Thank you for making this video. Product is nice and helpful to use on maintaining your car or other batteries. Unfortunately, I find the price a bit high. If it comes down under US $50 bucks or so, I will consider to get one. Again thank you for making this video. :)
Thanks for the review and video. Well done. Do you think this would work ok if I connected it to 4 12V batteries simultaneously? My boat has 4 batteries that will not be charged otherwise for 5 months during the off-season drydocked in a boatyard in the tropics. I just need trickle charge to keep them healthy while I’m away for the off season. Thanks in advance
it probably would work pretty well so long as all of your batteries are in parallel and their size isnt too large. A lead acid battery can lose 5-20% charge a month so lets assume that its 10% across 4 200ah batteries at 12 volts. that would be around 960 watt hrs (not a perfect conversion but close enough). 20 watts running 5 hrs a day would easily keep them topped up
Can this be left on your rv, or whatever, for months at a time without damage to the batteries? Some solar panels you can't, like Regony. Some solar panels you have get a device that goes between the battery and the panel to stop any problems from happening, ie the green "Tender", I think is called a controller. T4TV.
Can I connect the solar power wires and install them directly to the battery terminals to charge them permanently? While the car is running or when the car is parked
It is not recommended to keep the solar panel connected when running the alternator. You could potentially install something like a relay to disconnect the panel when the car is running.
@@Rickmakes That doesn't seem to make sense. The solar panel's built in charge controller has a circuit to prevent over charging and will disconnect the panel from the battery when the battery reaches full charge at about 12 Volts. As soon as the alternator starts, it will deliver more than 12.0 volts, which the charge controller will detect and disconnect the solar panel. Am I missing something here? I had a roof top solar panel on my van connected directly tot he battery for 9 years with no issues.
It wouldn't be feasible to charge with a garage light. You would need a garage light as bright as the sun focused on the panel. This could be thousands of watts of light.
@@Rickmakes how about your high beams on the car? They run off of 12v! Or some Jeep flood lights they are just 12v, ?.? Just set it up in front of the car and turn on the lights! ???
I need solar panel to keep my 110ah battery topped up when in winter storage will the one you showed do this please only thing on is alarm flashing light
@@Rickmakes I’m thinking of connecting direct to battery. Is there a quick disconnect or switch I can use? What happens if I forget to disconnect before start the engine?
Why is there no option to install this on the car permanently? I don't want to pop the hood in the parking lot in front of Walmart to attach the clamps to the battery. Is that because it's not safe for permanent use? Why not just have special connectors instead of alligator clamps and have the wires fed directly into the cabin to keep the solar charger connected 100% of the time? This way, it could charge the battery continuously. Install it once for the like of the car and never worry about it again.
What are you wishing to use the solar panel for? These are usually used to maintain a battery when the car is not being driven regularly but it sounds like maybe you have some other use case in mind.

@rickmakes will this charge 100 amp 12v lithium battery? Also, can it be placed on my interior dashboard and charge items from inside my van?
You recommended acid batteries but i've heard lithium batteries hold more energy.. would a lithium compete with the traditional acid batt ?

Thanks for the advice.
I need something just like this, but a bit smaller, to use on my motorcycle to charge a power bank while riding...
Thanks 👍
Rick will this one stop my battery from any damage as it got built-in controller thanks for your quick response
thank you🎉

T4TV.
Yes. This solar panel has a built in charge controller. It is designed to be a battery tender or battery maintainer and has over charge protection.
@@Rickmakes wow, that's great to hear. Thank you.
What is the size or measurements of the Suner Power BC20W Pro?
Hey Rick,
Can you show how to test the solar panel with a multimeter to see if the solar panel working properly ?
Please

Do you know if it's possible/practical to daisy-chain two of these?
I'm not sure if you can do that? I would guess you could connect two to a battery in parallel but probably not in series to get 24V.
@@Rickmakes I had two 1.5 amp trickle charge panels connected in series to deliver 3 amps to the battery.
Our stop working do you know if it has reset
I don’t think it has a reset. Have you checked with a meter?
@@Rickmakesno it just stop working now power at all
Why not put it inside the car and test it?

It is recommended that you disconnect it before starting your car.

@fchiang7190, maybe install the appropriate fuse and mount a kill switch inside your vehicle.
❤ I like it

is a controller needed
I used a controller but from what I understand, it isn't really needed.
Will it work in Michigan?
Does Michigan have a different sun to the rest of Earth?
It can but Michigan charges you tax per watt hour.
What is the battery monitor?
