1:25:27 I totally know what Garnt felt. This was me 15 years ago when I graduated college and I was in the transition period of graduation and finding a job. I didn't do anything except swam everyday and play video games. It was truly a magical moment in my life.

Going to bed with wet hair may not give you a cold, but it can worsen dandruff, which is technically caused by a fungus, and thrives in damp warm areas, like between your wet head and your pillow
I really hope so, but I very much doubt it because Chris left Japan around a week before his chessboxing match in LA on December 11th and since then he's in the UK for the Abroad in Japan 10 year anniversary event, Christmas and New Years. But this episode looks to me like it was filmed in December because Garnt said he's 15 hours into Trails in the Sky and 3 days ago he tweeted, that he finished that 40-50h game.
Listening this episode feels nostalgic in a way because I used to talk whatever I want to do when I become an adult with my friends when I was a teenager or younger than that. Now as an adult it feels surreal listening to them and restoring the hope of getting to do weird things or hobbies as I move forward in my life.
I needed to watch this early as the final episode of 2022, can't wait for another year with the boys and can't wait for the content to come in 2023! Happy New Years everyone!
I was just about to say, if sauna felt uncomfortable to Garnt it was probably too dry. From my experience aboard saunas are often just hot rooms, without the chance to throw the water onto the hot stones to get the steam and proper amount of moisture in the air, which is crucial in a proper sauna. Overall I have help but be sceptical that the saunas they've encountered have been proper ones. I've heard stories of Finns going into a hotel aboard and there being an actual legit kiuas there, exported from Finland... with a sign "do not throw water" :'D The worst sauna I've been in was actually in Japan, where it was probably like 60 degrees Celsius in a room, with no kiuas, and a flatscreen television on the wall behind a glass. Truly an experience :'D P.s Torilla tavataan? :)

For me, and probably a ton of other Ukrainians, this year was way worse than 2021. Also Russia intentionally made massive air strikes in an attempt to bar us from celebrating Christmas normally a week ago, and I can only assume that they are going to do the same for New Years Eve. Losing over 400 hours of my heavily online life, in just 2 months, due to blackouts was fucking miserable. And really pushed me to the brink of despair. Surprise surprise, but a shut in without electricity, and also as a concequence, any form of internet for much of the time, doesn't have much to live for.
Yeah, this new years celebration became something unforgettable for me, and not because of how fun it was. Because the thing you hear behind your windows, those are not fireworks explosions. But hey, could be worse.

The guys: "I can't imagine to take a week of! But we are lucky, that we could." Me a normal employee in Germany: "Chef! I will be gone for the whole month of April alright?" Chef: "yes, no promlem, have fum, make lots of photos!"
This is also true for most of western Europe (except probably UK), and then there is this German guy working in Hong Kong. He turned Asian, "mein gott, they took quite a lot of holidays back home." Me, a graduate from western socialist country, "we are not complaining about that right?" The German guy, back being European after being confronted by Asian that they have successfully brainwashed: "no, no... yeah, it's good to have holidays."
Well they might have a packed schedule but most things are probably only gonna take them a few hours. Not every day is gonna be 9-5 for them, a lot of the time they even go on trips somewhere to film a video or something which is obviously more fun than sitting in an office all day. Plus it all pays VERY well for them. Combine that with the fact that a RUclips career is somewhat limited, you better put in the hours now and be set for life.
Next year I plan on going to a few more fun locations with my Boyfriend, getting my shoeboxes filled for Operation Christmas Child, and getting into a few new series since I haven't been able to really step back and enjoy a new series in a while. So here's to 2023 gents, you guys have made this year amazing for me. 🎉
No figure special last year hurts my soul. I enjoy those so much. Nonetheless, I guess there are only so many figures that can be fit into the studio. Wishing you guys an amazing 2023!

