@MrBeevee5 In the US you described self defense perfectly. A person with a weapon doesn’t necessarily has to actually attack you with it for you to use lethal force, they can just pull it out and threaten you with it which allows you to use lethal force. Despite a popular myth going around the US, actual federal and state laws state that you do not have to give any verbal warning before shooting a person, there’s also no law against shooting someone from the back or someone that’s running from you. It’s all under circumstances on how and why you shot a person.

Police officers dressed in strange uniforms that looked more like fishermen than officers tried to park a civilian car without special signals and markings on the sidewalk near Tanuki (sushi bar).
The period of detention before trial can be extended for up to 12 months, according to Russia's Criminal Procedure Code, if a court permits.
