She went to the Japanese version of Juliard. She played piano for years until she became interested in guitar, acoustic guitar too.
@@LucisFerre1 Only MISA and Akane went to musical schools (Tokyo School of Music), the rest of the band are playing music for a long of time but didn't have that academic training, Miku took interest in music and singing on her childhood because her grandmother (she brought Miku to enka performances with her) and she said that she was learning to play piano in her childhood but dropped the lessons because her teacher was very strict, and lastly a lot of us know that she was an idol for some time too; Kanami plays the piano since her childhood and plays the guitar since high school because she thought some of her classmates were cool and she wanted to be cool (God bless Mincho and her unique mind haha), she actually has a degree in Economics because her parents wanted that she has a more traditional career...and Saiki took interest in music on her childhood too because her mother took her with her to some karaokes because she didn't want to be alone and she was a back up dancer and expected to be an idol like Miku.
They call their fans "Masters and Princesses." The concert is called an 'Okyuji,' or 'serving.'

yeah miku the rythym guitarist thought her voice was a bit shallow and not strong enough for lead vocals so saiki was brought in . brilliant move because miku's backups and harmonies are great.

This is not a live version of the song. The video is live video, but the audio is from the studio album, the account that posted this video had done that, may be to prevent copy right. The TRUE live version of this song has been taken down, but trust me, the actual live audio is way way way way way way more better!!!!!

Miku, the rhythm gtr was the original vocalist but decided they needed to beef up the vox so she basically put herself in the backup slot.
I respect any musician who does that in order for their vision to be the best it can be.
The album version is dope and all, but the live acoustic version of this track with just Saiki and Kanami on stage is my favorite version.

@@dicodec Actually about 95 recorded songs. Counting acoustic covers of their own compositions.
It is the rhythm guitarist, Miku, who was originally expecting to be the vocalist. When the band decided that Saiki should be the lead vocalist, Kanami started teaching Miku how to play rhythm guitar. With the other instrumentalists all being so highly skilled, Miku had a lot of catching up to do to fit in.
And she's doing it. She's made phenomenal progress in such a short time, so she really does fit in. I don't think she has to be at Kanami's level to be an outstanding guitarist or else there would be very few outstanding guitarists in the entire world. The parts they play are different, anyway...and both are needed.
Miku was the lead vocal, but she is the one who realized that her vocal was not powerful enough to make the Band-Maid image that she was trying to create. So she went out and recruited Saiki into the band.

From what I’ve seen in interviews, Akane the drummer wanted Miku to play guitar to add a fuller sound live so Kanami (lead guitar) started teaching her. Miku thought having a second vocalist would sound cool (plus singing while playing is hard as fuck when you start out) so they auditioned a bunch of singers and liked Saiki the best even though she had never been in a band and hadn’t really performed anywhere. Saiki is actually the least experienced from what I understand with Miku having previously been in an idol group that when nowhere. I may have watched a fuck ton of interviews with them.
Yeah, it's great. But like others said the original live sound track is different and probably better than the album version used here. If you can find it, there is a wonderful acoustic version. The song is about falling for the wrong person, someone who is already taken but happy to carry on an affair. The full band version shows the anger and the acoustic version the pain.

I have herd that Kanami the lead guitar was a child prodigy. She started playing and composing on the piano at the age of 5. MISA (bass) and Akane (drums) have similar backgrounds.

Their live concerts have backing tracks for synths and piano bits and a few vocal bits as well.
Something weird that I noticed: I've listened to the live DVD (I have it) and the album (I also have it) a ton of times, and this RUclips video that you found somehow layered parts of the album track over the live DVD. It was most notable on the guitar solo, but I thought I picked up hints of it elsewhere. Was really weird to me.
I thought I'd heard differences in the mix but couldn't work out what. Jeez,now you've got me started on something. Is the VR running slightly fast too?
@paco acosta It's possible they're trying to avoid the RUclips copyright sweeps by slightly editing the songs, but people that haven't heard them before wouldn't notice that.

Masters and Princesses are what they call the concert goers. Miku (rhythm guitar) was the original vocalist, but felt her voice was not "rock" enough.

The Audio is from the album that is mixed over the live version. The live audio version has extremely prominent lead guitar riffs throughout the song. I think it was done to avoid copyright strike. It sound weird and is missing that live feel.
@@stimproid I don't mean to argue with you but I just checked BM official site and it's not there. "Puzzle" live was never on their official channel. It was taken down recently. It had a high view count as well. The version shown here is same one as prior taken down one and is from their Shinkiba Studio Coast concert. I know because I have the blu-ray. The audio is wrong though.

@@dicodec It's okay. You got the essence of the song anyhow. If you notice, the right and left channel are switched as well. Kanami is always on the right but you hear the lead guitar on the left on this version as well.
I do really recommend you guys listen to "secret My lips" official MV from their official channel. It's awesome.

No, it's live show with a backing track for the synthesizer part.
There were some parts that did sound like that and others that didn't. Not quite sure what it is tbh. One of our viewers linked us to it.

You are correct about Miku (rhythm and vocals), she stepped back to allow Saiki to be the main vocalist. In some of their earliest songs they have almost equal vocal parts. She only started learning to play guitar in 2014, I don’t think she had any prior musical experience before that. She’s been onstage with the guitar for that whole time as well.
It should also be pointed out that while Kanami writes the songs and works out the arrangements with Akane and Misa, Miku writes the lyrics.

To answer your question, Miku (Rhythm guitarist and creator of the band) was originally the lead vocals, but after a few performances she decided she didn't have the correct voice that they wanted, so they got their agent to set up some auditions which is where they found Saiki.
They call their fans Masters & Princesses.