Man, it feels weird albeit a good weird that I have been watching the boys since they started the podcast and now another year has passed by. I remember the cooking special dropping during the start of 22 like it was posted just a few weeks ago and god damn it, time just flew by.
On the topic of private saunas. Pretty much every home in Finland has its own sauna, barring the smallest apartments. A Danish guest was once amused by our summer place having more saunas than toilets (3 to 2).
There are times were the boys just get into that perfect trash taste pace of conversation (activities when young or old) it's nice to listen in on an involved conversation between good friends about something exciting or interesting. This podcast is special to me for the very specific vibe it has. TRASH TASTE 2022 WE MADE IT THRU
I relate so hard with Connor saying he went to many countries as a kid but doesn't remember them. My family went various places, but I definitely didn't appreciate them enough
Indoor bouldering/climbing is a great hobby in Tokyo. The community is great because people are open to talk with you and try to problem solve boulders together. It is also just generally fun making progress on the grades! I would recommend Noborock in Shibuya or Rocky climbing in Akebonobashi that have walls that are not littered with holds. B-pump in Akihabara is great too, but the difficulty level is higher (some Olympians go there). You should 100% give it a try! It have had a big impact for me since I moved to Japan. Just avoid evenings in the weekdays (Monday and Tuesday are usually fine though) as it gets pretty crowded :)
the way Garnt just starts singing super idol is gold. I wish everyone a happy new year and may you all find success in whatever you do. To the trash taste boys and all the staff involved in making each episode possible, I wish you all an extra special happy new year and congratulate you on a successful year of this incredible podcast and wish you an even better year next year.
50:00 the way a heat pump works is that it litterally shoves heat from inside the room to the outside (plus a little extra cause of inefficiency) so the more people use ACs the worse the heatwaves are going to get. Meaning more heatstroke for people who can't afford to stay indoors and more electricity used by everyone.
It messes me up knowing trash taste started in 2020, ive been watching them since i was in uni and it feels like just yesterday the boys started arguing over the best way to eat chicken 😂
ik I'll sound corny af but i honestly don't give a shit Joey, Garnt, Connor and everyone involved, thank you so much for creating this podcast. It's literally one of the only things that can make me relax. Nowadays, everyone is trying to seem cooler, more productive, more attractive, smarter, and sometimes force themselves to be "relatable". I don't know exactly why, but when I watch trash taste I don't really feel left out and alone. I don't feel like I'm boring, or that I should be like this or that or how much cooler I should be, even though I still really admire the videos you guys make individually and how amazing they are, I don't feel like I'm so useless and shit for not being as interesting. I feel like everything will be fine and life can be fun sometimes. I don't feel pressured to make something cool RIGHT NOW. I feel inspired actually. I watched all of you guys’ individually before the podcast, and when I first started watching anime, I remember watching Joey's videos religiously. lol. Good times. Than I remember watching that one gigguk video about waifus being real and since then, he became my favorite anituber. Then I watched an emirichu video and Connor was there, and I started watching him as well. You’re all so entertaining to watch individually and the podcast just introduced us viewers to more sides of your personalities, and idk if you are all naturally funny or what but this podcast is surely the best I've ever seen
Yes! same! i honestly think this podcast has inspired me, to better myself so much. and all the things they talk about, makes me wanna go out there and try more stuff.
1:28:30 I have the same issue. Pretty sure its something to do with ADHD as I also have it. Being pulled out of a state of hyper focus is one of the most annoying experiences ever. I would get so angry after having to stop a game to do the dishes.
Connor got me today when he said if i have money and time, i wanna do these random things and get good at them. I also have that dream, unfortunately i have neither. But it is cool to know someone out there who has the capability is doing what you wanted to do.
As an estonian who lives in finland, i hate the heat but i love it for some reason. Also realized when they say sauna they mean the one without steam which is rare here i think, most saunas i've been to are steamy boys but the sweat and severe heart palpitations are indeed god tier.
don't understand how some people don't like some of the episodes. no matter what I've always been excited every single week for the new episode and thoroughly enjoyed it every time. just so comforting after 2 and a half years ig. Happy new year!
