The pier is on the gulf. Think about it man.. wahoo and sails usually stay 200 feet deep or more.. mahi come in close all day. Go check some pier mahi videos. It happens way more often than the sails or hoos. If you're close to the gulf currents you get all sorts of crazy shit.

Haven't caught a squirrel hake sizeable enough to eat tho but heard nothing but greatness about them. Great vid as always!👍

do the party boats in montauk anchor over the structure/reefs? out in nassau county they always anchor so we never get any ocean fluke down here. also we call hake ling around here.
