hi Chris , the other day you were all over the news here in Thailand , with your video from the salon you visited and give her new signs and 3000 thb ... they really liked your kindness
There are many types of durians. One that you tried = Kan-Yao (I heard from the background) which is expensive one ---- the texture woukd be creamy and the smell is not so strong. The more common ones are Mon-Thong (firmer texture with slightly stronger smell) and Cha-nee (quite mushy with strong smell, super sweet but would be bitter if it's too ripe) The high prices are based on supply-Demand: only limited area could produce "good" durian & we export a lot to China as well.
Durian used to be inexpensive but Chinese people have imported them to China therefore more demanding to send them to China. Also the middleman cost fruit more $$
Hey @Travelwithchris, love your videos bro. Been watching ever since Peru. Quick question, I'm headed to Bangkok/Pattaya later this year. Which was more fun? Bangkok or Pattaya?
Man people judged durians by the smell and gag without tasting it and be missing out on the most expensive fruit. It's literally at least $14lbs in CA depending on the seasons. And when you blend it with ice, milk, and a little condensed milk it's a bomb ass smoothies. I'm glad you tried it before judging. It's the king of fruits in Thailand. But also for Cambodia but not sure if they labeled it as king of fruits like Thailand. It takes times and efforts to grow successful quality fruits. My aunts and uncles recently grew before covid, and said that next year or 2024 will be even better quality of the fruits.
I think the guy who sold the durian to you didnt understand your questions well. He told you that the durian came from Chantaburi and Rayong and those provinces are in the East (past Pattaya further to the East), not the South (he nodded when you asked was it from th South)😊 After trying durian, you should eat mangosteen afterward. It tastes great and is like yin yang to durian, cooling down the heat you body created after eating durian 👍🏻
@@theone8165 I dont know what the price should be as I never bought any durian myself (durian is my mom’s favourite so she bought a good one and I ate with her) but yes 60 baht might be a bit expensive for just one piece. Chinatown Bangkok is not the cheapest place for street foods and good durian varieties (Mon Thong or Karn Yao) are not cheap.
Tuktuk is more expensive than metre-taxi about x3 ... your durian came from Eastern of Thailand, Rayong and Jantaburi provinces. the durian you bought is same price as Thai people.
"Get out of the taxi right away" when they refuse/excuse to use taxi meter. The law requires them to use it but that is the way they try to scam/overcharge tourist. I am Thai and I want Thailand to be fair to the tourists.
Don't get scammed by tuk-tuks! Always take metered taxi!!! I liked the raw video! Will you also be trying some Thai "Extreme" bug food :) like scorpions and fried cockroaches? :))))
I would describe the Durian taste like sweet custard. Some has a little bitterness to it. In Malaysia from month May til August is the durian season, for Thailand, mid April til September. Why are they expensive?, because they can't be manualy harvested, the king of fruit has to fall to the ground by itself. My hubby as a greek aussie he likes it to be kept cold or frozen, not room temperature. I hardly eat durian, not a big fan😁.
Now you are back in BKK you should visit the Wat Traimit or temple of the solid gold Buddha, there is a great museum there where you can learn the history of Chinatown and the discovery of the solid gold Buddha.
Siam in the past was a city where various people in Asia lived together and then change the name Thailand. Thai means independent and Everyone here speaks Thai.
Rayong and Chantaburi are the east of Thailand sir. Durian so expensive because it's popular and need to wait the season. and the most of durian are export to china.
The one you buy is expensive because it's a finished product. Find a shop that sells fruit durians. The price per kilogram will be cheaper. But you have to unpack the durian yourself.
I'd probably avoid the "fresh" seafood vendors. You know they aren't wasting food that wasn't sold that day. Probably becomes the Friday special after a few days.
Si tienes videos en español pero ya lo vimos ya son videos viejos .haslo en los dos idiomas tu también tienes personas q t ven en argentina chile Uruguay. Colombia Venezuela y todos hablan español y lo haces en inglés para el público gringo
Why durian so expensive? there are many reasons, first there are a tropical fruits those plant mostly in South East Asia(Eventhough they tried to plant in the South of Chinese and South America but they still not produced a lot). The second reason they will produced fruits after 5 years of planting(or longer and the first few years of fruiting they still fruit very few) and fruit only 1 time a year, you may see durians all years those they try to produce out of the normal season for higher price but for each plant they still fruit only 1 time a year. The third reason is their thorn cover are so heavy there may 50-60% of the whole fruits and they have professional guys to take the cover off that's why finished durians are higher prices a lot more than whole durians.
Durian in Thailand that is popular to eat comes from Rayong and Chanthaburi provinces. which is in the eastern part of Thailand Same route to Pattaya, both provinces are far from Bangkok about 200 km
Beautiful share my friend. Fantastic video and amazing place. Have a wonderful day to you!
Thanks so much! Have a great day as well!

Thank you so much bro
What part of Thailand are you from?
In the Chinatown there is a famous noodle store which is Open 24/7
If you put that Durian on a end of a stick it would be like a medieval mace 😂 bro for the first time trying it looked like you vibe with it.
Ahahah facts bro! Deadly! Never seen a fruit like it before!
Hey I just found your channel. I booked a trip to Bangkok in September. Is it going to be 103 and 97% humidity then as well? 😳🥵🤨
Rayong and Chantaburi are the east of Thailand sir. Durian so expensive because it's popular and need to wait the season. and the most of durian are export to china.
Hey mate! In my opinion durian is the best with sticky rice and coconut milk just in the same bite. (Old thai man told me and approved.) :D
Hey thanks a lot bro! I'll have to give that one a go forsure! Sounds amazing!
I like Muay Thai.
Yes!!? Same!!!

Nice video
Thank you!
It’s expensive maybe durian is seasoning fruit and the process to open is harder than normal fruit
Thanks for watching!
The Durian smell strong but it is King of the fruit.
It is delicious!
is durian like jackfruit ?
Not the same, I think so 😂
Great video bro..very real!
Nice to see it at night...maybe next vid!
I'd probably avoid the "fresh" seafood vendors. You know they aren't wasting food that wasn't sold that day. Probably becomes the Friday special after a few days.
🤣🤣🤣 yeah for sure bro! Definitely not the best idea!
Durian comes from Rayong/Chantaburi provine(East of thailand).
Thanks so much
Make sure you go to a ping pong show lol
Ahha went to one 5 years ago! I've heard all of them are shut down these days!
Creamy like a banana?
Rayong / Chantaburi he said. It's in the South East of Thailand - not in the North.

Surprised every citizen wearing a mask. Are they mandated by their government or just fearful? Glad you didn't wear one
Man they were all wearing them here even before the pandemic! But yes the masks is still a thing unfortunately 😨😱
😊😄👍
Thanks for watching!
Since when is 300 baht $15??
Since when can't people make mistakes? Asking for a friend
You understand how fare for take a Tuk Tuk.
Yes!!
Durian is expensive @ this time as it’s early in the season. It will become cheaper in the next month or so as the fruit becomes more plentiful…
Wow that's good to know! I will definitely be trying more!
Heading to Chiang Mai this afternoon…
แซ่บหลายทูเรียน
Why does your accent change when talking to the Thai? lol
Durian is the devil!
Ahahah
Why are you talking that way with them?
Smoked duck is definitely not like beef jerky😂 it’s like baked turkey.
Thailand is a beautiful country But Thai people do not speak English very well ,This makes communication quite difficult #I don't like durian😂😂
you should go at night for foods
Yes!! I'll be going again soon and at night!