Garnt describing the whole motivation to game with timing and stuff being on his terms is mostly likely an adhd thing. I’m the same way where if things aren’t in my control I have a schedule and things to do but if it’s on my terms where I say when to stop or till I’ve had enough. A lot of people with adhd are the same way with different things.
heard about you boys through a couple friends early last year and it's been such a pleasure to see such chill, but also high quality content come out. every time I put on TT I feel like I'm with my boys. y'all killed it last year, this year is gonna be even better. fuck yeah, cheers
I wholeheartedly agree that being cold is easier lol. You can always grab a blanket or jacket. There are only so many articles of clothing that can come off before it becomes indecent exposure.
last episode of the year already and it feels like it was just last month when the LA collabs were finally being slow-dripped out LOL the last half of 2022 kind of body slammed us on the way out i feel and i'm super ready for life to slow down for a bit--looking forward to listening to this episode while washing dishes tn!
I definitely agree with Garnt about people doubting you when you try to learn new things, when I was 16 and I started playing guitar I remember one of my closest friends telling me that I wouldn't keep playing and now 5 years later I'm still playing and have pretty much either played my guitar or worked on music every day since. I imagine that stigma only gets worse the older you get
1:53:33 Hey, I design helicopter mods for a living so I know this. Helicopter airframe and non-dynamic components (i.e. stuff that don't spin mostly) are not life limited. Meaning depending on condition, they can have theoretically infinite life. A lot of old Huey airframes are still flying. There are maintenance schedules where we detail inspect the airframe though. Dynamic components and the engines do have life limited parts due to high operating cycles and extreme operating conditions for certain components like turbine blades. Fixed Wing airframes are life limited because of pressurization cycles that they go through. This consumes the fatigue life of the airframe. For the altitudes that helicopters typically operate at, pressurization is not a concern. I might add, the controls of a helicopter is very different and the control inputs are co-dependent. A helicopter is a very sensitive system so it is considerably more difficult.
1:44:40 sadly it isnt bullshit. Kids just learn way faster than adults do because of their prefrontal cortex that is still flexible and capable of making new connections faster.
For anyone that heard them say the steam deck is 1k just to correct it’s £570 for the top model. Possibly in Canadian dollars it’s a grand but in most places e.g., Europe and the US it isn’t
Cannot believe it took me until the end of 2022 (nearly wrote 2023, thanks Joey :P) to discover you guys. I hope you have a brilliant last couple days of 2022! I always think this time of the year is a great way to really just let go of all the negativity of the past year and start over, as absolutely cliché as that sounds. Personally, next year, I'll be finally fulfilling my lifelong dream of moving to Japan for work. Wishing you and all other TT fans a Happy New Year :)
On the subject of going to bed with your hair wet, I would just like to say that I am someone with very long hair and if I let it air dry it gets in my way too much and tends to feel more straw-like for some reason. So on nights that I wash my hair I will specifically shower late so that I go to bed no more than half an hour after getting out of the shower. That way my hair is still wet when I go to bed and for some reason that just makes it more manageable once it's dry. And no, I do not constantly catch colds
1:29:00 Connor asking wonder why that is - I have a good idea as to why: adhd and hyperfixation. As someone who also has adhd like garnt, it is just SO HARD to pull ourselves away from something we want to be doing. If we do and start working on something else, like the work we actually really need to be doing, it becomes extremely hard to focus on doing that thing. Our minds just keep thinking about the hyperfixation (the video game) and can't shift gears properly essentially. I mean, we can, but sometimes it just takes a long time to "shift", or the work is done with half focus so we're unable to get as much done in the same amount of time since our brain is split in two almost. At least thats what it feels like to me. Or like Garnt says, we just dont start playing the game at all, starving ourselves of the entertainment until we have days at a time to sink Wahaha, maybe I should have kept watching because connor also points this out, "I wonder if its an adhd thing".
Wow...I thought having a hard time pulling my focus away from things was just a weird thing I did. Now I'm wondering if I should even get tested since I'm 30 now.
I'm from Belgium and I can't even have my driving license translated simply because they don't offer that service anymore for some weird reason... So I'll never be able to drive through the countryside :(
I've been thinking this for awhile, but you three have the magic recipe to make a successful top gear esque type show. You've already started it kind of with your bike race, do that more and I think you guys will not only have more fun than ever, see the world, but also explode in popularity.
