My favorite Pat Metheny Group tune. The push of the beat by the bass and drums and then, the awesome finish, those four hammered beats leaving the reverberating sound from the last note. That's great music.
He's coming to Richmond, Va this 2023 . It will be my first time seeing him. Man, I wish I could have seen him back when it was Pat, Lyle, Paul, Steve, Pedro, and that lineup. But I'm sure the current lineup won't disappoint. 🙂🙂🙂
This incredible piece is not present in any of Pat's studio albums, there are live recordings only. Of all the versions I heard, the one on "Travel" is incontestably the greatest and, apart from that version, this is the best.
@fabekuso hilarious! I love that tune but was in hysterics when the shorts appeared!!! He makes up for fashion/privacy disaster with his playing mind.....V funny
What happened to his quads since then? And let's be honest: someone got to him after this tour and forced a bit of Just For Men on him. Anyway, nice version.
One of the things i love about this PMG formation is the slightly off tune and off rhythm blend of a sound/cadence impossible to imitate, it is such a personal -authoral work of art. The slight errors and amazing non-rhythm of Wertico make this a unique masterpiece.
Ah ah.... Nobody recognized that this is a musical plagiarism. I guess not even the author of the composition, who published the record few months before.
To which tune are you referring? Because I heard the Tony Rice Unit play a song live at the Strawberry Festival in '86 called Wyatts Original and it sounds amazingly close to this. I love both players and was taken aback by what I heard ...not knowing which was first or if anyone else out there heard the same thing?
@vinnybis1757 wow....thnx for confirming I'm not losing my mind. But I still can't believe it could be such a blatant rip off regardless of who wrote it first. Can u confirm that it was indeed Tony's tune first?
According to Pat's book he wrote the tune in 1980. If that is true why didn't Tony just introduce it as a cover? It's still a great version of a great tune?!
@@bradg4562 would help to read the credits of the composition within Tony Rice Record. Otherwise it could be some kind of older "traditional" with no copyrights. do you have a link to Pat´s book article? thanks
I still remember that magical night back in the day....felt transported by the amazing sounds...thanks for the memories
Ahhhhhhh Pat & Lyle. I play this at the beginning of every car trip.
one of the best musician in history
just shaking my head when he goes into the tune. that sound....so magical and beyond words.
Never have enough from Pat. Thanks for your music!!
I love this song. So full of hope.
+leon elias This is my favorite PM tune...the Travels album version though (too)
He was better with Lyle...and Wertico's playing is so exceptional.

This song is sooooooooo good. Somehow, he really touches the soul with this one.

Those legs! Eternal!! Amazing composition let alone the improvisations.
Bestial music transitions! The best for ever!!
Love Pat in those white shorts !!! Trademark.
What an energy in this song...
I just love Paul with his head movements. The tilts, the torsions and his eyes nearly closed. What a great drummer.
This tour (Chicago Theater) probably the most amazing played entire concert I ever saw in any genre.

That is correct.
That has to also be some of the most intense duo triangle playing I've ever seen.
This is, frankly , one of Pat Metheny’s best pieces. It captures and expresses the pure joy of being alive and moving in big sky country.
John Bruehl , Yes the one on the Travel Album is the one I really Love
Without Nana, it's not the same.
LOVE LOVE LOVE
Mesmerising

emozionante come sempre! Mi vengon le lacrime agli occhi.... :)

Wow drummer Paul Wertico is special.
Pat amazing as usual even without his blue and white striped shirt
I just realised he wasn't wearing it.
