A friend VO1DZA helped me repair my R71A. It was powering up OK but had no receive. He replaced all the capacitors on the PLL board ...including the 4 plastic trimmers that are in the soldered metal box on the PLL board. What a hell of a job but it worked and brought the RX back to life. Today I was able to purchase an RC11 Remote Control unit locally. The companion board is not in the radio so now hunt is on for that. 73 VO1HP
I just repaired my r71 last night! No receive except on fm mode. Started seeking loose solder joints, found that the "dp-2" module which is apparently the -10v dc power supply, Took that little tin can apart and resoldered the entire job and she has been chooching along for 10 hours now singing BEAUTIFULLY!! I watched your video first hoping I had such an easy fix aswell but obviously my issue was a little deeper. Im going to try to locate a replacement supply for mine, and when I do I plan on posting a video of that repair!
Nice Vid! I have an R71A that I haven't used in about a year. I turned it on last week and it seemed dead but I did hear a faint "ping" from the speaker when I applied power. You have motivated me to open it up and troubleshoot. Would you suggest trying the DC power first? I'm no electronics whiz but I assume the first place to look if DC power works is at the AC power supply.
Hello, good morning my friend! I have a radio identical to Mr., but in USB it has a fine noise as if it had a cricket in the sound. could or would you have any tips on this defect? Thank you for your help, good morning!

Thanks for this -- would be good to see some video showing the location of the WILLCO board...

Hi, how much would the radio be worth in good condition? And is there anything in particular to look out for when buying one? Thanks
anywhere between $350-500 depending on condition.
Still using my R71A here, really should grab a Wilco, Nardo or Piexx board, some day the original ram memory battery will die .