The reason why most moms tell their kids not to sleep with wet hair is because your pillow will get wet while you are sleeping. And as the pillow gets drenched in water and can't dry for a period of time, it'll start to smell.
regarding that part about garnt playing trails, dying to a boss and having forgotten to save. assuming garnt plays the games in order, which is the only sensible thing to do, then hes playing Sky FC right now. while this game doesnt have autosave, dying in a battle doesnt reset you to the last save. it just prompts you if you want to load a save or redo the fight then and there. there is no reason to ever worry about saving the game other than when you close it. youre never at risk of loosing progress because you didnt save in that game
@@rewcalYT youd have to really try for something like that to happen. and even then, by default the game lowers the difficulty of a battle, every time you lose. so if you didnt opt out of that youll just have to retry a couple times until it sticks. and if you did opt out of it, then frankly, how do you even manage to get into a situation like that
Trails on PC has a page of 10 autosaves that save each time you go through a loading zone and like 1000 save slots, at least for the Sky games. As far as JRPG’s go, I’d say it gives you the some of the most options/accessibility.
My mind does this thing sometimes where I go all the way until April occasionally thinking, “Oh, yeah. It’s a new year.” It’s like right now I’m still in 2022, but with this sort of bittersweet feeling that the holidays are gone and everything is back to normal.
59:00 I don't personally believe in the zodiac, but I like the origins and meanings to the constellations and star names. In regards of Gemini, the Dioscuri (twin warriors named Kastor and Pollux) are freaking BADASS!
If more people told me about the name origins and more behind the stars I'd probably give more of a shit ironically about them lol That's cool facts and what not to know, to have the stories to tell others seems nice
The fact that I actually knew who they were already just goes to show that fate grand order doujins ARE the best way to learn about history and mythology.
The part talking about skills and the such is one that really resonates with me. I try to always pick up new hobbies to at the very least just be good enough at then. Just recently I started using safety razors instead of normal razors and it was a ton of fun (and saves me a lot of money in the long run). I really want to give making ceramics a go as well as leather working, I'm really into coffee, tea and cooking, I've learned just enough about wine, beer and other alcohol to always find really good stuff. Always try and push yourself to get better and try new things, no matter how small or large those things are!
As a person who doesn't celebrate New Years too much, I can't think of a more relaxing way to end the year than just chilling and listening to the bois
I feel exactly the same as garnt with hesitating to start playing a game if i don't have enough "time" to devote to it in a day and i also have ADHD, don't know if it's a specially ADHD thing but that's eerily similar to my sentiments
Same but not just in games, actually everything. Movies, books, anime etc., That's why its so easy for me to commit to podcasts coz they're random you can zone out for a while and still follow through on what's being discussed Theres no plots, no stakes, no immersion or gameplay narrative, just vibin
dunno if connor will read this but, motorcycles are fun. I used to drive a lot and ever since I got a bike, I would use it for transport 90% of the time over a car even though it's technically more tedious (like always having to carry a helmet, or having to wear armoured jacket). Maybe it's just me, but regular driving for me has become stale. Riding, on the other hand, is way more fun for me, not to mention I feel cooler than most other people on the road.
Seeing this in 2023 (and onwards) is kinda funny 1:01 currently i am of the mindset of "it is just another day. the difference is that you need to train yourself to write the correct date" but otherwise it means nothing 20:13 You use your phone's calendar? 56:24 The moment Connor turns out to actually believe into any myth, superstition, legend or whatever, it is probably gonna be something to remember 58:54 Joey gives a good point while connor tries to give the same point, but kinda does it in a way it makes you say "Connor just stop" 1:27:15 Connor points out the obvious 1:31:36 are you a single save file? or multi file?
Connor wants to learn how to operate every kind of vehicle. They need to have on Norm from Tokyo Lens. I think he could help Connor get started on those goals.
Cold baths are great, even without a sauna. Swimming in a cold mountain lake during summer, literally chilled by the snow runoff, then toweling off and finally getting warm from the sun. You feel so rejuvenated afterwards. The trick is to dip your entire body really quickly. After that it won't feel as cold anymore. Taking it slow is just prolonging the torture.
Connor - Sauna
Garnt - Steam Room
Joey - Onsen
Never have I seen the European/SoutheastAsian/Japanese three way split as naturally as this

