Great video. Are all the Launches using the same high quality hardware as the throttle 3? I don't want or need a big screen, but I don't want something that will break down in a couple of years. BTW, The Turbo 3 does NOT have topology mapping. Torque Link, Torque 5 and Throttle 3 have topology mapping. This is a must for a professional scan tool. UPDATE: looks like launch did an across the board update adding topology mapping their tools that didn't have it before.

I got a trial x431 autoHD pro3. It is amazing compared to my shops current Texa emo 2 tablet.
The Texa is a Microsoft OS
While the launch is a android OS.
Much easier to connect with the launch without a Internet connection.

Yeah I use primarily my Launch X431 Diagun V these days. Handy, Small and it works. Before I bought it I emailed Launch USA and they were very rood and talked about it being from China and the didn't make it or something. I tried to ask about a comparable tool, but the were so rood and short with me, that I decided I wouldn't be a good Idea to buy one from them anyway. Mine has been great. I have a Pico for my scope which I would rather have those separate anyway, that way I can use the scan tool to activate and deactivate things while I am watching the waveform on my scope.

I need some help and I’m hoping you could shed some light on my situation. So I’ve been a technician for 9 years already. About 2 years of the 9 I spent as a lube tech and an apprentice. I started off with 18 wheelers and I hated it so I went to just passenger cars. After my internship I became a master tech for Hyundai. Then I moved to Mazda and became a senior tech. After which I started my own shop which failed because I was just unprepared and didn’t realize that the amount of money I had to sink into opening my own shop and the amount of time it took to get just a small customer base was not enough compensation for the amount of bills I had. So I left and became a transmission tech for Chevrolet. I’ve been a trans tech for Chevrolet for a while now and I’m not far from becoming a world class technician. I already have 2 apprentices under me, I make good money. More money than I would’ve ever thought I’d be making, I make 42/hr and I get flagged $3 off of every hour turned from each of my apprentices. What I need help with is I’m tired of this. I really don’t want to be a technician anymore and have been trying to find something close to what I’ve been making but it’s just so hard to do that because I have nothing but tech experience and it’s very difficult to find something close if not the same pay doing something different. I wouldn’t mind a pay cut but I just can’t at the moment. My wife doesn’t work I’ve been the bread winner since I’ve been with her and have a house and truck payment.

You're not world class. You don't understand the importance of electrical systems. Anyone who "gets it" can explain to any stranger how all the ground bolts, and harnesses need to be cleaned every ten years. To prevent problems. And why it's so important. Then you can charge any random stranger a couple hundred dollars to clean connections for a few hours. And 02 sensors and mass airflow sensor and map sensor.
It's so basic, but it's so important, and big shops don't do that because then the car doesn't fail and they don't make money.
You need a business card, and you need to build a customer base. One $200 job every weekend is ten grand a year.

@@sasquatchrosefarts I’m not sure you understand what world class means for gm… just because I’m not world class doesn’t mean I don’t know electrical systems. I’ve never specialized in electrical because that pay is not there for a shop. I’d rather spend an hour or 2 of a day diagnosing swapping out a valve body and getting paid for my time than spending half a day finding a short to voltage or ground or break in a circuit and get paid less than half. I’ve already tried my own shop, the post was to get away from the profession. It’s a lot easier said that’s done to build a customer base. I didn’t have a paying customer at my shop for at least 1-2 months into it

@@DiagT thank you, I’m not sure if I want to do anything related to this field anymore but I really don’t see any other option. I might like what you suggested it’s just more time I have to spend getting there and I’m just afraid of not liking it in the end.

Dude..I'm a woman and if I were you I'd keep it simple. Keep your day job for a while. In the meantime, I would revisit your lube days if I was you. You don't necessarily need a brick and mortar shop to start. You ever see them trucks that snap halfway down the frame because the frame has rotted? Scare a few people in your neighborhood that just went and bought a new $90k truck. Get some pictures off the internet of these trucks with snapped frames. Next, strike up some conversations with people in your neighborhood and let them know how important it is to treat the bottom of the nice, expensive truck so that it doesn't rot out. I've seen trucks barely 8 years old rotten to the core. You can charge $500 a truck, but find out if there's any local competition. I have looked into these lanolin based protectants that are sprayed on the undercarriages of cars and trucks. They make a big difference. There are also big differences in the products available. I know the best one, but the name of it is currently lost in the files of my brain. I have to look where I wrote it down, too. If you do decide to venture into this, make sure you do your due diligence and DO NOT SPRAY ON RUBBER BOOTS, TIRES, ETC. It will degrade the rubber, but it lengthens the life of the vehicle by a long time. Your mechanical expertise is very much appreciated, but wouldn't it be great just to make some quick money spraying the underside of cars/trucks? The people will keep coming back on a SCHEDULED basis as long as they are happy with you and your product's work. It will almost feel like cheating. You can also throw in a free brake, filter, and fluid level check if you want to do those types of jobs. Someone need some brake pads? Upsell them. Someone need a cabin air filter? Upsell them. We all know mechanics up the price of a cabin air filter about 10 Times higher. At least they do in my area and it only takes 5 minutes or less to change unless you have one of the Park Avenues with the PITA 3 piece air filter in it. Remember, scare them and offer them a solution. Good luck!

The whole launch USA and launch global thing needs to end. Launch needs to consolidate the tools they sell. Just cause it’s launch USA i should pay double the price? They all come from launch in China.
