A super live recording and superb musicianship and communication all round. Amazing how many different unconventional sounds and timbres you can get from your instruments too. 👏👏✨✨
I’m calling the fire department this is smoldering.. someone is blazing the space. I’m loving it! A wonderful combination of instruments and skilled Playing! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
What a delight it is to listen to the soothing Out to Brunch! A perfect port in the storm of the madding crowd. I love the three movements of this live improvised performance, each one having its own story and voice. Really great production gentlemen! Bravo!
Always love watching everyone collaborate over here, on a perfect mental wavelength with each other to make all these improvs so awesome! Loved the names of each section too, some great ones & very creative 👌🔥👏
oh comme on est bien dans cet univers ! Roland à la contrebasse c'est génial, Urbuli Baba qui lâche les chiens et la chaleur d'Antonino Nolé, quel bon moment ,merci les amis .
This iddea of a thematic suite fascinates me, the architype of the righteous Orphan, bespeaks the rise of rebellion, appropriate for the Pluto in Aquarius cycle that last happened 248 years ago during a time of revolution.
hahaha, thanks, Roger! not wanting to disappoint you or anything, but this was, as you might have guessed, a wholly artificial fabrication on my part while editing the video! I usually like to divide longer videos into chapters for people who can't watch the whole thing but would still like to hear bits of different kinds of atmospheres. The righteous orphan thing probably comes from my fascination with the symbolism of the insurrectionary child in literature and cinema, from Pinocchio (especially in Commencini's film version) and Gavroche to J-P Léaud in Truffaut's 400 blows!
@ It seems that if you don’t stay in the box, they call us eccentric…I take it as a compliment…who wants to be a robot…you make unique music…smiles & good wishes…Reeka💫
many Thanks, Paul! haha, well, since this is Antonino's official debut as a cinematographer, I'm inclined to cut him some slack... besides, his having put me right in the center of the image (a drummer's rightful place, as everyone knows) bears testament to a sound mind and great taste! ;)
Up the Workers!! Pay RD for his labour!!! Great session!! Recording and musical quality of the highest order!!! Great new recruit, and nice surprise to see RD on double bass!! Will it be your turn next on the bass???
hehehe, thanks a lot! Well.... since it's free jazz after all, I suppose I could attempt a very deconsructed prepared-intrument type of approach, laying the bass down on the floor and hitting it with all kinds of random objects, whilst looking intimidatingly serious (as I always do anyhow!)... But not sure I'll find a doublebassist willing to lend me their instrument!
tantissime grazie, Calogero! sarebbe interessante anche per noi provare un tipo diverso di lineup con la chitarra e il contrabasso per alcuni pezzi quando ci vediamo!
Thanks a lot, Ian! oh, i know!! I've always been a big fan of the bass clarinet, ever since discovering the work of Dolphy and Bob Mintzer as a teen! sadly though, they appear to be an endangered species these days... 🥲Happy new year, btw!
@urbulibaba Happy New Year to you, as well...Hopefully with lots of music for all! I'll start with a trio recording at the end of the month with guitar, trumpet, and yes, some bass clarinet! Looking forward to new stuff from you!
@urbulibaba Just the fellas from my band Monkeyworks: Jim Stagnitto - Trumpet/effects/beautiful tone, and Steve Peckman - woodwinds/even more effects/beautiful tone! Check them out on our Seeking cd, The Chilton Street Caper: ruclips.net/video/rRagLX2wtco/видео.html
Actually, they aren't using effects at all on this recording but will be on the new stuff, as we are going for a whole different approach. The engineer on "Chilton..." put way too much compression on the acoustic guitar, as it was printed that way...oh well, a lesson learned!
Thanks a bunch, man! ha, I suppose the soft, woody texture of the bass clarinet is somewhat reminiscent of a warm buzzing sound... Hope you're well, my friend!
I dig this Horn Player! ...those percussive things he's doing are great! Is that a Baritone Sax? Are you using that Condenser? Or just the Stereo Pair of Mics? Have I heard you play in this room before? Sounds great! Your Cymbals were lost in the beginning... but once you dropped the Rods & started playing Sticks, the balance & Dynamics were wonderful!
Thanks man! haha I've actually done tons of videos with Roland (including in this room) ever since we started collaborating some 6 months ago, but I don't think you've seen them as you're working your way backwards through my videos, hehe! :P the old videos were all recorded using my zoom recorders haphazardly resting on chairs and stools, so the sound quality certainly left a lot to be desired.. Roland's using his own gear to record our sessions now, i think we used eight mics for this one. Antonino's actully playing a bass clarinet at the beginning (hence the cheeky title spoofing Eric Dolphy's "out to lunch" album!) What are you listening to music on, out of interest? even the first part before I picked up the sticks sounds pretty clean on my headphones...
A super live recording and superb musicianship and communication all round. Amazing how many different unconventional sounds and timbres you can get from your instruments too. 👏👏✨✨
thank you very much, LV! the addition of the clarinet definitely opens up new textural spaces for everybody to explore!
Great and emotional trio, the drums are a beauty of subtlety
muchissimas gracias amigooo!! (come over here someday! :D)

hahaha, best comment ever! 🤣🤣 thank you so much buddy!! sending much love! 💜💜💜
This was a very pleasing session. Everyone sounded great in the mix and you were all balanced on the same plane.
Thanks a bunch, TS! Hope you'll be back from your break soon enough! bets wishes for the new year btw!

@urbulibaba You're welcome! And yes I am well!

Great jams my friend! 👍👍👍The bass clarinet has a very enjoyable sound!
mange takk, Tomas, I've always loved the sound of it, ever since I discovered Bob Mintzer and Eric Dolphy as a teenager!

@urbulibaba Those are archetypes too! Thanks for the great music!
Loving the atmosphere created here,sounds eccentric & excellent…just how I like my lifestyle…stay edgy & shine on💫
haha, thanks Reeka! we're all a bunch of eccentrics in the experimental music community, aren't we! 😂💜

Yes!!!! This is outstanding. Such delicate and intricate playing from all (and an almost perfectly framed video, too)

As usual, very nice rapport and exchange of ideas going on here, and I love all the segues into different moods.
Thank you very much, Fred! I hope all's well with you! 💜

Magica esibizione! E Roland è grande anche al contrabbasso, wow, bravissimi! è venuta fuori una jam piena di architetture musicali universali!

Certo che sì. Il mio stile chitarristico è fondamentalmente Rock-Blues-Psichedelico🎸
Great just Great!!
Thank you, LP! :D
Dig, Urbuli...as I say to one of the fellas in my band: "One can never have enough bass clarinet!" Great playing from all of you!
