In my opinion Tae has the best vocal range and he also has an excellent technique. When you hear Singularity and then something like Stigma both RnB/Jazz you get both ends of the scale. There really isn't anyone like him out there.
Tbh I think Tae and Kook go hand in hand there. Their voices are veryyyy different, just like their techniques but they do share the skill of an insane range

I love this song, and I love how you described his vocals here. I had never put it into words, but "pillow talk" is absolutely the style of the song. It's so interesting to hear what you have to say about his voice. Also, ARMY was screaming about his forehead rather than the mask. BTS's foreheads are the most celebrated foreheads I've ever come across, and I'm not sure why...? But it's a thing. It's very Victorian-man-seeing-an-ankle style.

Not a single Singularity stage was a replica of another because he considered it important to give each audience something new to look forward to since there are many fans who go to multiple shows. I remember taking my mom with me to watch the theatrical release of their Love Yourself Tour in Seoul and she was absolutely mesmerized by Singularity.. The album name sounds better in Japanese as Face yourself. The end result is always.....take off your mask and face your true self. The Narcissist angle fits well with the theory. Like Fake Love, the lyrics' me & you can be literally the speaker & their lover, ie, the self is being subsumed by love OR me & you is the speaker and another version of them, ie, the real self is being hidden behind a fake self/persona we can't break free from. And both lead to LY: Answer, which is all about... loving your real self. I rec looking more closely at the lyrics, MV, and also Joon's behind vlive on Tear. I've always loved V's voice but I've never understood it. Your insight was amazing. Of all the members I think V's voice can change the most. It's like a chameleon. You should listen to some of BTS's earlier stuff, something like Boy in Luv.

Of all the vocal coach reaction vids out there, you are the only one who thoroughly explains the vocal techniques of each artist you react to use. Kudos to you! I'm tired of hearing the words "falsetto" , "breathy", and "airy" all the time without explaining to the viewers how he's able to create his unique "buttery" sound as you described it. Kinda makes it feel like he's not using much technique when he's singing, which I know isn't the case.
So happy to see another Taehyung reaction and Singularity at that! It’s a beautiful piece of art that I cannot imagine anyone else being able to replicate fully. He is a master of expression and we joke that even his hands and eyebrows have choreo, but really they do. Also the amazing part is that he performed this over 60 (?) times and no two performances were exactly the same. This song is also known to be a major factor for a lot of people getting into BTS and Taehyung. His voice is truely gorgeous and unique.

taehyung personally has a fondness for jazz and old blues so it makes a lot of sense for his solos to have elements of those music genres. him being a baritone also makes him suit these songs well, in my opinion anyway.
So... No idea how you edit your videos but from our perspective... Aw thank you! I do it all in real time, my camera only films 20 minutes at a time, so I’ll cut out dead air or when I trip over my tongue (a lot 😂) but the endings I’ll sit for a second, try and remember the melody of a part of the song and think of lyrics over the top, but it’s totally organic, as I never listen to the song before (I rarely even choose the songs before the day I choose to film either, I’m super unorganised 😂)

Baritones are so rare in pop music, I love that you did a reaction to his singing. BTW, the dance was created by a famous choreographer Keone Madrid who comes from a lyrical hip-hop background. That dance is known for mixing up fast and slow tempos in general. The beat and movements are centered around the song lyrics.
I absolutely agree with you! V’s voice is extremely versatile, so many tones and shades and textures. He definitely has his signature sound but you never know where he’ll take it. I find this unpredictability extremely fascinating and entertaining. I think this is really genius of him, actually. As the only baritone in the group who isn’t completely comfortable playing with really high notes on a regular basis, like the other boys do being tenors, he had to evolve his voice to set himself apart and bring depth to BTS sound. And boy, did he ever succeed! Yes, everyone usually goes crazy for tenors and their high notes, but without V’s depth their sound would be a lot more one note, in my opinion.

