'Deep Sea Odyssey' is an original theme I wrote for a hypothetical water area for the next 3D Mario game. I wanted to create an atmosphere like the deepest part of the ocean, and the deeper you dive, the more alien everything seems. The goal was to create an awe-inspiring, mysterious, and somewhat eerie atmosphere. To get as close as possible to that feeling, I watched a lot of deep-sea videos and observed a variety of creatures that live in the deep sea.
The brine pools were also a major influence on this idea. A lake at the bottom of the ocean, what a fascinating concept!

'深海への旅 れは、新作3Dマリオの水中レベル用に書いたオリジナルテーマだ。海の最深部のような雰囲気を作りたかったし、深くなればなるほど、すべてが異質なものに思えてくる。目標は、畏怖の念を抱かせるような、神秘的で、どこか不気味な雰囲気を作り出すことだった。その感覚にできるだけ近づけるために、深海のビデオをたくさん見て、深海に住むさまざまな生き物を観察した。
ブライン・プールもまた、このインスピレーションに大きな影響を与えた。海の底にある湖、なんとも魅力的なコンセプトだ！

That's somewhere along the lines of the inspirations I had for the direction of this theme! The two main ones for me when choosing the sounds was Sunshine Seaside Underwater & Bubblaine Underwater, so you were pretty much on the mark!

Koji Kondo is a legendary composer and although I understand this comment was just a light joke, I personally don't find it funny. I hold huge amounts of respect for Koji Kondo, as he is one of the composers who's work led me to where I am today!
