    Getting inside of 400 on a lope is doing well. The best part is you can hunt them all day long. Road hunting is one of the best ways to find lots of lopes.

      He made me work for it. We covered a lot miles on our feet and did hit some access roads. Got lucky because his does decided to turn.

      Thanks man! It was a great time, already planning the next one out there once we get some preference points back. Next on the Wyoming list is mule deer because we haven't spent those points yet, then elk.

    Got my 1st Oregon antelope last August at 350 yards. Great public land hunt but takes far more points than Wyoming. Just got him back from the taxidermist last week. Sure a pretty animal!
    We made heart tacos. Yum.

      That's awesome. I'd like to get up to Oregon one day that's more than a layover. Unfortunately for me my follow up shot destroyed the heart but we did have some tacos

    Awesome work guys on getting a nice pronghorn buck. I’m planning on doing a Wyoming rifle pronghorn and mule deer 🦌 hunting trip this fall. I have 4 points each and will be driving out from West Virginia instead of SC.

      Thank you. Not sure if you've picked a zone based on the amount of your points but this might help, wgfd.wyo.gov/Hunting/Drawing-Odds/2022-Drawing-Odds I pulled the draw odds from the 4 years prior and started stacking them up to see where we'd have the best opportunity. With any luck I'll be headed to WV this year to turkey hunt, just waiting on some stuff at work to get scheduled so I can take time off.

      I live 20 minutes from Chattanooga lol. Great hunt enjoyed the hunt. Planning on our first antelope hunt for next year. Looking forward to it. Thanks for sharing the hunt. May I ask did you hunt the first part or middle part of season. Trying to guess about the hunting pressure

    I just applied for tags in units 16,1,15, have you guys hunted any of those? And if so what should I be prepared for? Other than walking miles on end lol, I understand thats the game on public land

    • @SunburntSportsman
      @SunburntSportsman  Год назад +1

      Aaron, this hunt was actually filmed in unit 1. If you have a spotting scope, I'd recommend bringing it to save you some walking if you spot some off in the distance. Use a tool like OnX to find right of way access and roads for public access. We didn't start driving the public roads on the unit until the 2nd day but after we did we were able to cover a lot more miles. Prep for at least 3 seasons of weather. We were lucky enough to miss the 40 degree temp drop by a couple days but we got warm, cool, and wet days. If your camp won't have a wind break make sure you have some extra tent stakes and way to secure gear that might get wings, we had a wind break but when a storm rolled in it was still blowing plenty hard. Check regulations for open flames if you're camping. Where we were at you couldn't have any campfires other than my camp stove that we used to cook on. We only had one incident on public and it was someone put a board of nails across a right of way access point and I ended up getting 4 holes in a tire, so definitely bring a plug kit for your tires. Hopefully nothing like that happens to you but the terrain can be rough too and more than one way to get a hole in your tire. If you get drawn for hunt unit 1 reach back out and let me know and we can have an offline discussion and I can give you all the intel we got from that trip. Good luck and happy hunting.

      @@SunburntSportsman thanks man, I will definitely keep that in mind. Based off last years draw results I have a almost %100 chance of drawing one of the units with the amount of points I have so Ill be hitting you guys up again soon and watching your vids.

    Which tag did you put in for im looking to get in the draw next year

    • @SunburntSportsman
      @SunburntSportsman  2 года назад +5

      Put in for any antelope non-resident. Had 2 preference points. Put in for hunt areas 1, 9, and 8 and were able to draw in hunt area 1. I pulled the draw odds from the previous 4 years and used that information to find a good zone we could potentially get selected for. If you Google "Wyoming Draw Odds" it should be the first link and you can get all the previous/current information on success draw rates based on preference points. Hope that helps.

      Yeah, we camped. It was pretty remote. Only saw one other tent pop-up later that week. Was a great week under the stars.
