Lol my dog’s name is Cricket and she perked up hearing you say the word 😂 I told her “how nice of you to sponsor Regan’s video!”
love that!
I read Malice last year but it took me 2 months, I also have a small child and he didn't make it easy lol. I did something a bit cray, I took notes on every single chapter that had new characters introduced or when something significant happened, yes it made the reading slow but I retained so much more info. John's sons have a YT channel on here too, they often talk about how their dad would discuss the progress of Malice over dinner every night and how they bonded with the story and the characters on a very personal level :)
Welcome to the world of Corban. I read all four books back to back, and had to take small breathing breaks. I loved this series! Enjoy the rest, it only gets better 😊.
And to cry your eyes out when your heart was broken. Can't have been just me who was destroyed by one of the books
As a Canadian - we definitely still call it a Canadian Tuxedo!
Super excited that you're reading Malice. It's SO GOOD. Hopefully you'll enjoy the entire series.
The second book in the faithful and the fallen series is definitely way more intense, it gets crazier as the series goes on
The Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews is one of my favorite series of all time, love to see you reading it!
Ilona Andrews is a favorite author, though I've mainly listened to the audiobooks. Ferret heist!
loved the ferret heist!
I think you are going to love the next books a lot! He does set up a lot in the first book, but it makes so much sense later. I yelled so much into the void with third and fourth book
Ilona Andrews and Patricia Briggs books are honestly my Jam I fly through their books!
Yay! This series is amazing! Please put Ryan Cahill on your TBR. His Bound and Broken series is so underrated and phenomenal.
Thank you for giving Ilona Andrews a try (imo they're sadly so underrated) and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Their books are my all time favorites. The Hidden Legacy series (starting with Nevadas arc) is fantastic. I love how IA manages to combine very solid, well thought out fantasy worlds with compelling main and side characters and their individual stories. I highly highly highly recommend the Kate Daniels series as well. It gets better with every book and I love Kate to pieces. The audio books for both series are narrated by Renee Raudmann and they're sooo incredibly good. Read and listened to both series a couple of times by now and it never gets old. I hope you have fun exploring the rest of IA writing over time.
Edit: you're right, the covers are really bad and tacky and almost made me opt out of reading them BUT they're getting a makeover very soon 🎉
I agree with everything you've said. I binge read the Innkeeper series and I need more!
I read Burn for Me after seeing you read it because the concept seemed super interesting and then I binged the entire series and several of Ilona Andrews' other books hahaha
When I read Malice, if I tried to read anything else, my mind was on Malice. Its so gripping and you can't say why, you just have to be with these characters to see whats going on. 🤩
I love all your thoughts on Malice. I think this is the first book that you have talked about that I have already read and you were just reading. You really are great at summarizing the book and communicating your thoughts so clearly. 😊
Kastell was one of my favorites reading this book the first time… and his arc was I think a set up for a certain someone to have an explosive and crazy revenge arc. And I’m so excited to read it.
Canadian here - we also call denim on denim “Canadian tuxedos” 😂🤵♂️
Yes to soups in fall, love me a good carrot & ginger or beetroot & tomato soup and making a big batch for freezing. Or veggies + tortellini. 😋😋
OMG! I love "will-they-wont-they" so I downloaded the first 2 books in the series hahaha and yes, Canadian Tuxedo! Malice is on my TBR for November bc I love Fantasy during winter...
There's glossarys in the next three books. What i found helpful was going to the faithful and fallen wiki and jotting down a couple of lines about the main pov characters plus who they were related to. Really helped things click for me.
Truth and Courage!!
Such fun reads but I hope you'll pick up The House Witch again! I was so excited for you to read it last blog cause I'd love to know your thoughts! I love that cozy book series! ❤
millie’s watching through the window: a single mom who works too hard who loves her kids and never stops…..
For urban fantasy with a dash of romance you should really try the October Daye series by Seanan Mcguire. It has been nominated for the Hugo's best series FOURS TIMES and it deserved to win every single time.
omgggggg will check out!
I love her, she writes under other names and all her books are incredible!
Yes! One of my favorite series.Reading a new release of it always feels like coming home
@@ozencasli yes!! The characters feel like family.
This was perfect timing because I also finished Malice yesterday randomly. Totally agree it was a SUPER slow start it didn't really kick into gear for me until around Chapter 58 but then those final 30 chapters were awesome and left me excited to see what is next in the rest of the series. For me Malice felt much more A Song of Ice and Fire rather than Wheel of Time with the strong focus on character and political scheming and the minimal use of magic, but it definitely is fully classic fantasy vibes.
My copy of Malice looks like my college textbooks did, with Post-It notes, half sheets of paper covered in notes plus notes all over the pages & things highlighted!! It's CRAZY for something fun, but it is SO good and gets better & better!!🥰
i started reading malice on a whim; didn't know what i was getting myself into and actually had to restart it after slogging through about 15 chapters and gradually falling off the wagon. lol. anyway, i finally powered through it, and got completely hooked. the rest of the series is an absolute whirlwind and is so, so amazing.
The Faithful and the Fallen is definitely John Gwynnes game of thrones. It really pops off hard book 2 and on. So many POVs before the end.
that's what I hear!!
Love your vlogs!! I do wish there was a lot more footage of you actually reading! That’s what I love about reading vlogs and inspires me to read :)
Awesome vlog ‼️💯I can’t wait to see what your take on Malice is .😊
I love John Gwynne so much!
Same, it was his birthday yesterday too :)
Just wait until you get to Ruin. Make sure you have Wrath on hand. This series is phenomenal.