Don't forget to send some love to Akane. Her drums hold the entire performance up, and often get forgotten by guitars, bass, and vocals.
Yes it's true MIKU was the original singer and SAIKI was brought into the band but only met her bandages individually and did not meet MIKU until just before a performance where she found out for the first time that she had to wear a maids uniform and to this day claims that she was tricked into joining the band and would not have joined iff she knew that she had to wear a maids uniform. After SAIKI joined the band MIKU began learning how to play the guitar. Yes that's right the band had already started performing before MIKU even began to learn how to play. KANAME is her teacher. Recently MISA started teaching AKANE how to play the bass. although SAIKI does not play in the band she can play the piano. Anyway SAIKI and KANAME who has a beautiful voice of her own do an acoustic version of PUZZLE and ANEMONE. You simply must see it. When it's over SAIKI doesn't even wait for applause she just gets up and leaves. She appears to be a little emotional. I suspect PUZZLE is about her but I don't know it would be great iff you could ask other commenters if they know.

Well, not just for this song. Saiki claimed at the interview about world domination that she's really got emotional and awkward after any gig or concert. So she always gone first. But she's trying to not done that at recent concert, world domination. And yes, fans that come to that concert realized that Saiki could cried. Lol
@@dicodec All the keyboard/synth parts are done by Kanami. She started to play piano at the age of 3, and switched to guitar rather late, only when she was 12 (she said, to impress the girls in the class 😅). Her parents did not believe she could make a career in music, and requested her to go to university first. She complied and got a degree in economics. But she has proven to them that she is, first and foremost, a musician, and now she is the main composer and a melodic backbone of the best rock band in the world. Instead of another mediocre economist, we've got a world-class guitarist 🤘

Miku is only rhythm guitar. She only learned guitar after she started Band-Maid. She intended to be the vocalist only but realized her voice wasn't quite the sound she wanted for the band and they recruited Saiki. She started playing only really to have something to do instead of just standing there to sing back-up. If you watch old performances or videos she barely touches the guitar basically just holds it. But she took to practicing hard and in the time since then she has become such a solid guitar player.

The members of Maid-Band are all to one degree or another professionally trained/educated.
How they work, Kanami (lead guitar) composes the music, sending (internet) it to Akane (drums) and MISA (bass) for bass and drums. Miku.(vocals, rhythm guitar, band founder) writes the lyrics. Then to the studio where all of them complete the song. Saiki (vocals) is the one who calls "we're done". Likely because the others would work on a song forever. On the last album apparently Miku and Saiki arranged the order of the songs. Recap, they write arrange and produce their own songs. Of course as you just heard they are highly talented and skilled performers, no electronic tricks needed.
Kanami did the synth, she "records" on computer which travels with them. She composes on the piano that she has played since she was 6 yo.

This is an album version over a live performance but there's not that much difference between each version. If any Saiki's voice has a different tone which I enjoy better live, but as for the instrumental and pace is almost identical. Anyway this is a solid song from them and one of my favorites as I think everyone does great and it was very well composed and performed.

MISA!!!! MISA!!!!! MISA!!!!!! This is my #6 fave song :) Misa and Akane just open it up hard. Very soulful singing by Saiki. The Rhythm guitarists Miku was their Lead singer but loved Saiki's voice better and added her to the group

Miku, who's last name Kobato means Little Pigeon, is the one who stepped aside as vocalist, even though she founded the band. Akane is The Beast, because she's half gorilla and half drum machine. MISA is The Assassin -- Barefoot with Killer Bass.

Miku (red flower) came up with the idea, and was originally lead singer. She found Kanami (lead guitar) and invited her to join. Kanami knew Akane (drummer) and in turn, Akane knew the bassist, Misa. They first performed as a 4 piece, but decided that they wanted a stronger voice. So they interviewed and invited Saiki (blue flower) to join the band. Miku decided she needed to contribute more to the band than backup vocals, she she took up rhythm guitar. kanami has been teaching her ever since, and every year, she gets better and better. Two or three of them play piano, Akane plays trombone as well. Kanami can also sing. They just have so much talent... but now I am being a fanboy.

This is a Music Video version, but aside from some enhancements, it sounds almost identical to the Sound Coast LIVE show it was taken from. Kanami does all the backing tracks on computer, but they don't need it to play. It's gotten lost with the luggage before and didn't turn up in time for the show. They just moved some songs in the set around and play the show. They were more concerned about the sneakers they'd bought in L.A. than the computer.
We goofed and got the wrong video but oh well. Thats dope that they pulled it off without it but sucks some thing like that happened. Similar situation happened to us a while ago but we were freaking out haha.
You need to watch the original unaltered version of this live video. This was probably done for copyright reasons which is unfortunate. Well, they might officially release it like Onset which would be amazing, as this is amongst my top 3 live performances of them.
We went into this one without knowing it wasn't legit. From here on in we will make sure we use the correct version. Onset will be scheduled very soon.
Play and Puzzle. That's two out of my three BM faves, so now Onset---that song always pumps me up for breakin' new gate. (see what I did there?)

@@dicodec There are only 5 of them and they have short names - be brave! :) The only thing you need to be conscious of is the pronunciation:
Akane: A-kar-nay (drums)
Kanami: Ka-nar-mee (lead guitar/composer)
Miku: Mee-koo (rhythm guitar/second vocals/founder)
MISA: Mee-sa (bass)
Saiki: Sigh-ee-key (said quickly!) (lead vocals)
Some will probably disagree with me regarding the pronunciation!

See the thing is, this is a sad heart wrenching song done to Fast paced Power rythm. If you here the live acoustic it's slowed and you really feel the way it's supposed to go from the lyric standpoint and you get to hear Kanami do some sweet backing vocals too!!!! 😉