I don’t have any other ways to request or recommend future requests, so here are a few. Jungkook performed on King of Masked Singers. I had to find the English subtitled video that is the whole episode and found the song If You that he performed. Other videos cut it short and you don’t get the whole performance. I love listening to Jin sing on their Japanese releases. Crystal Snow is a must hear. Also, Jungkook wrote an OST called Your Eyes Tell that really displays all of their vocal abilities. It’s beautiful honestly. Armypedia and Dear Class of 2020 are two videos that show great vocals of all of the guys. They are as enjoyable as the Tiny Desk Concert. I learn so much from your videos! I have been singing since I was a kid. I love Sarah Bareilles. I would love to see you react to her as well. I’m an Alto 2 technically, so my range is pretty wide. Ohhh the thing you said about him spotting himself while singing, the difference between the melody and the dancing... I love the way you got some of the message of the song without even knowing the lyrics. I think you'd appreciate their performance more if you read the lyrics before because everything they do is to serve the message of the song which makes everything so much more enjoyable. If you're interested I'd recommend the doolset blog for lyrics, they always try to explain the things that get lost in translation..
So, both Stigma and Singularity are part of this larger storyline drawn across multiple albums. And both songs are coming from a 'dark' place - both about a boy who was never 'seen'. ("Are you calling me a sinner?" in Stigma) Your points and analysis of how Tae's singing progresses with this song got me wondering if the progression has been made to mirror the story as well. Sorry about the looong and wordy comment: 1. Singularity is about losing yourself for someone or something, possibly a toxic, empty relationship, or guilt (rep: the empty jacket at the start, with just a hand symbolising control over him) whose echoes ring long after it has ended. 2. I wonder if what you describe 5:50 onwards is placed in the song deliberately to say something, to act out trying to reach out but being pulled back by some force. (The lyrics often talk about this - "A sound of something breaking awakens me from sleep. I try to close my ears to it, but I can't..." like 'get out of my head!' or "I don't have a voice of my own (whispery/airy singing), and even today, it's 'that' sound I hear.." 3. And then towards the end, he sings "But spring will surely come someday" where the voice starts getting increasingly stronger (9:38), And finally, (I interpret this as) standing up for himself, where the last line goes, kinda defiantly(?) "Tell me, what else should I have done back then..?" (I did the best I could. What more should I have done?) This is amazing. Thanks for pointing out all those cool things!!

ahhh if only you have known how much Taehyung LOVES jazz. He is like THE BIGGEST FAN ON THE PLANET. And most of his solo songs outside BTS are inspired by this style, I hihgly recommend you to find them on youtube or soundcloud! Also, regarding the dansing "as if he is dansing fast to a completely different song" - there is a mening to that! It illustrates the dissonans between the inner state and what a person shows to the world, I mean, the whole song is about masks (and there ARE literal masks in the performance). It is all really thought through and interesting! there are plenty analysis on yt if you are interested to know more!)

taehyung personally has a fondness for jazz and old blues so it makes a lot of sense for his solos to have elements of those music genres. him being a baritone also makes him suit these songs well, in my opinion anyway.

No idea how you edit your videos but from our perspective...
You hear a song ONCE for the first time and can repeat the melody exactly and sound like the artist you are reacting to, pretty much spot on. 🤯

Aw thank you! I do it all in real time, my camera only films 20 minutes at a time, so I’ll cut out dead air or when I trip over my tongue (a lot 😂) but the endings I’ll sit for a second, try and remember the melody of a part of the song and think of lyrics over the top, but it’s totally organic, as I never listen to the song before (I rarely even choose the songs before the day I choose to film either, I’m super unorganised 😂)
@@SSTVocalCoach and that's why I'm impressed. I sing too but you also have the knowledge of how singing works which for me is what makes you a good vocal coach. I like learning the technical aspects of singing.

Baritones are so rare in pop music, I love that you did a reaction to his singing. BTW, the dance was created by a famous choreographer Keone Madrid who comes from a lyrical hip-hop background. That dance is known for mixing up fast and slow tempos in general. The beat and movements are centered around the song lyrics.

