    I own a Gutter business here in New York and it is a great business and it’s very important to charge the correct prices because although you see 25,000 and a good week and I mean A good week, There are many many many hidden costs and expenses. Not to mention intense pressure to pay people more, Worker’s Compensation, general liability, gas repairs, tools, mistakes, and on and on and on the other thing to remember is Gutters are seasonal. I’m in New York and we work nine months out of the year the other three months are slow. all in all I highly recommended it changed my life but it’s not easy and don’t think it’s gonna be that easy to sell 25,000 a week. Compare estimates relentlessly and a lot of people. I apologize if I’m sounding negative because I’m not I’m very positive on the business it change my life, but please be aware that this is not for the squeamish! Lol

    Interesting video. We’ve been contemplating adding gutters to our excavation business since most companies out here are booked up and customers are always asking if we know a gutter guy.

    Super interesting- just got a quote for gutters and got me thinking that I should start a gutter business..In Los Angeles I was just quoted $5600 for a single story ranch house with 5 smooth 2x3 downspouts, and two miters (gutter bends). That's $21.50 per LF for gutters and $528 per downspout, not including demo of existing gutters / haul away....think I'm just going to repair the gutters and put up the downspouts myself...

    Great video just discovered your channel, I do have a question how often will fascia or any flashing will need to be replaced?

    • @_CowboyColin
      @_CowboyColin  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hey, thank you!
      Flashing, every time we do a roof we replace the flashing.
      When we do gutters, Fascia is replaced on a "as needed basis". It really depends. We replace the fascia on average 5% of the time whenever we do a job.

    Glad you are able to sell at those $16-17 per foot rates, (thinking i should consider moving) but top dollar in our area would translate to about $4 per foot for 5” k style seamless, and $7 for 6”. The prices you are charging are literally 2.5 x 3x the competitive rates currently.

      @@bigmacattk My roof framing has a sub fascia board ( 2 x 6 ) nailed to the rafter tails. I then fastened the PVC board to the sub fascia board.

    • @bigmacattk

      That will work, as long as the wood is behind their to support it

    • @bigmacattk
      @bigmacattk 4 месяца назад

      Have to be careful sometimes if just adding a composite fascia to an existing board, to make sure you have the proper depth, so the shingles still have an overhang. No problems on the rakes, but behind the gutters get tricky

    • @scruffy4647
      @scruffy4647 4 месяца назад

      @@bigmacattk There was 1 x 6 wood fascia board. I just replaced it with the pvc board. My home has LP Smartside lap siding. I replaced all the trim boards with pvc boards a few years ago. I am replacing my gutters so I am continuing with the pvc boards. Roof pitch is 12:12. I am also replacing the drip edge. My soffit is 2" above the bottom of the fascia board so there shouldn't be any water migration from the bottom of the fascia board if water was to get on the face of the fascia board. I do like the pvc board. My trim is white so I didn't have to paint the pvc boards. Time will tell.