The Finnish blood in me can't abide by this casual sauna slander. I demand satisfaction!
Do we have any finnish youtubers who could go to trash taste and vihta the shit out of these boys

Joey, Garnt, Connor and everyone involved, thank you so much for creating this podcast. You’re all so entertaining to watch individually and the podcast
just introduced us viewers to more sides of your personalities, and idk if you are all naturally funny or what but this podcast is surely the best I've ever seen
♥️same...and it wasnt corny, more wholesome actually
Yes! same! i honestly think this podcast has inspired me, to better myself so much. and all the things they talk about, makes me wanna go out there and try more stuff.

1:28:30 I have the same issue. Pretty sure its something to do with ADHD as I also have it. Being pulled out of a state of hyper focus is one of the most annoying experiences ever. I would get so angry after having to stop a game to do the dishes.
I died laughing when the ep started and Garnt goes 'super idol de xiao rong' and it was on point!
Connor got me today when he said if i have money and time, i wanna do these random things and get good at them. I also have that dream, unfortunately i have neither. But it is cool to know someone out there who has the capability is doing what you wanted to do.
Connor's "where did I go wrong" singing was actually good
As a finn, Garnt's sauna take wins my worst take of the year.
As an Asian, his take is valid
@@ExZ1te as a south east asian, agree
As someone who absolutely hates being hot, his take is completely valid.
As an estonian who lives in finland, i hate the heat but i love it for some reason. Also realized when they say sauna they mean the one without steam which is rare here i think, most saunas i've been to are steamy boys but the sweat and severe heart palpitations are indeed god tier.
I don't think people that live their whole life in heat and humidity would like it, here i know no person ever said they like sauna.
don't understand how some people don't like some of the episodes. no matter what I've always been excited every single week for the new episode and thoroughly enjoyed it every time. just so comforting after 2 and a half years ig. Happy new year!
IIRC it was mostly the parade of influencer type guests from the LA arc that set people off
to make connor feel even older, i was born the year Finding Nemo came out and i am now an adult
I was born the year after, also an adult
Thanks for a great year! you guys have earned a less hectic 2023, may all have an awesome 2023 and enjoy yourself guys!
I sincerely wish *ALL* TT fans (and the bois) a VERY happy New Years!
Happy new years to you too! :)
You too fellow Sigma TT cult member 🥂
This episode should be titled as "That was this Year?!"
Happy new Year everyone - may it be kind to us all💜
Garnt describing the whole motivation to game with timing and stuff being on his terms is mostly likely an adhd thing. I’m the same way where if things aren’t in my control I have a schedule and things to do but if it’s on my terms where I say when to stop or till I’ve had enough. A lot of people with adhd are the same way with different things.
2022 made me feel like an NPC so much. I just worked all year and felt like i didnt do anything. All my interactions were online with my friends
Sauna, to ice bath, to back sauna, is the big brain move
Damn, garnt song some Chinese songs with perfect pronunciations in the intro, wasn't prepared for it
Same lmao, although he did mention that he has lived in China before

heard about you boys through a couple friends early last year and it's been such a pleasure to see such chill, but also high quality content come out. every time I put on TT I feel like I'm with my boys. y'all killed it last year, this year is gonna be even better. fuck yeah, cheers

I really love Joey's word about "you can't teach an old dog new tricks is bullshit"
I’m glad to see Connor is back to wearing the same shirt again

Joey won't remember that.
I've already seen it 4 times but a 5th time does sound pretty good

Or like Garnt says, we just dont start playing the game at all, starving ourselves of the entertainment until we have days at a time to sink
Wahaha, maybe I should have kept watching because connor also points this out, "I wonder if its an adhd thing".
damn,I went from "holy crap I'm not the only one having this weird mindset, haha" to "oh no...maybe I should get tested for ADHD" reall quick
That is why full context matters .Lol
Wow...I thought having a hard time pulling my focus away from things was just a weird thing I did. Now I'm wondering if I should even get tested since I'm 30 now.

I hope Chris will show up in the first TT episode of 2023, just to continue the tradition

You are if you soft lock yourself by running into a battle with a party of guys on 1hp and getting ambushed.
If more people told me about the name origins and more behind the stars I'd probably give more of a shit ironically about them lol

Happy New Year Guys.. Can't believe it's almost 3 years watching Trash Taste every week.
I feel exactly the same as garnt with hesitating to start playing a game if i don't have enough "time" to devote to it in a day and i also have ADHD, don't know if it's a specially ADHD thing but that's eerily similar to my sentiments

dunno if connor will read this but, motorcycles are fun.
Seeing this in 2023 (and onwards) is kinda funny
1:01 currently i am of the mindset of "it is just another day. the difference is that you need to train yourself to write the correct date" but otherwise it means nothing 20:13 You use your phone's calendar?
56:24 The moment Connor turns out to actually believe into any myth, superstition, legend or whatever, it is probably gonna be something to remember 58:54 Joey gives a good point while connor tries to give the same point, but kinda does it in a way it makes you say "Connor just stop"
