I would also like to add that Mariam either looks like a 13 year, but is seventeen years old, or she is 13 years old, but skipped four grades. This is all based on the facts that she is in high school, presumably the 11th grade (the usual grade for a seventeen year old) as we saw her in the same class as Layla, whom in that moment was called an 11th grader. In the case that she is a prodigy, her parents have very unrealistic standards, when Marium is probably doing better in school than her parents were at her age.

What I liked most about this story is that the grandmother realized the error of her ways and made to make amends immediately. It’s what I like seeing in books, movies and in real life. For someone to realize their mistakes and are willing to change and atone for their actions.

For Mariam and Layla the best color to paint with is with love, she’s like a big sister that she never had. Misunderstandings happen to those who shouldnt judge a book by its cover, it was cruel of her grandmother to burn all the art that she worked hard on but then it was nice of seeing her to apologize of what she done.
