This message, and the message entitled "What the Early Christians Believed about The Kingdom Parables of Jesus", are the two messages from brother Bercot that have challenged me the most. All of the points in this message desperately need to be heard by all who profess to be Christians, since a joining of the church and the world is so widely accepted today and the teachings in this message are so often overlooked.. The New Testament is crystal clear on these points, and the Early Christian writings show us that these points can indeed be put into practice in everyday life. Separation from the world was a key part of the early Christians' witness to the lost world and it desperately needs to be recovered today. As much as I am challenged by brother Bercot's discussion of the main points of this message, to me it is the closing minutes of this message that are the real highlight. Those last few minutes are a real gem, as a vision of what Christianity once was - and what it once again can be! - is very beautifully set forth. This is a highly, highly, recommended message.
Just beautiful, thank you Brother for this message. These days it seems like we hear more about doctrines than the doctrine of Christ which is according to godliness. Christians simply must live by the teachings of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I'm so touched by this message, thank you.
Challenging, but encouraging information. I appreciate this series being easily accessible, but I do want the Dictionary in my library. One of these days...
+Brokenhill Good on you. i got the dictionary in my library and is very good resource. It will challenge you in your beliefs. It did me. Petty many professing Christians think of this as a New Teachings and dismiss it altogether. Or dismiss it for the laziness sake.
A friend of mine ended up gifting it to me. I really like it. And you're right, just because it's not scripture they throw it out the window without giving it much thought. The way I see it, is that pre-nicene Christians have got to be a lot closer than what we are today of the root Church. Obviously we can't get any closer than NT scripture, but these writings offer additional insight and specific applications of difficult topics (like modest dress) which are too helpful to ignore.
Great you have a very good friend. Treasure that relationship. Please. And you are very right to say that they had a better understanding of the writings as well. Their secret was that they took words of the New Testament-Literally. And that is what I learned from them. I was trained to " Interpret" everything I read. And I ended up in a mess. Last night I got a shock when a guy who never read anything early fathers wrote said that he does not have a time to waste on apostate church fathers. He assuming that he himself holds the ultimate truth. All the while he trods in the footsteps of John Calvin and other Gnostics. Keep it up. Always ask questions Who wrote it ,to whom was written , what is core message or issue this book or passage addresses? Try to get yourself a bible without chapters and verses that is how our early christians would read the Bible. Ultimate question to ask any Bible passage is what action or obedience this passage requires of me? How does it apply in my daily life and how will I thus Glorify my Lord.
Im so glad you thought to ask about this teaching/pre-nicene church, and Im glad someone answered you. I am going to check it out myself. Since I have been saved I have been studying alot and this man has reminded me of how my parents and grandmother used to teach me. If you ever care to chat I am dana.bause@yahoo . I was raised in michigan but now live in florida. I am married woman in poor health...lol and they"re arent many true christians around here...lol believe me, my experience in the local churches leaves much to be desired. If they arent letting masons lead the prayers, they are canceling bible studies for the superbowl.lol take care and God bless you. :)

at a certain time one has to effect a call to action......saying this, once again......after all, this is not an academic endeavor.....or is it....
