 2025...so yeah. Here's hoping Kyle Busch goes back to Hendrick for his last few years and gets close to 75 wins and a 3rd or more championship!

Wood Brothers #21 is iconic
The wood brothers 21 can not be left out in the iconic numbers
I see no one saying the number 40 sterling marlin. That's iconic. 88 Dale Jarrett. 2 rusty Wallace. So many to choose from really.
@@Harley-ze8ecThe 40 probably not. 6 for Mark Martin maybe. 24 of course.

Those were the exact same numbers I thought, putting the 8 maybe around the 18.
What about the legendary 95 driven by Lightning McQueen
TS 20, DJ 88, RW 2 and Elliot Sadler 38 are ones I think of.
The 5 with all the storied history with it bodine and the Levi garret days labonte and the Kelloggs larson these days the 5 has to be near the top
It does not make sense to me Kyle Busch a two-time champion going winless ! There's something wrong with that picture to me !
The Roush No.16 font Greg Biffle is Iconic as well
Which was last seen in 2018 when Ryan Reed drove for the 16 in the Xfinity Series.

@bighand1530 it would be hard to do much worse. it it weren't for bad luck, they'd have no luck.
