  • In our studio interview we talk to Le Ly about her memoirs that were turned into Oliver Stone's 1994 movie "Heaven and Earth" the third in his trilogy of Vietnam films. Le Ly was joined in our studio by Mark Conroy, a farmer from Beekmantown who spent 23-years working for Le Ly's foundation in Vietnam helping to rebuild villages, constructing schools, hospitals, clinics, universities and water systems that helped millions recover after the war.

I read both of Le Ly Hayslip books. Life changing. I was a teenager and I got to experience the Bosnia wars. I love the how she tells her story and how she intertwine that's with Buddhism. Her books are a must read.

I found Le Ley's book in 2011 and finally had the chance to read it although I saw the Heaven and Earth in the theater. Both were so moving I can't help from shedding a tear. My Uncle recently past who was in the American Conflict ; he until his death was devastated, he was a Black American who loved his country but was disappointed to no end. Having to fight for his own civil rights and live through pain and suffering in the south only to go elsewhere and destroy other people, he never forgave himself. He instilled in me to love, respect, and understand other cultures, I love him for that. This book will be always close to my heart. Thank Le Ley🙏❤

The book is even better. Although the film captures the books very well.

I love this lady. She spoke to me in email and her books have changed my life in a positive direction. I tell everyone about her at the barbershop where I work. I show them her books and let them read them.
