- finally got around to getting rid of the urine sample bottle and replaced it with a direct mount reservoir from british customs. unboxing, review- ish and install.....
A big improvement from such a simple change. Nice job JC
and no brake bleeding!!!!! whoop whoop!!!! happy cactus!!!! cheers dunc!!!!
Lovely bit of aftermarket kit, didn't really notice the original until you showed in comparison. Keep them coming, looking forward to the sprocket and chain vid, a task that I to have to do soon.
thanks buddy- yeah its a funny one...i didn't notice it until i saw it and thought about it...and then it stuck out!!! ha ha- yeah i'm itching to get that vid up- half done but just trying to sort out the tyres...decisions and logistics of strapping two wheels to the bonnie- or being patient and waiting until the car becomes available!!!
Nice clean lines and black as well-bonus. The stock reservoir looked like a Triumph after thought. Nice to see the Bonnie get some TLC mate
thank you mark!!! yeah the ol black beauty needs some love!!!- i guess riding and starring at that lump of plastic hour after hour started to grate on me!!! i think its a cleaner more minimal improvement...less is more as they say!!!
Very nice JC, beginning to think youve got an eye for this malarkey lol ,RS mate
nah mate- guesswork and luck i reckon!!!! and an unhealthy obsession!!! ha ha ha- all the best buddy- happy safe riding to you too!!
i didnt realize how much mine bothered me until i watched this video. Looks like another item to add to my British Customs shopping cart ;-)
Nice Job!
Much better than that big old statue that was there! ... Nice work as usual!
cheers buddy!! i think a vast improvement on the fugly original!!!
Very nice bit of kit. I can't believe you have an en suite toilet in you garage ^^
all the mod cons mate!!! - you know how it is- when you are 'in the zone' you can't be running inside for a wee!!! no 2's are a little more tricky mind.......
Nice straightforward swap over, and no bleeding bleeding! You already know I think this is a vast improvement, although I did notice that the new reservoir doesn't seem to have to diaphragm set up the old one had. As to whether this is important I have no idea!
thankfully no bleeding bleeding!!!!!!! there is a diaphragm in the new one- at 11.15 you can see it between the reservoir body and the lid- good test ride today and all performing as it should!!! whoop whoop!!
Hi Mr Cactus, just fitted one of these to my scrambler, put the o ring on, pushed the stem bit into lever assembly, circlip's back in its grove, but I have some movement ie the stem bit has play in it! Was yours a tight fit without any play? I'm just worried that it'll leak due to this movement. And thanks for this video as due to no instructions, I didn't realise it was an allen key used when tightening the reservoir.
Hi Steve. Mine is a tight fit- there is no play. It's been awhile since I fitted it- but I seem to recall it was quite a hard push to get it to seat correctly. I f all the o rings are in place i'd suggest removing the stem- a little brake fluid to lubricate and try re seating it mate.
Just took it off to make sure it was seated correctly, and it was, the circlip is not holding it in place so I made a plastic washer to take up the slack (prob less than 1/4mm) between the fitting and the circlip which now holds it firmly in place. Btw, did check old fitting and o ring, both a firm fit, so that sort of eliminates wear on the o ring. Now in touch with supplier, as maybe a manufacturing problem. Cheers for your reply....great videos!
glad you got it sorted mate!! a shame it wasn't as straightforward as it should have been!!
I don't know that it would have occurred to me to do that swap, but the new rig is definitely MUCH tidier. Little things like that really add to the overall look.
it's weird mate- never ever occurred to me with the clip ons- never noticed it but as soon as the flat bars went on it almost smacked me in the face!!!!- i blame my OCD!!!!
100% improvement Bud!
hoorah! cheers mate- happy cactus!
Ayup JC.. Inside of the new annex reminds me of 'Flight of the Navigator'....Compliance..! (Love the new improved sample pot....better just have a half now its a bit smaller aye.? lol )
ha ha- its got that space age groovy ness to it now!!! almost be a shame to eventually clad it!!! ah well at least it warm in there now!!! yeah- ol' paper bladder here has to keep a check on fluids now we are a bit smaller on the sample pot!!!
looks better on 2 fronts JC, firstly its lower than the piss pot, secondly its black, great improvement sir!
thanks my friend!!!- hell yeah- black and badass...its gotta be a winner ain't it???!!!!
Great video JC; perfectly illustrated what I needed to do. I don't have OCD but that old piss pot and the metal stump it's on always rankled with me. I was torn whether to spend the money, but it was worth it. Bought the item direct from US BC site as it was half the price of the same item from a well known UK BC seller.
Nigel Dean bonus!!! nice one mate!! yep- as soon as i put flat bars on the piss pot just stood out horribly!- tidy bit of kit- and in your case nice bargain!!!
Did you stock brake line pipe and whow do you bleed the system after a new line has been fitted. Regards Phil.
Great little mod for the Triumph bud never heard or thought of a brake reservoir described as a piss pot before but now you mention it maybe because it's a combined single low profile unit on my BMW
yeah bizarre really- the trumpets with 1" bars have a compact intergrated set up and the 7/8 bar versions suffer from the plastic after thought!!!
Still working good is it? Looking to this reservoir too, but I've heard that some people experience leaking! Nothing you've noticed? Thanks for a great channel btw!
Glad to hear I'm not the only one who hates bleeding brakes always takes 2 or 3 tries to get it right
That damn elbow was hard to remove Finished product looks better than stock
cheers buddy- yeah brakes do my head in- usually a combo of regular bleeding- reverse bleeding- one way valves, cable tie on the lever etc etc....never straightforward!!!!!
