Bought one July 2020. Mainly used for stick and it’s been great so far. Haven’t had much luck with mig settings, but I have no idea with mig. Book doesn’t give that much detail on settings. A chart inside cover would be handy
@@nathanallen2051 do you find they fit right? I've got small spools for mine but I can't get the nut on if I use the spring. It sorta works with just the nut but doesn't seem right. The instructions are garbage
Iv got the 188x boss weld mig welder i rang the company to ask about settings and they said just match the wire speed dial with volts dial on the lines not the numbers as they don’t correlate,I find just have wire speed a fraction further ahead every time, just go up for thick steel and down for thinner steel easy, also only have run it with gas so don’t know anything about gassles settings
Mate, I did the exact same thing. Just bought this welder from bunnings. Got it home and went to put a small spool on and I'm like "wtf?.." I did get it on by removing the plastic bobbin but I think I'll get the big spool instead as it just all fits together better...
G'day Shane, Welder is going well. If anything it's taught me that I need a lot more practice. It's a very forgiving machine and makes up for a lot of my lack of experience but getting the settings right on a practice piece first is a must! cheers, marc
This is why reading the manual is important as it explains the polarity set up and 1kg spool set up in it otherwise decent review just a bit of reading needed next time
The instructions are garbage. I still don't think I've got mine set up right with the little spool. If I use the spring I can't get the nut on but it's basically impossible to tension the spool correctly without the spring. It's like the shaft isn't long enough.
@@MrAcgolem the instructions may have been updates as I got mine only recently but for me it was pretty clear and given I have owned a few MIGs it maybe just second nature to me
Love the welding trolley. Only in Oz
Thnxs 4 the unboxing man ! The mts185 is definitely on my wish list !
the number you see at the front of the wire feed wheel is the number of the back feeding groove. its that way so you can read which one is in use

Think u gotta remove the rear wheel aswell to get the small wire reals to fit.
You are correct. Have the same machine and I’m running the small spool

Sorry but I have to chuckle. Bunnings DID recommend the correct spool of wire. You just have to take off the large spool bobbin/ adapter 🤪
so you changing from ac to a dc welder depending on using gas or gassless? So is it ac for gas?
Sorry mate dont whant to put u down
But the smaller spool fits as well
I thought it did! Do you know how? I'm trying to put mine on now 🤣
I got them to fit but not well and can't use the tension spring.

That’s funny I did the same thing then watched this I wish I watched this first .
To remove the spool holder nut Use a pair of needle nose pliers, replacing the plastic nut be careful not to crossthread
Where can I buy replacement parts for this machine?
Order in Vietnam
How did it all go with the welder

Hey mate, where'd you get the gas bottle from?
Hi Anthony, its a BOC rental through BILBA industries in Kirrawee. You can see me getting it in Ep9.
Cheers,
Marc

Painful watching this. Though im sure you got your head around it by now.
Watching others reviews on RUclips would have helped you.