Brb putting a hold on Malice at my library 😆The cover is so pretty as well! I also loved your menu, so cute and autumnal!
Did you read it? Did you like it?
I love the Faithfull and Fallen series, Malice is a slow book but so worth it imo
New reading vlog…. Yayyyyy ❤❤❤
It's 97° here today and I told my husband it feels like fall. 🤦🏻♀️ But there was a breeze and it's cooler than it has been. It's funny how different it is when you live in a hot climate.
Malice is great and so is its sequel. I still have to read Ruin myself.
Ilona Andrews is the best!
Ilona (how many different ways can you say that? 😂) Andrew's is one of my favorite authors. I've read all their books. Have you tried Patricia Briggs? Really great urban fantasy with slow burn romance.
I do remember she read at least one or two Briggs books. I adore them, but I think they were 3 🌟 for her.
I'm reading faithful and the fallen after I've finished Joe Abercrombie's 1st law series
Your Name is such a good movie. I love anime and manga (though I read more than I watch).
We definitely call it a Canadian tuxedo also lol
Totally unrelated but I am in love with the artwork behind your espressor machine/coffee press. Do you know the artist by chance? Also thanks for the blog! Loved it!
Ilona Andrews are great authors. They have a bunch of books and series that are so worth it.
I want a circuit so bad… they seem so fun
Listen, I’m in Ohio, and right now our forecast is high 70s alllll week next week and I. Am. Hyped for the mild weather.
Your video reminded me I bought Malice 5 years ago while on a trip to London and have still not read it 😬
can confirm in canada we also call it a canadian tuxedo hahaha
As a Canadian, I can confirm we also call it a Canadian tuxedo!
Your complaint about Malice was mine- we need a character index. It was hard enough to remember who was who, then we also had to remember eye color and hair...it was rough.
I love Malice but I need to read rest of the series
Just finished this vlog and I am really enjoying your channel. It gives me ideas on what I would like to read next. Also, I really LOVE the pumpkin that you have your couch. Where is from? I NEED one!!
I’m about to travel so I’m going to rent this romance series you mentioned! Sounds perfect for travel days
Going to rent a series? Where do you rent books? I need to know about this.
@@surpriseitsus9622 borrow is the better word, I just meant borrowing from my local library
OK so, you've been talking about romantasy lately. I think you might like ruby dixons books. They're sci-fi romance. Ice planet barbarians or the corsairs. Corsairs is a bit more fun, space pirates! but there is also darker subject matter.
Malice was so slow for me! However, the rest of the series is gut punch after gut punch🤣 Also, character glossary is in books 2-4 girl!!! Gwynne does the good vs bad themes in a way that you definitely wouldn’t expect.
I would like to read a Agatha Christi book that is a little spooky. I also purchased The Secret Society of Irregular Whitches for October
Malice is the first book where I don't get it. It was so boring for me and I loveeee Fitz and the Fool, so I think I can appreciate slow pace 😢
the outfit thing... so real
I love that Henley sweatshirt. Where can I get my hot little hands on that? Ilona Andrews is a favorite author for fun, fast, Urban fantasy, my favorite genre.
we do still call it a Canadian tuxedo haha
The series it's quite brutal, have one last book to finish the series yet i'm stalling it for a bit more...The audiobooks are great by the way....The hero name is spelled Corbăn in case anyone is wondering, like Reagan said it first before deciding for the second version 😂...
Todd here. Nice Vlog!
I read that Ilona Andrews series and ended up getting so sick of the constant intense military/gun jargon - it would just be pages and pages of breaking down what every single weapon in a scene was and I could not handle it. The books are written by and wife and husband, and the husband used to be in the military or something and it really shows.
god I wish i didn't know her husband was involved ahahahaha - I do totally get what you mean tho, my eyes glaze over those parts
I don’t know whether to start shadow of the gods or malice first 😢suppose I should do the completed series first
Both are great!
I have a cozy fantasy for you called The Changling by Molly Harper. It has high society pseudo Victorian settings, a little dark academia and a touch of romance!
Your Name 💕💕💕
📚❤️
Oh I love your videos! First comment again!
I'm over 30 chapters into malice and I'm so close to dnfing it. There's too many pov's, and it's so confusing and I just don't care about any of the characters.
Love love love you and your channel - one request though... can you use a tripod when you're talking to the camera? Watching triggers motion sickness with how much it shakes... please please because I want to watch
Your dinner party menu looks incredible, is the chicken with caramelized lemons and dates an Alison Roman recipe by any chance? I made it once and it was delish!! She has a YT channel on here, I think she filmed that recipe too.
I'm making one of my favorites, a Hungarian Mushroom soup tonight (The Modern Proper recipe) and I can't agree more, fall is sweater weather and soup season all the way :)
It is!!!!!
I know you said you don’t feel seeping connected yet, but you will 😭😭
hahahaha stressed by the ending of Malice? Oh darling, the rest of the series with RUIN you. It's the best.
Cywen = Koh-en (i think 🤓)
Day 1847295 of wishing Regan would read the remnant chronicles and the dance of theives duology.
Especially when shes talking about enjoying humans living after a devastation surounded by ruins. ❤
I've read both!
@@PeruseProject omg WHAT. is it in a reading vlog?! Can't believe I've missed it!
I read them when they came out, so many before I did vlogs!
@PeruseProject oooh Okay! Love your videos!
Love these videos, but if Regan actually included the links (besides sponsors) in the description when she says she will, I would fall off my chair. Each time I think, "yeah right,' or like today when I really want the link for the soup recipe I think, "ohh, maybe this time;" NOPE. After 3 years I should know better.
Soup has been added! Apologies!