I always seem to get air bubbles in the caliper area & pain to bleed it all out
i have yet to try speed bleeders- actually replacing the bleed nipple with a nipple with one way valve..perhaps i'll give the ago one day- at least with the bonnie i'm only dealing with one caliper and line..i hated the two caliper set ups!!! ha ha!
johnnycactus0 I've not heard of speed bleeders I'll have to check into those sounds easier/better
Great vid JC, you'll be to posh to ride with soon mate.
Do you know if its the same mod for the tiger?
ha ha- don't worry mate i'll still be the same scruffy toerag bringing the tone down!!! as for fitting the tiget- i had a look on the fittings and it only lists thrux, bonnie, scram and speed triple up to certain vins.....however they say it'll fit any nissin master cylinder?? is it a nissin still on your tiger?? here's the uk link- www.squaredeals-ltd.co.uk/british-customs-motorcycle-direct-mount-reservoir-kit-21958-p.asp
Vast improvement. I've got a brake bleed due... can't wait :/
it's defo my achillies heel (did i spell that right?) bleeding brakes!!!!! good luck my friend- i am still experimenting with my 'one total fix' method!!! i have hope!!!
Hi Ya Ian. How's it going? The old flat bars/clip-ons dilemma. I agree with the brake res. look much neater. Bikes looking mint :-)
wayhey! hi ya fella!!!! how the devil are ya!!! - i was wondering how you were getting on- had the side mount out and offered up to the sr250!!! - well the dilemma is over!!!- no more going back!!!!- pretty happy though- love the lsl bars ;-)
good job --looking a hole lot better
thanks stuart- i'm much happier!!!
Very nice bud, looks loads better, RSM8.
cheers skeggy good buddy!!!- yeah it might be my OCD but i'm a happy bunny!!!
What's it look like with clip ons mate........?
Nice clean mod.
ha ha ha!!!!- i'll buy some and have a look!!!- next vid!!! ha ha!!!
Your squash bottle piss cup is a big improvement on the torque wrench container, 2 foot of cylindrical piss was an accident waiting to happen. The baby piss cup looks good too xx
you will notice that no other man cave dweller has commented on the remote urine disposal unit. thus leads me to believe that i am correct in my assumption that the act of wringing ones kidneys out into an available container is a wholly acceptable practise. xx
very neat mate ... heaps better than the old piss cup lol
totally mate!!- it was really get on my nerves!!- kept glancing down at it whilst riding today with a smile!!!
That looks way better Ian.Just goes to show that the devil is in the detail.Good eye my friend
cheers bill buddy!!! - yeah this prick is a happy cactus!!! little subtle differences but i think its and improvement...less is more as they say!
Oooh, that's nice :)
why thank you kind sir- if its got my man dyson approval then job done!!! - plus heaven forbid i spend any cash on something sensible like food or a mortgage...that'd just be daft ehh????? ;-)
johnnycactus0 Haha, where's the joy in that :)
Nice little touch me like it but I've got different controls.....money saved 😁
bah!!!! you and yer 1" bars of joy!!!! - save ya money and go and extend yer swingarm!!!!!!!! ha ha ;-)
Just seen Nick Serrano's bike he had extended by 3 inches
ha ha- i re watched that this morning too!!!! damn it looks nice!!! i love the bridgestone spitfires....that bike really does have a killer stance. can't wait to see yours buddy.
That will take some time need to finish box next week and send it over to Poland ASAP
Luv your shop looks like a space ship! lol
ha ha- thats what my wife says!!!- i quite like the astro traveller vibe!!!- it'll be a shame to cover it up with cladding eventually!!!!
It's black and its minimalist ...why wouldn't you? Looks good on your bike, got it right again my friend.
bless ya buddy!! thank you- its the little things ehh??? and as i was still a little sore after selling the clip ons and rearsets it went some way towards softening the blow!!!
much better, but i still think it looks way to daft the way it stands up in the air ! smaller yes but not nice enough in my opinion
hey buddy!!!- i have to agree somewhat that the intergrated reservoir is the nicest solution- i'm afraid i never did sort out a brake lever to fit the res you kindly gave me!!!- its stored up ready for the next project!!! hope ya well buddy- happy new year!
johnnycactus0 happy new year to you too!! well not all goes as planned , but hope you get it used for some good!
Nice,neat and tidy.....result! .....The reservoir, not you!😜
ha ha- it would be a shock if anyone described me as nice neat and tidy!!!!- if personalities were brake reservoirs i'd defo be in the scabby piss cup plastic camp!!!
Aaaw brother Cactus nice move man,you would think triumph would sort those piss poor fuckin efforts out wouldn't ya!! some nice billet/moulded jobbie from factory is needed is it not comrade? something neater and just better!...a few small changes here n there surely wouldn't add too much to the final price of a new machine!! for instance on my triple theres two mounting holes left for a lower chain guard, but the issue I find is the holes they left for YOU to fit one stick out like bulldogs bollocks, these shiny machined alloy sections of the swinging arm set against the black paint work of it!!..makes no sense to me,why didn't they just fit a nice small guard from the factory to start with!!!
anyow,peace out brother n ride safe!!......Res looks fuckin lovely mate..later eh...bizz
it beats me - the 1" bar bikes have the all in one alloy res...but the seemed to forget for the 7/8 versions....bizzarre!!!! triumph do a replacement but its just as big n fugly and mounts in the same place....i guess they like to leave a few untidy areas so we go through the accessories catalogue ehh??? cheers bizz! rock n roll buddy- rsm