I absolutely agree with you! V’s voice is extremely versatile, so many tones and shades and textures. He definitely has his signature sound but you never know where he’ll take it. I find this unpredictability extremely fascinating and entertaining.
I think this is really genius of him, actually. As the only baritone in the group who isn’t completely comfortable playing with really high notes on a regular basis, like the other boys do being tenors, he had to evolve his voice to set himself apart and bring depth to BTS sound. And boy, did he ever succeed! Yes, everyone usually goes crazy for tenors and their high notes, but without V’s depth their sound would be a lot more one note, in my opinion.
He should watch some of their beginning songs where v almost always had like a little growl to his voice lol

Funny you should mention a pillowtalk element, if you haven't seen/heard, for the stadium tour, instead of a coatrack, he starts off on a bed. The first lyrics of the song talk about a sound waking him up from his sleep.

The choreo is the inner character of the persona that shows without the mask who the writer really is (rm and james perri wrote the song) is he loosing his persona or regaining himself.
The fact that you could catch the meaning of this song just by how Taehyung is singing.... Blew my mind. That means he's actually insanely good. Because the song is about stopping yourself from speaking up. He'd rather stay in the abusive relationship than ruin everything. So the fact that you could hear him convey that JUST through his voice.... Wow

I absolutely love your reactions! Thank you for Singularity with V! His vocal tone is so unique to me. I really enjoy listening to him sing. I really enjoyed listening to you adlib as well. I don’t have any other ways to request or recommend future requests, so here are a few. Jungkook performed on King of Masked Singers. I had to find the English subtitled video that is the whole episode and found the song If You that he performed. Other videos cut it short and you don’t get the whole performance. I love listening to Jin sing on their Japanese releases. Crystal Snow is a must hear. Also, Jungkook wrote an OST called Your Eyes Tell that really displays all of their vocal abilities. It’s beautiful honestly. Armypedia and Dear Class of 2020 are two videos that show great vocals of all of the guys. They are as enjoyable as the Tiny Desk Concert. I learn so much from your videos! I have been singing since I was a kid. I love Sarah Bareilles. I would love to see you react to her as well. I’m an Alto 2 technically, so my range is pretty wide. I find I try out your techniques as I watch along. Thank you Sam!!
Ohhh the thing you said about him spotting himself while singing, the difference between the melody and the dancing... I love the way you got some of the message of the song without even knowing the lyrics. I think you'd appreciate their performance more if you read the lyrics before because everything they do is to serve the message of the song which makes everything so much more enjoyable.
If you're interested I'd recommend the doolset blog for lyrics, they always try to explain the things that get lost in translation..

So, both Stigma and Singularity are part of this larger storyline drawn across multiple albums. And both songs are coming from a 'dark' place - both about a boy who was never 'seen'. ("Are you calling me a sinner?" in Stigma)
Your points and analysis of how Tae's singing progresses with this song got me wondering if the progression has been made to mirror the story as well. Sorry about the looong and wordy comment:
1. Singularity is about losing yourself for someone or something, possibly a toxic, empty relationship, or guilt (rep: the empty jacket at the start, with just a hand symbolising control over him) whose echoes ring long after it has ended.
2. I wonder if what you describe 5:50 onwards is placed in the song deliberately to say something, to act out trying to reach out but being pulled back by some force. (The lyrics often talk about this - "A sound of something breaking awakens me from sleep. I try to close my ears to it, but I can't..." like 'get out of my head!' or "I don't have a voice of my own (whispery/airy singing), and even today, it's 'that' sound I hear.."
3. And then towards the end, he sings "But spring will surely come someday" where the voice starts getting increasingly stronger (9:38), And finally, (I interpret this as) standing up for himself, where the last line goes, kinda defiantly(?) "Tell me, what else should I have done back then..?" (I did the best I could. What more should I have done?)

ahhh if only you have known how much Taehyung LOVES jazz. He is like THE BIGGEST FAN ON THE PLANET. And most of his solo songs outside BTS are inspired by this style, I hihgly recommend you to find them on youtube or soundcloud!
Also, regarding the dansing "as if he is dansing fast to a completely different song" - there is a mening to that! It illustrates the dissonans between the inner state and what a person shows to the world, I mean, the whole song is about masks (and there ARE literal masks in the performance). It is all really thought through and interesting! there are plenty analysis on yt if you are interested to know more!)
